In this tense and critical moment, Jiang Yan's heart tightened, keenly sensing the danger in the air. The smell of the drug grew stronger, and if he wasn't careful, he would fall into a coma, with disastrous consequences. Without a second thought, he whirled around, covering Su Jinli's mouth and nose with his hands, while urgently yet calmly shouting, "Madam, hold your breath!" His eyes were firm and focused as he spoke, as if conveying an unquestionable strength.
Almost instantly, Jiang Yan's other hand reached into his sleeve like lightning and flung out several gleaming silver needles. In the dim light, these needles traced sharp arcs, piercing the wind with a whistling sound as they shot unerringly at the servants' wrists. With a few muffled "puffs," the needles hit their targets, and the servants' knives fell to the ground with a clang. Fear crossed their faces, and they instinctively covered their injured wrists, groaning in pain.
"Jiang Zhuangyuan is so arrogant! How dare you be so presumptuous in my Wang family!" Old Lady Wang screamed, hiding behind a servant, a look of humiliation and anger on her face. Her face, already wrinkled, was now twisted with anger, appearing particularly ferocious. "That blood letter is clearly a malicious frame-up by that bitch Liu, an attempt to slander me! Don't even think of using it to frame my Wang family!" Her voice was piercing, like the cry of a night owl, echoing in the tense atmosphere.
"Really?" Jiang Yan sneered, his eyes as sharp as torches, staring straight at Old Lady Wang, his eyes filled with disdain and certainty. He slowly pulled out a letter from his bosom, the letter in his hand seemed to carry a thousand pounds of force. "This is the testimony that Liu asked someone to hand over to the Dali Temple before her death." Jiang Yan spoke word by word, his voice steady and powerful, echoing in the room like a huge bell. It turned out that since learning that Liu had sent a letter to Su Jinli, Jiang Yan knew that there must be something fishy about this matter, and he had already arranged for secret guards to closely monitor the temple to prevent any accidents. This testimony was the key evidence in his hands.
Upon hearing this, Old Lady Wang's face, which had been forced to remain calm, instantly turned as pale as paper, like the lingering snow on a winter's day, devoid of any color. A flicker of panic and fear flashed across her eyes, but was quickly replaced by a sinister venom. Just as everyone's attention was focused on the letter in Jiang Yan's hand, Old Lady Wang suddenly, like a mad beast, snatched up the scissors on the table and, recklessly, lunged at Su Jinli. Her movements were swift and sudden, catching everyone off guard.
"Be careful!" Young Marquis Su shouted, his eyes sharp. His figure was as fast as lightning, and he swung the wooden sword in his hand. A flash of cold light flashed, and with a "crack", he accurately cut off the scissors in Old Lady Wang's hand. The broken blade flew past Old Lady Wang's nose, frightening her so much that her face turned pale and her legs went weak. "Old hag! You vicious woman, I see you dare to kill me again!" Young Marquis Su's eyes widened in anger, and he kicked Old Lady Wang hard in the stomach. Old Lady Wang screamed and collapsed to the ground like a rag bag, still cursing.
"Search!" Jiang Yan decisively gave the order. The waiting secret guards sprang into action, their trained eyes sharp as a ghost. They searched the room thoroughly. Soon, one of them unearthed an exquisite wooden box from under Old Lady Wang's bed. The box looked ancient and heavy, intricately carved with patterns, as if revealing a hidden secret.
Jiang Yan walked forward and opened the wooden box. Inside was an account book, the paper had turned slightly yellow, and it was obvious that it was quite old. On the cover of the account book, some old stains could still be seen, as if they were traces left by time. Opening the account book, it recorded in detail the expenses of bribing the kitchen maid. Every item was recorded clearly, and the handwriting was neat and cunning. Next to the account book, there was a half-empty bottle of poison. The poison bottle was small and exquisite, and it flickered with a strange light in the weak light, as if silently telling of its past sins.
"It's not me! This is all the housekeeper's fault. I have nothing to do with it!" Old Lady Wang collapsed to the ground, her eyes frantic, her voice hoarse as she argued. Her hair was disheveled and draped over her face, making her look utterly miserable. She no longer had the arrogance she had before, struggling in vain like a caged beast.
Su Jinli stepped forward and took the account book. When she saw the familiar handwriting on it, a pang of pain pierced her heart. It was the same handwriting that had appeared on the list of supplements the Wang family had sent her before her biological mother's death. Every stroke seemed to carry a deep malice, piercing her heart. Her eyes flushed, tears welling in them, but she fought hard to hold them back. The rage within her burned like a raging fire, threatening to consume her.
"Grandma Wang, what else do you have to say!" Jiang Yan's eyes were as sharp as knives, and he looked coldly at Grandma Wang who collapsed on the ground, "There are both witnesses and material evidence. Your crime of poisoning Madam Su's mother is irrefutable! You are trying to cover up your crime with lies and sophistry, which is simply wishful thinking!" Jiang Yan's voice was firm and powerful, as if it was a verdict of justice, echoing in the room for a long time.
At this point, Old Lady Wang was completely panicked. She slumped on the ground with a blank look in her eyes, and kept muttering, "Impossible, impossible... Someone is framing me, someone is framing me..." However, her sophistry seemed so pale and powerless. In the face of solid evidence, her guilt was already obvious.
Jiang Yan looked at Old Lady Wang in such a state of disgrace, feeling no pity in his heart. He knew that a ruthless person like Old Lady Wang would continue to commit evil deeds if she did not receive due punishment. He turned to look at Su Jinli, his eyes filled with heartache and comfort: "Madam, my mother-in-law's injustice can finally be vindicated. All this is over, and the evildoers will be punished."
