Chapter 686 Run

The early mornings in July were as hot as ever.

Visibly, the air itself seemed to be deformed by the heat.

The sky was cloudless.

The blazing sun had barely peeked out from the east when the survivors were already parched.

The identities of water-type and ice-type ability users are becoming increasingly precious.

The sea breeze carries a hint of saltiness.

The heatwave and the energy emanating from the sun mingled together and blew all over the land.

On the beach, some small creatures left behind by the waves barely hopped around a couple of times before lying motionless on the sand.

In no time at all, the last bit of moisture in its body was completely dried out, turning it into a twisted, dehydrated mess.

There is still a tenacious "life" leaping about.

Those tiny, decaying creatures were still hopping around on the beach.

Even though their decaying skin has dried and hardened, and almost all the moisture in their bodies has evaporated, they still look "full of vitality".

Some small zombie fish had already hopped around the bus, attracted by the scent of blood and flesh emanating from Bai Yifan and his companions.

Unfortunately, the bus was like an impenetrable fortress; no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get onto the doors or enter the vehicle. They could only silently gape, greedily sucking up the last bit of blood and flesh from the air.

It bounced weakly on the ground.

They will not die completely until their fragile, decaying heads hit something and their brains are damaged.

The bus windows were open all night, and the lights outside were on the whole time.

Bai Yifan and the other two took turns standing by the car window, looking out at the boundless sea.

One night passed, but neither Shuihui nor Qinyuan returned, nor did the base commander return from the sea.

The atmosphere in the sea was one of coldness, desolation, and chill.

"Xiao Fan, have some breakfast!"

Bai Xizhu yawned, reached out and patted Bai Yifan, who was "on duty," and handed him a plate.

On the plate were several pieces of cut fruit, a slice of bread from a toaster, and an egg that was burnt to a crisp.

Clearly, these eggs were made by my older sister.

In all honesty, Bai Xizhu knew how to cook in her previous life during the apocalypse.

But now she does nothing all day, expects to be waited on hand and foot, hasn't cooked in a long time, and her egg-frying skills have even deteriorated.

The main reason is that in the previous post-apocalyptic world, there were no eggs for her to fry, as it would be wasteful of oil. Eating them raw was the most economical and non-wasteful way.

"Is this for me?"

Bai Yifan frowned as he held the plate, feeling like he had been picked up off the street.

Is it safe to eat these eggs?

Click, click—

A chewing sound rang out.

Bai Yifan stared at Leng Yebai, dumbfounded.

Leng Yebai was eating something with a blank expression.

His mouth was somewhat blackened, and every now and then a clump of something resembling charcoal would fall out of his mouth.

He was holding a plate in his hands, and on the plate were eggs that looked exactly like charcoal.

Bai Yifan silently swallowed the rest of his words and ate the eggs on his plate with gusto.

Clearly, he is his biological son; there is no doubt about that.

Bai Xizhu and the other two did not enter the space to eat with their grandparents, parents, or other family members inside.

Because this is the seaside.

The creatures in the sea are unknown and powerful. When the crystal core in the brain becomes powerful enough, regardless of the creature, its intelligence will be elevated to a higher level.

If one were to enter this space from the seaside, who knows what kind of trouble it would cause.

After a simple breakfast, Bai Xizhu and the other two began to stare blankly at the sea again.

Each person works three hours in shifts.

Even so, most of the time, Leng Yebai stood by the car window.

When she was bored, Bai Xizhu would prick the zombie fish on the ground with steel needles for fun, and even said in a wicked way that she would make kebabs for Bai Yifan...

In short, Bai Yifan felt mentally exhausted.

I still think my older sister from another world is more "gentle".

It's not that the older sister from the other world is really gentler, but rather that the older sister from that world hasn't seen much of the cruelty of the apocalypse and isn't as tough as her older sister for the time being.

The day passed quickly.

The sea was calm, without any waves.

The sea is the same at night as during the day, except that the waves crash against the beach more often.

The stars in the sky were bright, but Bai Xizhu and the other two had no interest in looking at them or the moon.

A day and a night passed, and neither Qin Yuan nor Shui Hui returned, nor did the base commander.

Aside from the fact that the place is too far away, the dangers are still unknown.

I was on tenterhooks all night.

the next day.

Bai Xizhu communicated with her parents and grandparents in the space using her consciousness. They were all consolidating their superpowers, and nothing unusual happened.

Leng Yebai's expression grew increasingly serious. He rested his hand on the car window, his eyes fixed on the sea.

No one could truly understand his feelings.

No one knew the true extent of his feelings for the base commander, despite his apparent indifference towards him.

Even if that person loses him, he is still his father, the only blood relative in the world.

"Owner……"

A faint sound suddenly entered Bai Xizhu's ears.

"I'm back!"

Bai Xizhu suddenly looked out the car window, but saw nothing. However, her legs had already moved quickly towards the car door.

Leng Yebai followed closely behind.
