Chapter 60: Imperial Decree Grants Marriage, Sweet Home

The wedding date, like a glittering star, was set after the Dragon Boat Festival. From the moment the imperial decree was issued, the entire capital was infused with a surge of joyful energy, as preparations for this highly anticipated grand wedding began in earnest. The entrances to the Prime Minister's and the Number One Scholar's residences were bustling with activity. Gift-bearing individuals streamed in like a tide, from high-ranking officials to ordinary people, all arriving with heartfelt blessings, expressing their best wishes for the newlyweds.

Su Jinli stood in the middle of the room filled with dowry, looking at the dazzling array of treasures. She couldn't help but frown slightly, and said to Jiang Yan beside her with a slight headache, "How are we going to move all these things later? I feel like they could fill up the entire No. 1 Scholar's Mansion."

Jiang Yan smiled softly, stretched out his arms and gently embraced her, his eyes full of affection and doting, and said softly: "Don't worry, we will move slowly. After all, there is still a long time to go. A lifetime is enough time for us to slowly place these objects that carry blessings."

Su Jinli raised her head slightly and rolled her eyes at him, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but rise slightly, and she said angrily: "You are the only one who knows how to talk nonsense. They are just some external things, why go to so much trouble?" Although she said so, she couldn't hide the smile in her eyes.

Finally, amidst everyone's eager anticipation, the wedding day arrived like a blossoming flower. That day, the capital seemed shrouded in a festive red veil. The streets and alleys were festooned with lights, and bright red lanterns swayed gently in the breeze, seeming to express joy. Gongs and drums roared, firecrackers exploded, and the bustling sound seemed to gather the entire capital's joy.

Su Jinli wore a gorgeous crimson wedding gown, meticulously embroidered with gold and silver threads, creating exquisite designs that shimmered captivatingly in the sunlight. She wore a phoenix crown, its pearls and jade swaying gently with her movements, creating a melodious sound. She sat upright in the bridal sedan, feeling a mixture of nervousness and excitement, her heart racing like a fluttering deer.

As the sedan rocked slightly, her thoughts drifted back to her past life. Her wedding had been cold and deserted, filled with desolation and helplessness, a painful memory she didn't want to revisit. But now, looking at this incredibly grand scene, feeling the overflowing blessings and joy, her eyes couldn't help but well up slightly, tears welling up in them, tears of happiness and emotion.

As the sedan landed steadily, Jiang Yan walked quickly to the front with steady yet eager steps. He gently lifted the curtain and extended his hand to Su Jinli. His palm was broad and warm, as if it could shield her from the wind and rain, giving her an endless sense of security. Su Jinli trembled slightly as she gently placed her hand in his palm. Instantly, a familiar and warm warmth spread throughout her body, calming her heart.

"Madam, we're going home." Jiang Yan's voice was gentle and firm, like a spring breeze, gently blowing through Su Jinli's heart.

Su Jinli nodded slightly, her eyes gleaming with happiness. With Jiang Yan's support, she slowly stepped out of the sedan chair and followed him into the gate of the Champion's Mansion. The mansion was decorated with lights and colors, and was magnificently decorated. Every detail showed joy and grandeur.

Witnessed by the crowd, Su Jinli and Jiang Yan solemnly bowed to heaven and earth, completing this sacred ritual. Afterward, Su Jinli was escorted to the bridal chamber. She sat quietly by the bed, awaiting Jiang Yan's arrival. Her heart pounded like a rabbit, eagerly anticipating a moment alone with Jiang Yan.

Soon, the door creaked open, and Jiang Yan walked in with steady steps. He held a scale in his hand, his eyes filled with love and anticipation as he slowly approached Su Jinli. He leaned forward slightly and used the scale to gently lift Su Jinli's veil. His movements were gentle and slow, as if he were uncovering an inestimably precious treasure.

The veil slowly fell, and their eyes met. In that moment, time seemed to stand still for them. They stared at each other, their eyes fixed on the other's figure. Then, they smiled at the same time. That smile was like a flower blooming in spring, full of sweetness and happiness.

"Madam, you are so beautiful." Jiang Yan looked at Su Jinli, love surging in his eyes like a tide, and that affectionate gaze seemed to melt her whole body.

Su Jinli's cheeks flushed instantly, as beautiful as the sunset in the sky. She lowered her head slightly and said softly, "Zhuangyuanlang, you are also very handsome." Her voice was soft, but full of deep love.

Just as the two were immersed in this sweet atmosphere, the door suddenly slammed open, and Young Marquis Su rushed in like a happy little deer. He waved a red envelope in his hand, a bright smile on his face, and shouted loudly: "Sister! Brother Jiang Yan! This is a wedding gift for you!"

Su Jinli and Jiang Yan were startled by the sudden intruder. Turning around, they saw the words "Wishing my sister and brother-in-law a son soon" written on the red envelope. Su Jinli couldn't help laughing. She opened the red envelope and saw a heavy ingot of silver inside.

"Where did you get the money?" Su Jinli asked curiously.

Young Marquis Su proudly raised his head, puffed out his chest, and said loudly: "I sold my toy sword! Those people said that my sword was an antique and very valuable, and gave me a hundred taels! I thought of giving this silver to my sister and brother-in-law as a wedding gift. I wish you a prosperous life in the future!" He looked so cute and innocent that people couldn't help laughing.

Su Jinli and Jiang Yan couldn't help but burst into laughter after hearing this. Su Jinli laughed and scolded, "You silly boy, why did you sell your beloved sword? It's your treasure."

Young Marquis Su scratched his head and said with a smile, "It's okay, sister. I think giving you gifts is more important. Besides, I can buy them back when I find something fun in the future."
