Chapter 249: Golden Wedding Candy Painting Hangs on the Bedside, Old Couple Spreads Candy

After the golden wedding banquet concluded successfully, life seemed to quietly settle into a warmer and more peaceful rhythm. The sugar painting on the bedside table, carrying such special meaning, had become a treasure that Su Jinli cherished. She carefully selected an exquisite glass cover and carefully placed the sugar painting inside, as if to lock away those beautiful memories and preserve their sweetness forever. Every night before falling asleep, Su Jinli would subconsciously cast her gaze towards the sugar painting in the glass cover, her eyes filled with tenderness and longing, as if she were gazing affectionately at those youthful years.

"You're already this old, but you're still like a little girl, taking these sugar paintings so dearly." Although Jiang Yan said this with disdain, the look in his eyes when he looked at Su Jinli was filled with endless tenderness and doting, like a deep lake, hiding his deep love for her.

"What do you care!" Su Jinli feigned anger and rolled her eyes at Jiang Yan, but there was a hint of playfulness in her eyes. "I won this sugar painting with great difficulty. It means a lot, so of course I have to treasure it."

"Yes, yes, yes," Jiang Yan smiled and gently tucked the corner of the quilt for her, his movements full of concern. "This is a treasure you won with your own ability. It means a lot."

The night was as dark as water. In the quiet room, moonlight filtered through the cracks in the window, gently spilling onto the bedside. Su Jinli gazed at the sugar painting encased in a glass case, its delicate luster shimmering in the moonlight. Her thoughts drifted back to that sunny afternoon fifty years ago. On that bustling street, a fight over a sugar painting had inadvertently sparked the beginning of their love.

"Jiang Yan," Su Jinli called softly, her voice sounding particularly gentle in the silent night, "Tell me, if I hadn't snatched that sugar painting back then, how would our story have turned out?" There was a hint of curiosity in her tone, mixed with emotion for the past years.

Jiang Yan leaned slightly to the side, reaching out and gently grasping Su Jinli's hand. Though no longer youthful and marked by the marks of time, those hands remained warm and strong. He looked at Su Jinli affectionately, his eyes gleaming with determination. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly, and he said with a hint of cunning, "Then I will definitely wait at the gate of the Prime Minister's Mansion every day. No matter what, I will grab a sugar painting and bring it to you. Because from the first moment I saw you, I knew you were the one I never wanted to miss in my life."

Su Jinli chuckled at his slightly scoundrel yet affectionate words. She gently punched his chest and scolded him, "You are such a scoundrel."

"I'm only a scoundrel to you," Jiang Yan said, placing a gentle kiss on Su Jinli's forehead, as if to express their eternal vows. At this moment, time seemed to stand still, and the whole world was just them, immersed in this sweet love.

Grandchildren's surprise attack: Grandparents' sweet attack

The next morning, sunlight streamed gently through the window into the bedroom. Jiang Yan, as usual, carefully combed Su Jinli's hair. His movements, though not expertly executed, were imbued with deep affection for her. Just then, the door suddenly slammed open, and Pan'er, like a whirlwind, rushed into the bedroom, carrying Xiaotang and Nianzu.

"Wow! Grandpa and grandma are throwing candy again!" Xiaotang shouted while covering his eyes with his hands, but his fingers were wide open. He secretly looked at the scene in front of him, his face filled with excitement and curiosity.

Nianzu looked at Jiang Yan curiously and asked, "Grandpa, I didn't expect you could comb hair?" His innocent eyes were full of admiration and curiosity for Jiang Yan.

Jiang Yan's old face turned red at the sudden intrusion of his grandchildren. He put down the comb a little embarrassedly and said with a smile: "When your grandmother was young, I often combed her hair." In that smile, there was a nostalgia for the good old days and shyness of being caught in this warm scene by his grandchildren.

"Really?" Pan'er opened her mouth in surprise. She turned to look at Su Jinli and asked curiously, "Grandma, does Grandpa comb his hair well?"

Su Jinli recalled the clumsy way Jiang Yan combed his hair when he was young, and couldn't help laughing. Tears of happiness flashed in her eyes, and she said, "It looks good, but he was clumsy at that time and always pulled my hair." Although there were some small complaints in that memory, there was more sweetness and warmth.

"Grandpa is so bad!" Xiaotang wrinkled her little nose and pretended to be angry. Her cute look made everyone laugh.

Seeing this, Jiang Yan hurriedly explained: "That's because your grandmother's hair is black, shiny and slippery, and my hands can't hold it for a while." His eyes were full of pampering, as if he was finding a cute excuse for his clumsiness back then.

"No!" Su Jinli immediately retorted, "You are just clumsy and you refuse to admit it." She pretended to be angry, but could not hide the smile in her eyes.

Watching the elderly couple bicker like children, their grandchildren burst into laughter, and the whole room was filled with joyful laughter. Su Jinli looked at this lively and heartwarming scene, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart. She suddenly felt that this daily life full of fireworks was the sweetest candy that life had given her. Every moment was worth cherishing, and every quarrel was filled with deep love.

Recalling the bitter past and cherishing the sweet past: fifty years of sharing weal and woe.

The afternoon sun lazily streamed through the courtyard, draping the entire world in a golden veil. Aunt Zhang, with a slightly unsteady gait, slowly entered the room, carrying a plate of fragrant sweet-scented osmanthus cake. Her gaze fell on the sugar painting protected by a glass cover at the headboard. She sighed softly, her eyes filled with emotion as she spoke, "My dear, Master, it's wonderful to see you so happy now."
