Chapter 53: Liu's evil deeds are exposed, Su Jinli escapes danger

In an atmosphere so tense it felt as if the air was frozen, Su Jinli and Jiang Yan toiled tirelessly, working day and night, practically without sleep. Su Jinli's slender fingers, rubbed with blisters from gripping the brush for so long, resembled broken pearls, a heartbreaking sight. Yet, she gritted her teeth, her eyes gleaming with unwavering determination. The unwavering resolve to achieve her goal, like a blazing flame, fueled her onward.

Seeing Su Jinli toiling so hard, Jiang Yan felt a pang of pain in his heart, as if pierced deeply by countless fine needles. He gently held Su Jinli's blistered hand, his eyes filled with pity and worry, and softly advised, "Jinli, take a break. It would be terrible if you collapsed from exhaustion." His voice was gentle and caring, like a soft spring breeze, trying to soothe Su Jinli's fatigue.

Su Jinli shook her head slightly and looked firmly at the unfinished script on the table. Although her voice was a little tired, she was still very firm: "There is no time. We must finish it before the deadline. This is not only about our future, but also about our adherence to our promise to each other." There was a resolute light in her eyes, as if announcing to time that she was determined to overcome this tight deadline.

At this crucial moment, a rush of footsteps approached from afar, and Young Marquis Su rushed in like a whirlwind. His face flushed, beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, and he shouted breathlessly, "Sister, I've found out! It was Liu who ordered Madam Zhou to steal your manuscript!"

Upon hearing this, Su Jinli's eyes flashed with a blaze of anger, a flame that seemed to burn away all of Liu's evil deeds. She clenched her fists tightly and gritted her teeth, saying, "This Liu is so treacherous and cunning. I will never let her off so easily!" Her voice trembled with anger, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from between her teeth.

Jiang Yan frowned. He was well aware of Su Jinli's anger and resentment, but the most pressing task was to finish the storybook. He gently grasped Su Jinli's shoulders and said earnestly, "Jinli, forget about Liu for now. We need to focus on finishing the manuscript first. As for Liu, we'll settle accounts with her once this is over. We absolutely cannot let her get away so easily." His eyes were firm and steady, conveying a sense of reassurance to Su Jinli.

Su Jinli took a deep breath, trying to calm her furious emotions. She nodded slightly, returning her gaze to the paper on the table. She picked up her pen again and resumed writing. At this moment, she had only one conviction in her heart: to complete the storybook before the deadline and not let Liu's scheme succeed.

Time flew by in the tense atmosphere, every minute and every second seeming precious. Su Jinli and Jiang Yan were immersed in their creation, seemingly oblivious to everything around them. Finally, with the final word written, just before the deadline, the storybook was complete. Su Jinli wearily put down her pen, tears of relief and emotion welling in her eyes. Jiang Yan looked at Su Jinli and gently embraced her. They embraced and cried, tears filled with heartache for each other, the joy of completing the task, and even more, the anticipation for the future.

Su Jinli carefully took the completed storybook and entered the palace with Jiang Yan to meet the Emperor. The palace was solemn and dignified. The Emperor sat high atop the Dragon Throne, gazing at them with a sharp gaze, a look of scrutiny and inquiry in his eyes. "Have you finished your storybook?" His voice echoed through the empty hall, carrying an undeniable majesty.

Su Jinli took a deep breath, stepped forward, and respectfully presented the script: "Your Majesty, please take a look." Although her voice was a little hoarse due to fatigue, it was still clear and firm.

The emperor nodded slightly, slowly took the storybook, and began to carefully read it. As he read deeper, a smile gradually appeared on his face, and that smile was like the warm spring sun, dispelling the slight chill in the hall. "Well, it's well written. The story is novel and unique, and the writing is smooth and natural. Su Jinli, you really didn't disappoint me." The emperor's voice was full of praise.

Su Jinli and Jiang Yan looked at each other, and a hint of surprise and relief flashed in each other's eyes. The heavy stone in their hearts finally fell to the ground.

"Your Majesty, since Su Jinli has completed the task brilliantly, I hope Your Majesty will withdraw the decree of marriage." Jiang Yan hurriedly stepped forward and said respectfully.

The emperor looked back and forth between Jiang Yan and Su Jinli, with a meaningful smile on his face, and nodded slightly: "Okay, I will grant you two lovers' wish. However, Jiang Yan, you must remember that Su Jinli is the daughter of the prime minister, and I am handing her over to you. If I find out that you bully her, I will not let you off easily." Although the emperor's voice was smiling, the warning in it was self-evident.

Jiang Yan quickly knelt and kowtowed, his attitude sincere and resolute: "Your Majesty, rest assured. I will protect Jinli for the rest of my life, treat her like a treasure, and never let her suffer the slightest injustice."

Coming out of the palace, the sunlight shone on Su Jinli and Jiang Yan, as if dispelling the previous haze for them. Su Jinli turned to look at Jiang Yan, her eyes full of smiles and gratitude: "Thanks to you, if you hadn't been by my side all the time, giving me support and encouragement, I really don't know how I would have gotten through this difficult time."

Jiang Yan gently held Su Jinli's hand and said softly: "We are one, there is no need to thank me. However, what Liu did this time is really too much, we must not let her go so easily." A hint of coldness flashed in his eyes, and he was full of indignation at Liu's behavior.
