The rotting brain could no longer recall anything; the fleeting image was just that—fleeting.
Before it could even identify who the people in the picture were, or experience that feeling called happiness, it could no longer remember it.
The little blue zombie had a slight look of confusion on its rotting face; it seemed to have forgotten something very important.
"What's wrong? Did you remember something?" Bai Xizhu looked at the conflicted expression on the little blue zombie's face and was slightly curious.
Once zombies evolve to a certain level, they will develop self-awareness and their intelligence will increase.
They might even recall memories of their time as a human being.
Some people are born zombie kings, with no memory loss, just like Fan Tangtang and Zhang Yiming.
More and more humans have become walking corpses, their minds filled only with the desire to devour flesh and blood, their human memories vanishing into chaos.
Only a very small number of gifted zombies manage to climb step by step to the top of the zombie species pyramid by devouring flesh and blood, gaining self-awareness and regaining their human memories.
Sometimes, these memories are painful for zombies because they can no longer be considered human.
But for some zombies and their loved ones, this is also a kind of comfort.
The little blue zombie looked at Bai Xizhu who was speaking to it, its rotting face twitched slightly, and it tried to put on a smile.
But the smile looked too unfriendly; black blood slowly seeped from the rotting flesh, making it look nothing like a smile.
But it was also the most "gentle" smile that Little Blue Zombie could ever show.
The little blue zombie just stared blankly at Bai Xizhu, its rotting mouth moving slightly, but it could only let out a suppressed roar.
The roar had a slightly coquettish, pitiful quality to it.
It was as if she was pitying herself for turning into a zombie and not being able to remember anything, and she was telling her sisters about her grievances.
"Would you like to change into a new dress?"
Bai Xizhu could sense the aggrieved aura emanating from the little blue zombie, so she waved her skirt in front of it.
Distract it.
Zombies are easy to distract. When the little blue zombie saw the skirt swaying in Bai Xizhu's hand, it instantly forgot the images that were flashing through its rotting brain. Its not-so-flexible eyes followed the skirt's movement along with its head.
"Please wait here for a while; we need some time."
Bai Xizhu smiled, waved to the little blue zombie, and gestured for it to come with her.
The little blue zombie blinked blankly and, without Zhang Yiming's brainwave intervention, followed behind Bai Xizhu on its own.
It knew that following the girl in front of it would mean getting new clothes.
Even though it was clear that Bai Xizhu's fragrance was more captivating and that a bloodthirsty desire was raging in its mind, it still didn't pounce on Bai Xizhu.
Because Bai Xizhu has a brand new little skirt.
Indeed, a girl's love of beauty can never be extinguished, even if she becomes a zombie.
After Bai Xizhu and Xiao Lan the zombie left, only Zhang Yiming and Leng Yebai remained.
Leng Yebai glanced at the bus parked in the distance and vaguely saw the figures inside. Their strangely twisted bodies indicated their identities.
"Why do you always bring your family along wherever you go?" Leng Yebai said calmly.
I really don't know what to say. If we just stay silent, the atmosphere will only get weirder!
The warm, sunny smile on Zhang Yiming's face vanished the instant Leng Yebai spoke; his expression changed faster than turning the pages of a book.
Famous for its double standards.
"Not as good as you. Having a young girl as a stepmother has made Xiaozhu's seniority lower." Zhang Yiming's voice was even calmer than Leng Yebai's.
Leng Yebai: ...
Leng Yebai did not want to comment on this matter.
Because he hasn't officially recognized the base chief as his father yet, he can't bring up the question of who he wants to marry.
An awkward atmosphere filled the air.
Neither Zhang Yiming nor Leng Yebai spoke, silently watching the direction Bai Xizhu had left in.
This is a beach, so finding a place where the little blue zombie can change his clothes while out of sight is a bit difficult.
The closest one is a small house built in the distance. Before the apocalypse, it was probably used to sell snacks and drinks.
The cabin was quite far from where they were, and behind it was a large park where weeds grew wildly, almost completely burying the cabin.
Zhang Yiming narrowed his eyes slightly, and his brainwaves easily invaded the little blue zombie's brain. Through the little blue zombie's eyes, he saw Bai Xizhu in front of him.
Bai Xizhu led "him" into the small wooden house, then put the new dress in her hand aside, opened the other window, and let the sunlight shine in, instantly making the room brighter.
Then, with a smile, Bai Xizhu reached out and began to unbutton "his" clothes.
This is to prepare to change the clothes for the little blue zombie.
It must be said that the first-person perspective gave Zhang Yiming a very good feeling.
It felt like Xiao Zhu was changing her clothes.
Zhang Yiming quickly shifted his focus, a moment of unease crossing his face. He stopped looking at the cabin and turned to look at the sea.
A sea breeze blew by, but it couldn't dispel the heat on his face.
Sometimes it's not so bad to be a sentient zombie king; you can experience some very special things.
Leng Yebai frowned and glanced at Zhang Yiming, whose face was slightly flushed. "Did you peek?"
