In the Dajing Dynasty, sunlight shone on the vermilion gate of the Prime Minister's residence, reflecting a dazzling light. Su Jinli and Jiang Yan returned home after their wedding, and the Prime Minister's residence was decorated with lanterns and colorful decorations, with servants coming and going, a scene of great bustle.
Su Jinli, radiant in her gorgeous attire for a return visit, and Jiang Yan, elegant in his azure shirt, walked hand in hand into the Prime Minister's residence. As they entered, they saw Young Marquis Su, clutching his iconic broadsword (though it was a toy, it was incredibly imposing), rushing over with a vengeance, shouting, "Sister! Brother Jiang Yan! You're finally back!"
Su Jinli smiled and reached out to pull her brother's ear, scolding him, "You're still so impulsive. Are you taking out that big knife to scare people again?"
Young Marquis Su put his hands on his hips angrily and muttered, "I'm just trying to support my sister! If anyone dares to bully my sister, I'll chop his entire family down!"
Jiang Yan smiled and shook his head, jokingly saying, "Young Marquis, you can't just chop people casually, or your sister will teach you a lesson again."
As the three of them were talking, Su Qingyao came over with elegant steps, holding an exquisite box in her hand. She handed it to Su Jinli in a proud manner, rolled her eyes and said sarcastically, "Hmph, you've dressed up well today. Here's a box of new rouge for you. The color suits you perfectly. It's much better than that old woman from the Liu family!"
Su Jinli took the box and said with a smile: "Sister loves me so much, I know she has good things."
As the family was enjoying themselves, Liu arrived with several maids. Liu held a teacup, a fake smile plastered on her face, but a subtle glint of malice flashed in her eyes. Behind her, the maids, holding a wine jug and wine glass, slowly approached.
Liu said hypocritically, "Jinli, your return home today is really a great joy for the Prime Minister's Mansion. Consider this glass of wine as a toast to you." As she said that, she signaled the maid to pour wine for Su Jinli.
Su Jinli was wary. Her past life's tragic experiences had made her wary of Liu's every move. She looked at the glass of wine but didn't reach for it. Instead, she sneered, "Liu, I wouldn't drink this wine easily. Who knows if there's something shameful in it?"
Liu's expression changed slightly. She wiped away her nonexistent tears with a handkerchief and said in a wronged tone, "Jinli, how can you say that to me? I have always treated you as my own daughter. This wine today is just a token of my gratitude."
At this moment, Su Qingyao stepped forward, snatched the wine glass, and poured the wine at the maid, angrily scolding, "Is it your turn to offer my sister's wine? Liu, don't think we don't know your evil intentions. We haven't settled the score with you for the wedding hall incident last time, and you want to do it again today?"
The maidservant beside Liu was splashed with wine in the face and trembled with fear. Seeing this, Liu was furious, but she didn't dare to attack. She could only suppress her anger and said, "Qingyao, how could you do this to me? I am your elder!"
Young Marquis Su also came over, carrying a large sword, and said angrily, "Humph, elder? You don't deserve it! You've bullied my sister time and time again, don't think we'll let you go!"
Liu looked at the scene before her, feeling angry and resentful, yet helpless. She gritted her teeth, thinking of finding a chance to take revenge on Su Jinli.
At this moment, Su Xiang walked out from the inner hall. He stroked his beard, looked at Liu with a gloomy face, and said, "Liu, don't think I don't know what you have done over the years. It was because I was soft-hearted that I allowed you to be so presumptuous. Today, Jinli is returning home. If you dare to play tricks again, don't blame me for being rude!"
Liu was startled when she heard this, but she still pretended to be calm and said, "Master, I really don't have any other intentions. I just want to offer a glass of wine to Jinli."
Prime Minister Su snorted coldly, no longer paying attention to Liu, and turned to Su Jinli and Jiang Yan and said, "Jinli, Yan'er, follow me to the study."
Su Jinli and Jiang Yan exchanged a glance and followed Su Xiang to the study. Su Xiang closed the study door, pulled out a thick book from behind the bookshelf, and handed it to Jiang Yan, saying sternly, "Yan'er, take this 'The Complete Guide to Harem Management.' Don't be soft-hearted like I was back then, letting your mother-in-law do what she did. Jinli has suffered so much in her past life. You must protect her well. If anything happens in the harem again, follow the instructions in this book."
Jiang Yan took the book and said seriously, "Don't worry, father-in-law. Jinli is the one I love most. I will never let her get hurt again."
Su Jinli looked at her father and Jiang Yan, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart. She knew that her father had completely come to his senses and was beginning to protect her sincerely.
After leaving the study, Su Jinli and Jiang Yan returned to the front hall. Liu Shi was nowhere to be seen, presumably having left in disgrace. Young Marquis Su came over and asked curiously, "Sister, what did Dad tell you?"
Su Jinli smiled and tapped her brother's head, saying, "You're just a kid, why are you asking so many questions? Let's go eat. We have to try the food at the Xiangfu Mansion today."
So, the family went to the dining room and sat together. Laughter and joy filled the table, a stark contrast to the previous tension. Su Jinli looked at her family, her heart filled with happiness. However, she knew that the Liu family would not give up, and that more challenges would likely await her in the days ahead. But now, with the support of her family and Jiang Yan's company, she was no longer afraid of any difficulties.
After dinner, Su Jinli and Jiang Yan took a stroll in the Xiangfu Garden. The garden was ablaze with flowers, the grass was lush, and the fragrance of flowers filled the air. Jiang Yan gently held Su Jinli's hand and said softly, "Jinli, don't be afraid, I'm here. No matter what Liu does, I won't let her hurt you in the slightest."
Su Jinli looked up at Jiang Yan, her eyes full of love, and said, "Well, I believe you. However, I will no longer allow myself to be bullied like I did in my previous life. I want to protect our home with you."
