Chapter 781 The True Healer

Leng Yebai is doing housework today.

Leng Yebai went to the kitchen on his own and began preparing breakfast.

The base commander rubbed his hands together as he boarded the bus and sat on the sofa, seemingly chatting with Bai Zhengxuan, but his eyes kept glancing towards the kitchen.

This wasn't the first time the base commander had eaten his son's cooking, and every time he ate it, he felt uneasy.

For more than twenty years, his son's image in his mind has always been that of an infant.

Now that I've suddenly become an adult who can get married and have children, all sorts of complicated feelings have flooded my heart.

The base commander felt a mix of bittersweet emotions, hoping that such days could continue forever.

If only people could really come back to life.

His wife, seeing this scene, would certainly not look the same as when he last saw her.

He looked haggard and depressed.

The aroma of food filled the air, and the base commander took a deep breath, a scene swirling in his mind.

The lady has returned, and after more than twenty years of separation, the family of three is finally eating together at the same table...

The base commander's fingers unconsciously tightened, his thoughts lost in his own fantasy world, only returning to reality reluctantly when it was time to eat.

The group gathered around the table and began to eat breakfast.

Breakfast was simple: a fried egg for each person, plus steamed buns and millet porridge.

The millet porridge cooked with spring water is so fragrant that it makes you want to drink a few more bowls.

What are you thinking about?

Leng Yebai placed a bowl of millet porridge in front of the base commander and, unusually, took the initiative to speak to him.

"nothing."

The base commander shook his head, lowered his head and drank his millet porridge, his eyes filled with desolation.

Leng Yebai glanced at the bloodstains on the base commander's hand where his fingers had been clenched so tightly, pursed his thin lips slightly, and said nothing more.

The Bai family noticed that the base commander's mood was off, and guessed that he might be missing his old family because he enjoyed the breakfast Leng Yebai made.

Therefore, the Bai family didn't say much and quietly ate their breakfast.

Even if the group didn't speak, they didn't feel oppressed; instead, a warm and comfortable atmosphere permeated the air.

The base commander really liked the atmosphere, so he ate his meal much slower.

It has to be said that his son is really good at judging people; he found a great daughter-in-law, and her family is also very good.

For people like the base commander and Leng Yebai, who don't have normal family lives, this is almost a luxury and something to aspire to.

"Someone's here!"

The quiet atmosphere was broken when Bai Yifan suddenly looked out the car window, his eyes fixed on the heavy truck approaching in the distance.

The sound of the black heavy truck was not harsh; it was quiet, like a beast slowly walking.

"They are from the Human Survivors Alliance."

Bai Zhengxuan immediately recognized that this heavy truck belonged to the Human Survivors Alliance.

He had also spoken with the Human Survivors Alliance and its leadership to discuss methods for fighting zombies.

The Human Survivors Alliance has people like Fang Jin who are only interested in power, as well as good people like Captain Zhang Gong who are selfless.

We shouldn't condemn them all at once.

Overall, Bai Zhengxuan felt that the Human Survivors Alliance was not entirely without merit.

These heavy trucks are rare, and there are only a few in the Human Survivors Alliance. Anyone who can drive one of these trucks is of great importance.

A black heavy truck slowly drove towards the bus.

The Bai family quickened their pace of eating, and by the time the black truck stopped, the group was already standing by the window.

With a soft click, the door of the black heavy truck slowly opened, and several men wearing military green windbreakers stepped out.

They weren't carrying any weapons, but their aura was overwhelming, unlike that of ordinary superhumans.

The supernatural abilities emanating from them were sharp yet restrained; their angular features and expressionless faces clearly indicated that they were strong individuals who had undergone intensive training.

Six people got off the bus in succession. The seventh person to get off was an elderly man with completely white hair and a sprightly appearance.

He was wearing a white overcoat, the pockets of which were bulging with many things, making a jingling sound every time he walked.

These are surgical instruments such as scalpels.

He was in exceptionally good spirits, as if he had inexhaustible energy.

Looking closely at his eyes and brows, one can see not only his upright and righteous composure, but also a hint of sorrow.

It is a sorrow born for all humankind.

"Zhong Beihai! He actually came here!"

Bai Zhengxuan blurted out, a look of shock in his eyes.

Zhong Beihai is a renowned medical doctor in China, a master of integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

During the decade or so of the apocalypse, his whereabouts almost disappeared without a trace.

However, rumors circulated among the human survivors that he was researching a cure for the zombie virus.

This elderly man, who stands at the pinnacle of Chinese medical expertise, is over ninety years old. His hair is completely white, yet the wrinkles on his face are fewer than those on Bai Zhengxuan's.

Most importantly, he has a lot of energy and looks more energetic than a young man.

With a faint smile on his face, Zhong Beihai walked straight toward the bus.

His six bodyguards watched the bus and the surrounding area very vigilantly, ready to take action at any moment.
