Chapter 173 Rou Niang and the Emperor are angry

Liu Rou Niang and Yu Jin hurriedly entered the palace. A eunuch greeted them, and Rou Niang asked as they walked, "What's going on? Why is the Crown Prince sick? What illness does he have? What did the imperial physician say?"

The eunuchs replied one by one: "Your Highness, the Crown Prince suddenly collapsed for some unknown reason. The imperial physicians are helpless. However, His Highness has a high fever and keeps calling out the princess's name, so His Majesty ordered someone to invite the princess to the palace."

Rou Niang became even more anxious upon hearing this. This child had never been sick since birth because of the spiritual spring water within the space; why was he so suddenly so violent this time?

Although they were talking, they did not slow down and finally arrived at the Crown Prince's palace.

As soon as Rou Niang opened the door, she smelled the strong aroma of medicine filling the room. She quickly went over and saw Mo Xiaojin already lying on the bed. He wasn't in good condition; his face was flushed, and a cold compress was placed over his forehead.

Seeing Mo Xiaojin like this, Rou Niang couldn't help but rush forward: "Xiao Shan, Xiao Shan, Mother is here."

At this moment, Rou Niang didn't care about the Crown Prince or the palace. He was just that pitiful Mo Xiaoshan from the mountain valley, the son she raised. That was all!

Yu Jin was also a little flustered, after all, she had never seen Mo Xiaojin so weak before.

Yu Jin rushed over immediately, crying out, "Brother Xiao Shan, wake up, Brother Xiao Shan!"

But Mo Xiaojin seemed to be trapped in a nightmare, showing no reaction whatsoever.

Liu Rou Niang never expected that her perfectly healthy child would turn out like this after being sent to the incredibly wealthy palace. If she had known this would happen, she would have preferred not to be the crown prince!

The resentment was then vented on the emperor; how could he be a father?

At this moment, the emperor also arrived. Seeing Liu Rou Niang and her daughter crying around Mo Xiao Jin, he felt sad. Did he not love Mo Xiao Jin? Of course he did.

That was his only child, and he was wholeheartedly raising him, wanting to pass on his throne to him, so he was a bit stricter and more anxious.

Mo Xiaojin came from the common people, so he naturally missed out on a lot of what emperors should learn. Therefore, the emperor made him learn more and filled his days with activities. However, he did not expect that the child's body was so fragile. Even so, and he did not lack food or clothing, how could he get sick?

Imagine him fighting bloody battles on the battlefield, where the environment was even more difficult, yet he never fell ill.

The emperor didn't understand where he had gone wrong, but seeing Rou Niang crying so sadly, he felt a little guilty: "You don't need to worry too much. Children always get sick. We won't let him study for the next few days. We can catch up on what he missed after he recovers. Let him rest well these days. He's just too weak!"

Hearing the Emperor's words, Rou Niang became even angrier: "What are you learning!" She stood up and looked coldly at the Emperor. The Emperor felt even more guilty for no reason. He didn't know why. His son was his son. Why should he feel guilty?

However, he still stammered, "Oh, it's nothing. I just made him pick up what he was supposed to be learning. You know, he hadn't learned it before and had fallen behind a lot, so his schedule was quite full. I think that's probably why he got sick from the pressure."

Rou Niang became even angrier upon hearing this. She no longer cared whether the person in front of her was an emperor or not. She said angrily, "My perfectly healthy son was placed in your hands, and you've made him sick like this! And now you're acting so indifferent. If you don't want this son, then you can just give him back to me, and I'll raise him!"

"We don't care about any prince!"

Upon hearing this, the servants were so frightened they dared not breathe. The emperor's face also darkened; he hadn't expected anyone to dare speak to him like that.

"He is my son!" But after glancing at Mo Xiaojin, who was lying ill in bed, he ultimately said nothing of punishment and left angrily.

Liu Rou Niang stayed by Mo Xiao Jin's side, her heart filled with sorrow. If this emperor continued to pressure Mo Xiao Jin like this, she feared Mo Xiao Jin would fall ill again.

Rou Niang was both worried and helpless. Regardless, she poured two large bowls of spiritual spring water into Mo Xiaojin's mouth, hoping it would have some effect. Then she stayed by his side. Before she knew it, Liu Rou Niang had fallen asleep in the middle of the night.

Yu Jin didn't leave either, but stayed by his side and said, "I'll stay with you, Brother Xiaoshan."

Although Mo Xiaojin couldn't hear, he held Yu Jin's hand tightly.

Mo Xiaojin was feeling extremely hot all over, almost unbearably so. Just then, he felt a stream of cold water being poured over him, bringing him immense relief.

Then he heard Rou Niang's voice and Yu Jin's voice. He said, "Brother Xiao Shan, don't be afraid, I'll stay with you."

Mo Xiaojin knew they were here, right beside her, but where was she? She couldn't open her eyes or lift her hands. Although the warmth had dissipated, she felt incredibly tired and weak.

Just then, a golden dragon suddenly appeared in his mind. He remembered that it was the golden dragon from his dream. The golden dragon was hovering around him, looking arrogant and domineering.

It seems the golden dragon is truly inside him. Suddenly, the golden dragon coiled around Mo Xiaojin, who couldn't break free. The golden dragon seemed to be competing with him, both vying for dominance. Although he didn't know what dominance meant, that was his subconscious belief.

He felt he had exhausted his strength and still couldn't break free from the golden dragon's grasp. He was about to give up when suddenly he felt his left hand gain some strength, more and more. Then he struggled desperately with his left hand and finally managed to grab the golden dragon's neck. The golden dragon suddenly shrank to the size of a bracelet and quietly wrapped around his left wrist. He was amazed.

Just then, he seemed to hear Yu Jin's voice again, over and over again.

"Brother Xiaoshan, why aren't you awake yet? Brother Xiaoshan, please wake up! Jin'er is a little scared. Brother Xiaoshan, let's not be the Crown Prince anymore, okay? Let's go back, I won't be a princess anymore, let's go back to Fucheng, okay?"

Mo Xiaojin followed the calls and tried to open his eyes. He couldn't see anything in the dark space, but he could hear the voice. He followed the sound and walked for an unknown amount of time. Then the voice seemed to get closer and closer to him.

Just a little more effort forward, a little more pushing herself, and Mo Xiaojin felt a lightness in her body.

When he opened his eyes again, he saw Yu Jin holding his hand in the dim candlelight, her eyes brimming with tears.

He laughed, his voice hoarse: "Silly girl, why are you crying? You look awful crying."

Yu Jin heard Mo Xiaojin's voice. She looked over happily and saw that he had opened his eyes. Yu Jin exclaimed joyfully, "Mother, Brother Xiaoshan is awake! Mother, Brother Xiaosheng is awake!"
