Chapter 298: Turbulence on the Wedding Day

Jiang Xiaohuang wore a phoenix crown, exquisitely crafted from pure gold and inlaid with countless shimmering gems and pearls. The phoenix on the crown was lifelike, as if ready to take flight at any moment. With her movements, the pearls and jadeite on the crown swayed gently, emitting a crisp and melodious sound, as if playing a beautiful piece of music. She was draped in a shawl, the vibrant red of which resembled a burning flame, blazing and flamboyant, highlighting her passion and energy. However, somewhat at odds with her festive attire, she clutched a long whip, the tip of which swayed gently in the wind, making a crackling sound. Her expression was high and her eyes shone with an unbridled heroic spirit, as if nothing in the world could restrain her freedom.

"Wait!" She pulled the reins abruptly. The chestnut horse, as if sensing its master's will, raised its front hooves high and let out a loud neigh, as if to show the world its unruly nature. Jiang Xiaohuang pointed the long whip at Mo Chen. The sound was crisp and loud, as melodious as a yellow oriole escaping the valley, but with a hint of unquestionable firmness: "I haven't agreed yet, who gave you the permission to marry?"

This sudden scene stunned everyone present. Their eyes widened as wide as bells, their faces filled with surprise and astonishment. No one had expected that Jiang Xiaohuang would make such a bold and unexpected move during such a solemn and sacred wedding ceremony. It was as if time stood still at this moment, and everyone was stunned by her unique entrance.

Su Jinli, however, laughed so hard she fell backwards, her laughter as clear and melodious as a silver bell, echoing in the air. Her eyes were filled with relief and pride, as if she saw herself in her youth. She turned to look at Jiang Yan beside her, with a hint of teasing and reminiscence in her eyes, as if she had traveled through the tunnel of time and returned to those passionate years. She smiled and said, "You are worthy of being my granddaughter!" After a pause, she gently patted Jiang Yan's arm and continued, "You were like this back then, riding a skinny horse to grab the bride."

Jiang Yan's face flushed slightly upon hearing this, the blush spreading from his cheeks to his ears, as bright as a ripe apple. He scratched his head sheepishly and stammered, "That's...that's what the situation forced me to do!"

Here, Jiang Xiaohuang and Mo Chen were in a state of confrontation. The atmosphere was tense and interesting, as if a different kind of emotion was in the air. Over there, Su Qingyao keenly noticed something unusual in the crowd. Her eyes were sharp, like a keen falcon, and she instantly caught sight of several masked men mixed in with the onlookers. These people looked sneaky, their eyes flickering, and they looked left and right from time to time. The outline of the hilt of a knife was vaguely visible at their waists. It was obvious that they were not good people, and they seemed to be planning some ulterior motive. Su Qingyao's heart suddenly tightened, and an ominous premonition came to her mind. She approached Su Xiang calmly, her steps light and cautious, like a sneaking cat. She lowered her voice and whispered in Su Xiang's ear: "Dad, there is trouble."

Upon hearing this, Prime Minister Su's expression remained as calm as an abyss, as if he remained unfazed by the collapse of Mount Tai. He nodded slightly, a hint of alarm in his eyes. He quietly grasped the jade pendant in his sleeve—a token used to mobilize the secret guards. He knew he had to remain calm at this moment, not betray his awareness, lest he alert the enemy. Beneath this seemingly calm surface, an invisible storm was brewing.

Before anyone could react, a masked figure, sensing the imminent exposure, suddenly launched a smoke bomb. With a muffled thud, the bomb exploded among the crowd, instantly releasing a torrent of acrid smoke. Like the tentacles of a demon, the smoke spread rapidly, shrouding the entire scene in chaos. The pungent smoke choked everyone, causing them to cough, their eyes watering and their vision blurred. The scene descended into chaos, with people fleeing in panic, screaming and shouting as if the world were about to end.

"Protect the young lady!" Mo Chen's voice pierced the smoke, firm and powerful, like a ray of light in the darkness, bringing a glimmer of hope to the panicked crowd. In their panic, they followed the direction of the voice, trying to find Jiang Xiaohuang and Mo Chen. Their hearts were filled with worry, wondering if the newlyweds were safe.

When the smoke finally dissipated, like the receding tide, the scene gradually became clear. Everyone was shocked to find that Jiang Xiaohuang and Mo Chen, who had been standing there, had disappeared! In front of the prime minister's residence, only a group of people were left looking at each other, their faces full of confusion and worry. And the faint smoke that had not yet dissipated floated in the air like a ghost, as if telling everything that had just happened... Everyone's heart was full of questions. Where had Jiang Xiaohuang and Mo Chen gone? Did they encounter an accident, or was there some unknown plan? The unexpected change in this wedding was like a huge rock thrown into a calm lake, stirring up layers of ripples and plunging everyone into deep confusion and worry.
