And so, a very strange scene unfolded on a secluded street in Shanghai.
The streets are still the same streets as before.
As usual, there was black blood everywhere, and a green garbage truck and a blue and white bus were parked in the middle of the street.
Both vehicles were covered in black blood, and behind them lay corpses, showing just how fierce the battle had been.
Now, only a dozen or so zombies remain standing on the entire street.
A psychic zombie rammed into the windshield of the bus again and again, behaving extremely violently.
The bone was already exposed on his forehead, and each blow left a black spray of blood. Despite the immense impact, not a single crack appeared on the glass.
Beside the psychic zombie, a dozen or so other zombies stood obediently, waiting to rush in and tear their prey apart.
The loud banging sounds were alarming and echoed throughout the street.
The scene inside the bus contrasted sharply with the horrific conditions on the street.
Inside the blue and white bus, the Bai family sat silently on the sofa, mentally counting the number of attacks from the psycho-zombies.
I am honing my awareness.
After being attacked by a psychopathic zombie, his consciousness became much more resilient.
Only Bai Yifan was struggling to vomit.
"Bang bang bang!"
After the 108th wave of attacks, the mental zombies finally couldn't hold on any longer.
Brain matter splattered and splashed all over the windshield.
The fourth-order crystal cores all fell out and landed on the ground with a crisp sound.
"Ugh—it's finally over!"
Bai Yifan didn't look up at the windshield; he simply reached out and pressed the automatic windshield washer button.
A stream of clear water gushed out, washing away the black blood and brain matter.
"roar--"
With the high-level zombie dead, the minions of the psychic zombies could no longer stand still and charged madly at the bus and the green garbage truck.
Before they could even reach the car, they were killed by a series of steel needles.
Under the sunlight, gleaming crystals flew out one by one from the zombies' temples and fell into the green garbage truck's compartment.
The train car window has a specially designed pocket, which is kept inside the car for safety.
Grandpa Liu usually throws the crystal cores he cuts into the container, and this is the fullest his pocket has ever been.
The crystal nuclei fell together, making a solid, clashing sound.
Before even leaving the street, they had already harvested quite a few crystal cores.
"Uncle Wang, are you alright?"
Bai Xizhu leaned out of the car window and shouted at the green garbage truck.
No one responded.
"Uncle Wang!"
Bai Xizhu called out again.
Still no one responded.
"Could it be that it got caught by a zombie?"
Bai Zhengxuan suddenly stood up, his heart skipped a beat.
Bai Xizhu stretched out her finger and moved it, using her control to force Grandpa Wang's hand to press down the window of the garbage truck.
The Bai family members rushed to the car windows and looked towards the driver's seat.
Inside the green garbage truck, two slightly overweight elderly men lay stiffly on the seats, unconscious.
—The thunderous sounds of two old men could be faintly heard, rising and falling in rhythm.
After several rounds of mental attacks, the two old men felt sleepy and simply lay down to sleep.
The Bai family members' faces twitched violently as they listened to the deep snoring.
"Grandpa, wake up! The zombies are coming! Run!"
Bai Yifan shouted at the garbage truck while cleaning up his vomit.
Unfortunately, the two elderly men, Wang and Liu, still did not react.
The snoring was deafening and incessant.
"Grandpa, dinner's ready! Pork and scallion dumplings, help yourself!" Leng Yebai said calmly.
"Alright! Give me plenty!"
The two old men, Wang and Liu, opened their eyes at the same time, their eyes shining.
The Bai family: ...
"Old Wang, Old Liu, can you guys be serious for once? We were just attacked by a level four zombie!" Bai Zhengxuan said with a pained expression.
He wanted to sleep and ignore everything in this situation, but his heart wouldn't allow it!
"I'm very serious!" Grandpa Wang wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth and said with a serious expression, "Shouldn't we start eating?"
Didn't you see the zombies lying dead all over the street?
It's time to eat and replenish our energy!
Bai Zhengxuan: "...Yes."
After being worried sick all day, I was indeed hungry.
Although he hardly made a move.
This did not stop him from being hungry.
There are too many zombies in Shanghai. There are so many zombies on just one secluded street, so Bai Xizhu decided not to go any further.
We'll sort out the trash after we eat, and then we'll talk about it.
So, after burning the zombie corpses on the ground, the blue and white bus and the green garbage truck turned around and drove towards the edge of Shanghai.
Because I had killed a lot of zombies at the spot where I parked last time, there was always a rotten smell there, so I drove in a different direction.
After walking a short distance, we found a place surrounded by greenery.
In the apocalypse, such places are becoming more and more common.
This used to be a park, but in just a few months, small trees as thick as a wrist have grown on the cement road.
At first glance, it's a dense expanse of green, giving it a forest-like feel.
Bai Yifan and Bai Anhai were making dumplings on the bus, preparing lunch for the day.
Bai Xizhu and the others took out the crystal cores from the green garbage truck, preparing to divide the spoils.
A pile of glittering crystal cores lay on the ground, numbering approximately two thousand. The crystal core belonging to a fourth-tier mental zombie was the most dazzling.
"I don't want this stuff. It's too much trouble to absorb, and it's uncomfortable to put in my pocket to sleep!"
