At that moment, inside the palace, Imperial Physician Zhang was sorting medicinal herbs in the Imperial Hospital. He was an experienced physician, particularly skilled in gynecology and prenatal care. Suddenly, a young eunuch rushed in, breathlessly exclaiming, "Imperial Physician Zhang, something's wrong! The Prime Minister's residence has sent for you, saying that Madam Jiang is about to give birth and is in critical condition!" Upon hearing this, Imperial Physician Zhang's face fell. He immediately put down the herbs in his hands, packed up his medicine box, and hurried out with the young eunuch.
Just as he reached the gate of the Imperial Hospital, he saw Young Marquis Su rushing in on horseback. Seeing Imperial Physician Zhang, Young Marquis Su dismounted as if he had found his savior and anxiously said, "Imperial Physician Zhang, come with me! My sister's condition is bad. Someone has tampered with her pregnancy-preserving medicine!" Upon hearing this, Imperial Physician Zhang was horrified and, without bothering to ask more questions, jumped on his horse and galloped towards the Prime Minister's residence with Young Marquis Su.
In Lanyue Pavilion, time seemed to freeze. Every second felt like a year to Jiang Yan and Su Qingyao. They anxiously awaited the arrival of Imperial Physician Zhang, silently praying for the safety of Su Jinli and the child. Jiang Yan periodically glanced at Su Jinli, struggling in agony in the delivery room, his heart filled with remorse and heartache. He hated himself for not protecting Su Jinli, forcing her into such a dangerous situation.
Finally, the sound of hurried horse hooves approached from afar. Jiang Yan and Su Qingyao were delighted to hear the sound, knowing it was Imperial Physician Zhang. Young Marquis Su and Imperial Physician Zhang dismounted and headed straight for the delivery room. Without even a moment to catch his breath, Imperial Physician Zhang entered the delivery room and began examining Su Jinli. His expression was solemn as he carefully felt Su Jinli's pulse and assessed her symptoms.
After a diagnosis, Doctor Zhang frowned and said, "Mrs. Jiang suffered great damage to her body because she accidentally took medicine mixed with croton powder. Her condition is very critical. But fortunately, it was discovered in time, and we still have a glimmer of hope." As he said that, he quickly took out various medicinal herbs from the medicine box and began to prepare medicine for rescue.
As Doctor Zhang prepared the medicine, he said to Jiang Yan, "Master Jiang, don't worry. I will do my best to save Madam Jiang and the child. However, the process may be difficult, and Madam Jiang needs to remain conscious and cooperate with my treatment." Jiang Yan nodded vigorously and said, "Doctor Zhang, no matter what the cost, you must save them and their child."
Under Doctor Zhang's meticulous care, Su Jinli gradually regained some consciousness. She endured the pain and followed Doctor Zhang's instructions, diligently cooperating with the treatment. Jiang Yan stood outside the delivery room, anxious and pacing. His eyes were filled with worry and anticipation, and every time he glanced at the delivery room door, he hoped to hear good news.
Su Qingyao, on the other hand, comforted Jiang Yan, saying, "Brother-in-law, don't worry too much. Sister is blessed with good fortune, and she'll be fine." Although she said this, she was also deeply worried. She knew that the crisis Su Jinli faced was no small matter. If she wasn't careful, she could lose two lives.
Time passed slowly amidst tension and worry. Finally, the cry of a baby could be heard in the delivery room. That cry, like the breaking light of dawn, pierced the dark night sky. Jiang Yan and Su Qingyao felt relieved when they heard the cry. Doctor Zhang walked out of the delivery room with a tired face and said with a smile, "Congratulations, Master Jiang. Madam Jiang and the child are both safe and sound. The child is a healthy little boy."
Jiang Yan's eyes were red with excitement. He held Doctor Zhang's hand tightly and said, "Thank you, Doctor Zhang! If you hadn't arrived in time, the consequences would have been disastrous." Doctor Zhang smiled and shook his head, saying, "Master Jiang, you're too polite. This is my job. But Master Jiang needs to be more careful about this incident. It seems that someone doesn't want Madam Jiang to give birth smoothly."
Jiang Yan nodded, a fierce look flashing in his eyes. He said, "I will investigate this matter thoroughly and will not let anyone involved go." Then, Jiang Yan walked into the delivery room and looked at Su Jinli, who was weak but full of happiness. His heart was filled with heartache and gratitude. He walked to the bedside, held Su Jinli's hand, and said softly, "Jinli, you have suffered." Su Jinli raised her head slightly, looked at Jiang Yan, and said weakly, "It's okay. As long as the baby is safe, I'm happy."
Jiang Yan looked at the baby in the cradle, a warm feeling welling up in his heart. This hard-earned little life was the fruit of his and Su Jinli's love, and their hope for the future. He secretly vowed to protect them and their child, and never let them suffer any harm again.
Elsewhere in the Prime Minister's residence, Jiang Yan immediately ordered an investigation. He dispatched the palace guards to search for the maid who had drugged Su Jinli and any clues to the remnants of Concubine Shu's gang. After considerable effort, they finally uncovered some clues. Upon learning of his daughter's confinement, Concubine Shu's father, disgruntled, plotted to retaliate against Jiang Yan and the Emperor by harming Su Jinli's unborn child. He had bribed some of the servants in the Prime Minister's residence to orchestrate this conspiracy.
Upon learning the truth, Jiang Yan immediately reported the matter to the Emperor. The Emperor, enraged, ordered a thorough investigation of Concubine Shu's father and his accomplices. After a rigorous investigation and trial, Concubine Shu's father and his accomplices ultimately received the punishment they deserved. They were dismissed from their posts, their property confiscated, and their crimes exposed to the public.
This unexpected birth event has made Jiang Yan and Su Jinli cherish each other even more, and has also deepened their understanding of the cruelty of power struggles. They know that in a palace filled with conspiracy and danger, only constant vigilance can protect themselves and their families. And this hard-earned little life will grow up healthy and happy under their care, in the warm family of the Prime Minister's Mansion. Their story, after surviving this ordeal, will continue to unfold, becoming even more exciting and legendary.
