Chapter 174: A martial arts family, full of jokes

After my grandfather arrived at the Prime Minister's residence, he decided to stay there. This stay made the martial arts field of the Prime Minister's residence completely lively, as if it had become a source of joy for the entire residence.

On weekdays, Prime Minister Su was always busy with government affairs, rarely finding leisure time. Seeing his grandfather's proficiency in martial arts, he couldn't help but be tempted to learn the art of "civil servant self-defense." That day, dressed in a loose, plain robe and a black gauze hat, he approached the martial arts arena with a slightly slow gait. Seeing his grandfather approach, Si Yan's eyes flashed with cunning, and the corners of his mouth curled slightly. He immediately picked up the abacus he always kept in his hand, ready to give his grandfather a good "lecture."

"Si Yan, show me that 'Civilian Self-Defense Technique'! I need to learn it!" Su Xiang put his hands behind his back, a hint of anticipation in his eyes. Si Yan nodded, cleared his throat, and said seriously, "Grandfather, watch carefully. This 'Civilian Self-Defense Technique' emphasizes flexibility and the use of clever force to defeat the enemy." He began to demonstrate, the abacus in his hand flying up and down with his movements, the beads colliding with each other, making a crisp sound like a unique piece of music.

Su Xiang tried hard to follow Si Yan's movements, but he stayed in the study for a long time, and his body was no longer as flexible as when he was young, so his movements seemed particularly clumsy. He seemed extremely stiff when he stretched his hands and raised his legs. He looked like a puppet being pulled by strings. Si Yan frowned as he watched his grandfather's movements, and couldn't help but complain: "Dad, your movements are even clumsier than abacus beads!" After that, he exaggeratedly put his hands on his waist. When Su Xiang heard this, he was so angry that he blew his beard and glared, with an expression of both anger and amusement on his face. He pointed at Si Yan and said: "You little brat, how dare you tease your grandfather like this? I'll teach you a lesson!" Although he said so, his eyes were full of doting.

On the other side, Su Qingyao had an idea at some point. She looked at Nian Li's pepper spray, and on a whim, she secretly mixed her carefully prepared rouge into it. She thought she could create some interesting effects, but she never expected that this move would cause her to suffer a great loss. When she picked up the spray to try the effect, she accidentally sprayed it on her face. In an instant, a spicy smell hit her nose, and her face turned red in an instant. Her eyes were irritated and tears flowed, and she kept shouting: "Oh, it's so spicy! What's going on!"

"You little bitch, what the hell are you doing!" Grandfather heard the noise and ran over. Seeing Su Qingyao's miserable appearance, he was angry and distressed. He quickly picked up the clean water beside him and carefully helped her wash her face, muttering: "You, how can you be so naughty and dare to try anything." Nianli heard the noise and ran over. She held the pepper boxing manual in her hand and shouted to Su Qingyao seriously: "Aunt, you have to punch like me! Don't use pepper spray like you do!" The childish voice made everyone around laugh.

In the study, Jiang Yan was sitting at the desk, concentrating on correcting memorials. The sunlight shone on him through the window, forming a warm halo. However, this tranquility was soon broken. Si Yan tiptoed to the door of the study, his eyes rolled around a few times, then he took out a few abacus beads from his pocket and threw them at the back of Jiang Yan's head. "Ouch!" Jiang Yan cried out in pain, turned around, and found that it was Si Yan who was making trouble. He said angrily and helplessly: "Si Yan, what are you doing again? Dad is correcting memorials!" Si Yan smiled disapprovingly and said: "Dad, you are busy with official duties all day, it's time to move around!"

Before Jiang Yan could respond, Nian Li ran in, unwilling to be outdone. Taking advantage of Jiang Yan's inattention, she crouched under the table, picked up a pen, and began drawing chili peppers on the memorial. By the time Jiang Yan discovered it, the memorial was already covered with chili pepper patterns of all sizes and shapes. Jiang Yan's eyes widened in anger, and he stood up and shouted, "Nian Li, how could you scribble on a memorial!" Nian Li playfully stuck out her tongue, turned around, and ran away. Jiang Yan was not about to let her go, and immediately chased after her.

"Don't run!" Jiang Yan gasped, chasing after him relentlessly. Nian Li, however, was like a nimble little monkey, dodging here and there in the yard. She dodged between the flowers, then skirted the rockery, constantly shouting, "Daddy can't catch me!" Jiang Yan was breathless from her torment, but there was nothing he could do. Nian Li ran in front, Jiang Yan chasing after her, the two of them running several laps around the courtyard.

Su Jinli leaned against the porch, a plate of sunflower seeds in hand, leisurely munching on them. She couldn't help but laugh at the comical sight of her husband being chased around the yard by their children. The sunlight shone on her, outlining her gentle and happy features. At that moment, she suddenly felt that this was the life she had always wanted. With her family by her side, filled with laughter and joy, though filled with small incidents, it felt incredibly real and warm.

Grandfather wiped the sweat from his forehead and walked over to sit next to Su Jinli. He looked at Jiang Yan and Nianli chasing each other in the yard, a trace of nostalgia flashed in his eyes, and he said slowly: "Your mother used to torment me like this. At that time, she was also as naughty as Nianli, getting into trouble all day long, but people couldn't hate her." Su Jinli turned her head and looked at her grandfather, her eyes full of curiosity: "Dad, can you tell me about what happened to Mom back then?" Grandfather smiled, nodded, and began to recall those beautiful past.

"Your mother has had a strong interest in martial arts since she was a child, and she is extremely talented. Even I admire her seriousness in learning martial arts. But she is lively and always restless. Sometimes she makes a mess in the training room, and sometimes she sneaks out to compete with others. Once, she saw someone performing on the street, and she thought the person's moves were interesting, so she insisted on going up to compete with him. As a result, she beat the person to a pulp and broke his props. I had to go and apologize to him and compensate for the loss." As my grandfather spoke, a happy smile on his face, as if those interesting things in the past happened just yesterday.
