Chapter 193 Rou Niang's Brother

Several months later, Rou Niang took her own life.

This time everything went smoothly because the midwife was prepared in advance, and Rou Niang was experienced and didn't panic.

That night, while sleeping, Rou Niang felt a stomachache.

She got up and saw that it was a little red. Based on her experience, she knew this was the beginning.

"Mo Bei, Xiao Wu is coming out soon," Rou Niang said.

Mo Bei, quick-witted, got up and, despite it being the middle of the night, went out to find a midwife.

Mingyue and Chunhong also prepared all the necessary production tools in an orderly manner.

Rou Niang began to feel abdominal pain and contractions, but at first, she still had the appetite to drink the ginseng soup that Chun Hong brought her.

Actually, she wasn't worried. When she gave birth to Yujin alone in the cave back then, that was much more dangerous. This was nothing!

However, Mo Bei was extremely anxious. He waited outside the delivery room, pacing back and forth.

Mo Bei originally wanted to go inside, but even Rou Niang wouldn't allow it and insisted that he leave. Left with no other option, Mo Bei had to wait in the courtyard.

It's late at night now, and the dew is heavy outside. Rou Niang asked Ming Yue to persuade Mo Bei to go to sleep, because she knew that she would have to wait until she gave birth.

Mo Bei refused, clinging to the window and saying, "Rou Niang, don't be afraid, I'm right outside. Call me if you need anything."

Rou Niang felt a warmth in her heart; how fortunate she was to have met Mo Bei.

Perhaps Xiao Wu was understanding of his mother's difficulties, so he didn't make much of a fuss and came out in an hour.

"Wah~!" The baby's cry broke the silence of the night.

"Congratulations, General! It's a little prince!" the midwife said.

"Good, good, reward me!" Mo Bei was overjoyed. He looked up at the starry sky, just like when the two of them had their heart-to-heart talk that day.

Once the delivery room was ready, Rou Niang allowed Chun Hong to let Mo Bei in.

"Rou Niang, you've worked so hard!" Even though Chun Hong changed Rou Niang's clothes and bedding and tidied her up a bit, Mo Bei could still tell from Rou Niang's pale face that she was exhausted.

Rou Niang only let out a soft cry during the crucial moments of childbirth. It wasn't that she wasn't in pain; it was that she was experienced and had gathered her strength. On the other hand, she also didn't want Mo Bei to worry.

"It's not hard work. By the way, have you chosen a name for Xiao Wu yet?" Rou Niang smiled and handed Xiao Wu to Mo Bei to see.

The little one was sleeping soundly with his eyes closed.

Perhaps due to good nutrition, unlike Rou Niang's three previous children who were wrinkled, Xiao Wu was chubby and lovable from birth!

"I've decided, Rou Niang, let's call her Zi Chen, Mo Zi Chen," Mo Bei said, recalling the starry sky.

"Mo Zichen, it sounds great!" Rou Niang smiled and handed Xiao Wu to Mo Bei.

Mo Bei hurriedly held the tiny baby in his arms. Although he had held Mo Xiaojin when he was little, the feeling was different. He wanted to give the best of the world to the baby in his arms. As long as he wanted it and as long as he had it, he would not be stingy!

Seeing Rou Niang yawn, he quickly handed the child to the wet nurse, saying, "Rou Niang, you should rest well. I'll stay with you!"

Rou Niang said to Mo Bei, "You should go and rest too."

Mo Bei nodded, embraced Rou Niang without any disgust, and the two slept together in the same bed!

The three Yu Rong sisters learned that Rou Niang had given birth in the morning, and the three of them chatted around Xiao Wu.

But it's all the older sister's affection for her younger brother.

When the Crown Prince found out, he came to see for himself and brought many fine gifts.

Of course, the emperor and the six women in the harem all sent gifts.

When Old Madam Liu and her son arrived, Zhou and Wu naturally followed, taking turns holding the little boy and showering him with praise.

For the first time, Rou Niang gave birth to a child and was loved and blessed by everyone!

She felt very happy.

Madam Zhang naturally came over as well, and the two chatted for a long time. The Zhang couple decided to go to the border town to protect their home and country!

So they delivered the baby's one-month celebration gift ahead of schedule. They left in a hurry, and Yu Yan said goodbye with reluctance. She knew that for her godparents, this was both a trial and an opportunity!

Because the baby was still young, only her own family came to celebrate the baby's one-month birthday. They had a simple celebration and a meal.

Rou Niang was in a better mood after her confinement period ended. Xiao Wu was taken care of by a wet nurse, so she was the least worried. It was also the first time Rou Niang experienced the joy of childbirth!

I didn't have to work day and night with a crying baby, breastfeeding and doing chores. I didn't have to worry myself sick over making a living. This is just how wonderful, comfortable and easy it is.

After the full moon, Rou Niang took Xiao Wu and Mo Bei to Old Man Mo's grave, which was a belated consolation.

When I got home, I saw a thin man dressed in a pudding-themed outfit standing in front of my house with an equally thin little girl.

"This is?"

"Sister, I've finally found you, sister!" The man stepped forward, only to be blocked by Mo Bei.

"Sister, don't you recognize your little brother? It's me, Li Dabao!" Li Dabao said. Li Dabao is Li Dashan's son and Rou Niang's half-brother!

Rou Niang, thinking that she was still holding the child and couldn't stay at the door, said coldly, "Come in and talk!"

"Sigh, alright, alright, I told you I'm your brother. The gatekeeper wouldn't let me in because of my shabby clothes. Sister, this gatekeeper is no good, you need to replace him!" Li Dabao said, pulling his daughter inside.

Rou Niang handed the child to Ming Yue to take away, and then together with Mo Bei, she led Li Dabao into the hall.

"Li Dabao, I severed ties with Li Dashan years ago and changed my surname to Liu. I have nothing to do with you anymore!" Rou Niang said coldly.

She didn't have a good impression of this younger brother. She had liked him when they were little. Back then, Da Bao was very young and innocent, and he would call her "sister." But Li Shi gradually led him astray. Later on, Da Bao would only bully her openly and secretly. The sibling affection had long been gone because of her repeated beatings and scoldings!

“Sister, I know that Father hurt you back then, but sister, when he passed away, he was still calling your name. He still wanted me to have a chance to see you,” Li Dabao said.

"When did he leave?" Rou Niang asked. It would be a lie to say she didn't care at all.

“Last year,” Li Dabao sighed, “when Father was seriously ill, he was also thinking of you and said sorry.”

Rou Niang felt a pang of sadness; she and Li Dashan could only say that their father-daughter bond was shallow.

"Sister, this is my daughter, your niece Li Niannian, the name Father gave her. Niannian, call her Aunt!" Seeing Rou Niang's expression soften, Li Dabao quickly nudged Li Niannian and said.

"Aunt," Li Niannian said as she stepped forward. She was much younger than Yu Jin and greeted her politely.

Rou Niang held her name firmly in her hand, her heart filled with emotion.

"Since you're here, please settle in first. We can talk about anything else later." Seeing Rou Niang's state, Mo Bei was afraid she would be upset, so he quickly had someone lead the others down to settle in.

"Hey, hey, listen to your brother-in-law, let's go rest first." Li Dabao led Li Niannian downstairs with the housekeeper.

"Rou Niang~" Mo Bei grasped Rou Niang's hand.

"Mo Bei, he's dead, he—" Rou Niang didn't know what to say. She had been so heartless back then, but even now, hearing that Li Dashan was dead still filled her with sorrow.
