Chapter 39 Commanding Heights

Chapter 39 Commanding Heights

In the afterglow of the setting sun, the orange light and shadows make the dilapidated buildings around it look like its own color.

The residential building was very quiet at this time. They sat on the stairs, and the light of the setting sun shone on them, creating a halo for the two of them.

Yan Sui took out a tissue from her pocket and handed it to Tian Shan: "Wipe your tears."

Tian Shan lowered his head and took it, gently pressing the tissue against the corners of his eyes, and his tears quickly soaked the tissue.

"The person is gone, don't be afraid." Yan Sui comforted softly.

Tian Shan held the tissue and nodded silently.

Yan Sui saw the vigilance in her after escaping from the trap.

Although she helped her, she called out Tian Shan's name when they were two strangers. Tian Shan became alert because of this, but Yan Sui didn't think it was a big deal.

She fished out her student ID from her pocket and said, "I'm a student at Sushan No. 1 Middle School. My last name is Yan Sui."

Tian Shan didn't know what he heard, and his originally stiff body shook violently.

"Yan Zhaoting is my father."

Yan Sui was always paying attention to her emotional changes. As soon as she finished speaking, she clearly saw the fear in Tian Shan's eyes, and her hands holding the tissue couldn't stop shaking.

It was obvious that Yan Zhaoting's name was a shadow that frightened her in her heart.

Looking at Tian Shan, who was so scared that his whole body was trembling even when he heard his name, Yan Sui felt a little uncomfortable.

She couldn't help but reach out and hold the other person's trembling hand.

At the moment of contact, Tian Shan's hand subconsciously struggled, but was held in Yan Sui's hand instead——

"Don't be afraid."

Suddenly, Tian Shan stopped struggling.

These two words seemed to carry some kind of power, and when they fell into her ears, they passed through her earlobe and into her body.

Her originally restless heart stopped instantly.

Tian Shan raised his eyes tentatively and glanced at Yan Sui.

"I came to see you," Yan Sui paused after catching her gaze, then added, "I won't hurt you."

Unlike what she had imagined, Tian Shan could feel that the other person's eyes did not have the same greed and evil as her father's, and touching the skin did not make her feel nauseous.

On the contrary, whether it was the other party's clasped hands or the determination in his eyes, they were all conveying strength to her.

For some unknown reason, Tian Shan nodded at her.

Seeing Tian Shan’s reaction, Yan Sui’s nervousness disappeared.

She was originally worried that the shadow cast by Yan Zhaoting in Tian Shan's heart would affect Tian Shan's impression of her.

If Tian Shan is too vigilant and is unwilling or doesn't want to listen to anything she says, she will not be able to help Tian Shan, nor will she be able to take on her mission.

Yan Sui slowly let out a breath and smiled at Tian Shan: "Don't be afraid of Yan Zhaoting's matter. I came to you just to help you and get you out of trouble."

“.......”

Tian Shan stared at her for a long while before asking in a low voice, "What are you talking about?"

Although she did not resist herself, the vigilance in her eyes still existed.

Yan Sui didn't want her to let down her guard.

When meeting someone for the first time, especially when facing someone who is standing below her, she must be a little lower than her.

Yan Sui paused and said, "Although Yan Zhaoting is my father, he betrayed our family a long time ago."

The vigilance in Tian Shan's eyes disappeared, replaced by surprise.

It seemed as if he didn't expect her to say this suddenly.

Yan Sui smiled at her and continued, "He cheated on me during our marriage. I just found out about this recently. He started a new family outside and cheated on me and my mother. Like you, I hate him too."

As she finished speaking, Tian Shan's fingers, which were held in her palm, trembled slightly.

Tian Shan avoided her gaze and lowered his head: "I don't understand what you are saying."

Her eyes dodged, and after a moment of silence, she added, "I don't hate him."

The voice of this sentence was very soft, and she spoke it to herself while holding it in her mouth.

But in the quiet environment, Yan Sui easily caught the words she said.

Yan Sui pursed her lips and asked, "You really don't hate him?"

“.......” Tian Shan didn’t respond.

Yan Sui sighed softly: "If you keep enduring, it will give bad guys an opportunity to take advantage."

Tian Shan suddenly raised her head. Yan Sui seemed to have expected this, and she met Yan Sui's gaze unexpectedly.

"You're not protecting yourself by not telling me. You're protecting him." Yan Sui stared into her eyes and cruelly revealed the fact to her.

She didn't even say it explicitly, but Tian Shan must have understood what she meant.

Hearing this, Tian Shan didn't know what was going on. As soon as she said a word, a strong sour taste surged up her nose, and tears poured out. She suddenly turned her head to the side, lowered her head, and covered her face with her hands, blocking her eyes and blocking her view of Yan Sui. Sobs flowed out through her fingers.

The sobbing of a young girl sounded beside him. At first, it was just a suppressed sob, but later, it was more like the pent-up emotions were opened by this sentence, and the emotions were vented out. In the balance between rationality and emotion, emotions occupied the brain.

The whimpering sound slowly turned into sobbing, once, twice, until the crying sound came out from between her fingers, continuing uninterruptedly.

Her emotions began to flow.

Yan Sui sat beside her, accompanying her quietly, and did not speak when she was venting her emotions.

It was only a matter of time before Tian Shan had an emotional breakdown. She had been holding something in her heart, with no one to talk to and no outlet. It was like a volcano ready to erupt at any time, and she didn't know when it would collapse.

But this emotion must be expressed.

Yan Sui wanted to help her and made sure she could accept talking about this matter in front of outsiders.

Otherwise, Tian Shan would not want to say anything. Even if Yan Sui knew the whole story and helped her with external forces, she would never be able to get over it in her heart.

Rather than having to fight to the point where she needs to seek outside help to get Tian Shan out of trouble, Yan Sui hopes that she can stand up on her own.

She originally thought that it would be difficult to get Tian Shan to stop hiding his emotions.

But she didn't expect that just one sentence would be enough to break her heart.

Although it was simple, Yan Sui felt very uncomfortable.

What does this mean?

Representative Tian Shan's heart has long been in danger and may collapse at any time.

If it were so easy for Tian Shan to vent her emotions, she would have been holding it in for so long, which would mean there was no one around her who could help her.

His father worked away from home all year round, and his mother focused on his sick sister. Perhaps they had forgotten that Tian Shan was just a teenager.

Their position was so concealed that even though Tian Shan cried again and again, it did not attract the attention of passers-by.

Yan Sui accompanied her from the beginning, and later when she cried, she couldn't help but put her hand on her back and pat her on the back to comfort her.

I don’t know if it was because of her action that Tian Shan’s crying became even louder.

Seeing her crying on his knees, Yan Sui couldn't bear it. Just as he was about to speak to comfort her, he suddenly heard an unclear word mixed in with her crying.

Although covered by the crying sound, Yan Sui still heard the words "No, I hate him" in the conversation.

Yan Sui held her breath instantly: "What did you say?"

The crying continued intermittently, but the words that emerged again could not be concealed. She said: "I'm not trying to protect him, I'm trying to protect my sister and our family. I hate him, I hate him so much."

Yan Sui's heart tightened, and she lifted Tian Shan's head from her knees with both hands.

Seeing her tear-stained face, she freed one hand to wipe the tears from Tian Shan's face: "Since you hate him, why don't you tell this matter? If you tell it, you can send him to the police station."

"No," Tian Shan grabbed Yan Sui's arm and shook his head frantically, "I can't tell you. If I tell you, my sister's medical expenses will be cut off. Her condition has finally improved."

Just as the system said, Tian Shan was unwilling to tell others about being molested by Yan Zhaoting because he was worried about his sister's medical expenses.

She thought that the money her father took back was all lent to their family by Yan Zhaoting.

Yan Zhaoting was lying to her, and no one told her the truth.

So she could only help Yan Zhaoting hide this secret alone, even if it hurt herself.

Yan Sui looked into her tearful eyes and said, "That's why I said that if you don't tell him, you are protecting him."

Tian Shan was stunned.

“Yan Zhaoting didn’t spend a penny on your family.

“The money your father got back was all earned through his own risk-taking, not loaned to him by Yan Zhaoting.

"Yan Zhaoting has been lying to your family."

Tian Shan looked horrified and shook his head: "Impossible, sister, you may not know this. But my sister's medical expenses are a huge expense. My father's salary alone is not enough to support my sister's medical expenses. Otherwise, our family would not be borrowing money from others for medical treatment..."

"It's true," Yan Sui lowered her eyes, "There are some things I shouldn't say, but if you trust me once, I can tell you with absolute certainty that Yan Zhaoting is lying to you."

Tian Shan's crying stopped abruptly, and his eyes turned red.

She didn't say anything. Yan Sui knew she was still hesitating, so she changed the topic and approached the question, "I know you can't believe this right now. To you, I'm just a stranger. But these things are true."

"I discovered your case when I was investigating Yan Zhaoting's infidelity.

"I have younger brothers and sisters, but they don't know about this right now. Like you, I want to do my best to protect my family, even if it means sacrificing some of my own interests.

Tian Shan is just like her name, kind and sensitive, yet strong and resilient. That's why she was able to bear the entire burden of persecution without telling her family.

She is also very smart. If Yan Sui hides certain things completely, she will not be able to gain her trust.

So Yan Sui confessed the purpose of her visit: "I know that although you are only in junior high school, you must understand a lot of things. The reason why I came to see you must be a cloud of doubt in your mind, so you can't believe me.

"I'll be honest with you. I came to you for two reasons. One is because of the experience I just told you about. I think that although you are younger than me, we are the same person. We both have families that we love very much and we can't bear to see them hurt. You can understand this as a kind of sympathy between people of the same kind. I don't want you to be deceived again.

"The second reason is for myself. I want Yan Zhaoting to be the one at fault in his marriage to my mother. After your matter is resolved, I hope you can persuade your father to be my witness so that my mother can divorce Yan Zhaoting smoothly.
