Chapter 35 Barbecue Restaurant
It was just a matter of submitting a document. Yan Sui originally thought that it wouldn't take much time and could be done at the school gate.
But seeing that Lin Jingyang's actions clearly showed that he was not going to hand it over to her now, Yan Sui got into the car under his gaze.
The car was still filled with the scent of sandalwood like last time.
Yan Sui took a quick glance and noticed two cups of coffee placed on the cup holder.
With a "click", the driver's door was opened, and Yan Sui quickly withdrew her gaze from the car pocket.
Lin Jingyang bent down to sit down, fastened his seatbelt, and started the car. "Will it be cold?"
The weather in November was already entering winter. Before going to school in the morning, Yan Sui deliberately put on an extra layer of clothes.
The temperature inside the car was much warmer than outside. Perhaps it was because Lin Jingyang had just turned on the heater in the car, and the warmth in the car had not dissipated yet.
Yan Sui, wrapped in her windbreaker, shook her head: "No."
"Then I'll ventilate it for a bit and then turn on the heat." Lin Jingyang handed the coffee to Yan Sui. "I bought it for you. It's not too sweet. Try it and see if you like it."
Yan Sui was stunned for a moment, then tilted her head and asked, "Why do you think I drink coffee?"
Adolescents generally prefer sweet drinks. Compared to coffee, which is bitter and a bit like traditional Chinese medicine, milk tea is particularly popular among girls their age. If they don't specifically love it, they might not be able to get used to the taste of coffee.
Yan Sui also gradually got used to the taste of coffee after graduating from college and entering the workplace. After that, she rarely drank milk tea, and her tea of choice at work was coffee.
Lin Jingyang looked straight ahead, turned the steering wheel with one hand, and answered irrelevantly: "Don't you like it?"
His expression was too calm, as if he was certain that she was used to drinking coffee.
Yan Sui lowered her eyes and did not answer his question. Her eyes hid the emotions in them, making it impossible to tell what she was thinking.
After a long while, Lin Jingyang said, "What would you like to eat?"
He took the initiative to change the topic, and Yan Sui instantly understood what he meant.
He would not answer her question.
Or rather, at least now, he wouldn't tell her the answer.
"No, I'll leave after I get my things."
"How cruel, Yan Sui! You just want to throw it away after you use it?" Lin Jingyang turned his head and glanced at her, his eyes full of teasing. "I came all the way from the south city to give you the file, and you won't even have a meal with me?"
This was indeed inappropriate. Yan Sui secretly suppressed her anger and asked, "What do you want to eat? I'll treat you as a thank you for doing me a favor."
"I just returned home, and I don't know how Sushan has changed over the years. You decide!"
Yan Sui had no doubts. Sushan didn't have a nightlife. After thinking for a while, she said, "How about going for a barbecue? There's nothing good to eat at this time."
"good."
Yan Sui had only eaten barbecue near her home and school, but she didn't want to take Lin Jingyang to eat near her home, nor did she want to eat at the school, for fear that her classmates would see them and cause unnecessary trouble.
When the car drove out of the school and arrived at another community, she happened to see a barbecue restaurant. There were no students from No. 1 Middle School here, and it was far from her home, so she decided to eat there.
But after they entered the store, Yan Sui discovered that it was an old store, with a thick layer of grease on the tables, chairs and walls.
She doesn't have mysophobia. In her previous life, she did much dirtier and more tiring work as a part-time worker.
But Yansui was a little worried that Lin Jingyang could not accept such an environment.
Although she didn't know how powerful Lin Jingyang's family was, it was definitely beyond her reach. The restaurants he frequented were mostly the same ones they had visited last time.
Yan Sui was just about to ask if they wanted to change restaurants, but when she turned around, she saw Lin Jingyang had already pulled out the bench.
Meeting her gaze, he smiled softly, "Sit down!"
Yan Sui was pushed into the chair by him in a daze. After she sat firmly, Lin Jingyang walked around and sat down opposite her.
The guests sat down and the boss came over with the menu. "What would you like to eat? This lamb kebab is our signature dish, and the mustard squid is also a popular dish."
The menu was originally handed to Lin Jingyang, but was stuffed into Yan Sui's hands by Lin Jingyang.
"You order, it's your treat."
"You order first."
Yan Sui had no choice but to look at the menu and selected a few common items: "What are your dietary restrictions?"
"No."
"Okay," she checked a few more boxes and handed the menu back to the boss, "Just five more lamb skewers and we'll be done."
"Okay."
After the boss left, Yan Sui and Lin Jingyang stared at each other again.
She felt uncomfortable facing Lin Jingyang's half-smile.
The system began to urge her in her mind: "Host, now is the perfect time for you and the second male lead to spend time together. Talk a little, chat a little, and your favorability will rise!"
When did her favorability score not rise inexplicably? Even if she didn't say anything, her favorability score would still rise.
Yan Sui ignored the fact that her thoughts would be synchronized with the system, and couldn't help but complain in her heart.
Perhaps the system heard her thoughts and disappeared again in shame.
Yan Sui didn't really want to disobey the task assigned by the system. Her original plan was to start working on the task of conquering Lin Jingyang after she had dealt with her family affairs.
But Lin Jingyang's favorability was rising too fast.
Even the system does not have a reasonable explanation for this phenomenon.
Moreover, he was even more unpredictable when facing Lin Jingyang than when facing Yu Shuli.
Someone who keeps doing things to bring them closer together, and acts as if he knows something about her.
One is that there is no expression, but the eyes behind the lenses seem to have seen through everything.
Lin Jingyang seemed to know that there was an adult beneath her skin.
This is the feeling he gave himself.
"Which university does Yan Sui want to apply to in the future?" Lin Jingyang suddenly asked.
Yan Sui came back to her senses from her thoughts: "I kind of want to go to the north to take the exam."
Lin Jingyang paused for a moment. "Is the south not good? The eating habits in the north are a bit different from ours. If you want to go somewhere more prosperous, Chenzhou has developed rapidly in recent years."
Yan Sui hummed, "It's good, but I want to go somewhere farther away."
Chenzhou was where she had settled in her previous life. She and Yu Shuli had been admitted to university there and had stayed to work there after graduation. Jiaping had come to Chenzhou early to work, and Jiaan had also been admitted to university there. She had her mother transferred to a hospital there, and the family left Sushan and settled in Chenzhou.
But she was tired of this place and didn't want to stay where Yan Zhaoting was.
The only choice she had in this life was that she wanted to stay away from it, as far away as possible from where the tragedy began.
Chenzhou and Sushan are both in the southernmost part, too close.
She wanted to run to the north, to a place where she could start over.
Lin Jingyang seemed a little surprised by her decision, but still gave her some pertinent advice.
Yan Sui thanked him. Lin Jingyang definitely had more experience than her. After asking about her grades, he analyzed several schools that were suitable for her.
Yan Sui’s goal is to be in the capital, and she has not yet decided what job she will do in the future.
But she wanted to go to the university over there.
"Mr. Lin hasn't graduated yet, right? When will he leave?"
Lin Jingyang raised an eyebrow, as if surprised that she would care about him, "I'm taking a leave of absence."
Yan Sui was stunned for a moment, then she thought that it was quite common for someone of his status to take a leave of absence from school due to family matters, so she did not ask any more questions.
The skewers were served, and Lin Jingyang didn't drink because he had to drive soon.
Yan Sui was still underage and not good at drinking, so the two of them toasted with their drinks and exchanged pleasantries.
Lin Jingyang talked a little more tonight than before, but he was careful not to make Yan Sui feel uncomfortable with the topics he brought up. After he spoke a few times, she was also led to bring up a few topics by the other party.
Halfway through the time, their topic turned to their usual interests and hobbies. After listening to Lin Jingyang talk about how he used to like music and often stayed in the music room for the entire afternoon, Yan Sui said:
Yan Sui was a little surprised. After all, Lin Jingyang didn't look like a musician. "What instrument do you play?"
“I can play a little bit of guitar, cello, and piano, but my favorite is cello.”
Yan Sui: "I can also play the cello a little bit."
"Yeah?"
"I pulled more before my second year of high school, but after I got to my second year, I became more academically intensive and stopped pulling."
After saying this, Yan Sui did not notice that there was a strange emotion hidden in Lin Jingyang's eyes under the lenses.
After the two finished eating the barbecue, the hour hand of the wall clock had already passed "11".
When Yan Sui went to pay the bill, she was told that their table had already been paid for.
"Your brother has just paid the bill," the boss said, smiling as he mentioned their lamb skewers. "How is it? Are our lamb skewers delicious? I'm from Inner Mongolia, and I used to eat there at a lamb skewers restaurant. Are they more authentic than the ones you've eaten at? Oh, if the beef and mutton here weren't a little different from ours in Inner Mongolia, the taste would be even more authentic..."
The boss boasted about his skill in grilling lamb skewers, but Yan Sui's mind was elsewhere. She responded vaguely and then turned and walked out of the store.
Lin Jingyang had already moved the car, and Yan Sui simply opened the door and got in.
As soon as we got in the car, she asked, "Didn't you say it was my treat? Why did you pay?"
Yan Sui guessed that Lin Jingyang paid the money when he asked her to go to the next door store to buy a bottle of mineral water.
He deliberately sent me away and settled the bill.
Hearing Yan Sui's question, Lin Jingyang laughed twice, looking innocent, "Maybe he forgot."
Yan Sui: “…”
"It's okay, you can treat me next time!"
Without waiting for Yan Sui's response, Lin Jingyang leaned over and handed the document bag in the back seat of the car to Yan Sui: "What you want."
He had a plan and was trying to change the subject, Yan Sui could see it.
But when she got the briefcase, the little bit of temper she had disappeared without a trace.
She sat up straight and muttered softly, "There won't be a next time."
Lin Jingyang raised his eyebrows and glanced at her: "Hmm?"
Yan Sui immediately shut up, turned to look out the window and pretended to be mute.
The car drove slowly towards Chunwan. It was already past the peak hour of Sushan at 11 o'clock in the evening. There were not many cars on the road, so they had a smooth journey and soon arrived at Chunwan.
Yan Sui didn't let him drive the car into the community and stopped the car at the gate.
"Thank you for taking me back," she paused and raised the document bag again, "and this, thank you."
"If you need any help, just come to me."
Yan Sui nodded, opened the car door and prepared to get out.
Suddenly, a voice came from behind her——
"Actually, I have plans to work in Beijing after graduation."
