"Boss Lei has a terrible temper!"
Just then, a delicate, affected voice rang out. Everyone looked up and saw Hua Ruyi. She was different from how she appeared in the teahouse; now she was dressed in flamboyant attire. Li Rouniang was stunned and hurried forward:
"Ruyi, what brings you here?"
"We'll talk about everything else when we get home. Let's figure out how to save them first," Hua Ruyi said in a low voice.
When Lei Dayong saw Hua Ruyi, his eyes widened: "Well, you actually dare to show your face."
"What wouldn't I dare? What happened back then is something you owe me, not something I owe you." Hua Ruyi smiled alluringly.
Lei Dayong looked at Hua Ruyi and asked, "So what brings you here today?"
"No, Boss Lei keeps his word. You made a promise to me back then that you haven't kept," Hua Ruyi said.
"You want to save that mother and daughter?" Lei Dayong asked directly.
"Boss Lei is really smart; I did have that intention."
"Hua Rumeng, oh no, she should be called Hua Ruyi now, right? Since you've decided to live a peaceful life, it's best not to get involved in these kinds of things anymore," Lei Dayong said abruptly.
Hua Ruyi shook her head and sighed, "How can one live a carefree life while living in the mortal world?"
"Alright, I agree to your terms today." Boss Lei waved his hand, signaling his henchmen to bring Xiu'er and her daughter out.
Xiuer came out and quickly ran towards Li Rouniang.
"Are you alright? Is the baby alright?" Li Rouniang asked anxiously, looking the baby over.
Xiu shook her head and knelt down before Li Rouniang and Hua Ruyi: "Thank you for saving me. From now on, my daughter and I will be loyal to you for the rest of our lives."
"Get up quickly, what nonsense are you talking about?" Li Rouniang helped Xiu'er up.
Lei Dayong laughed and said, "Hey, aren't you going to thank me for going easy on you?"
Upon hearing this, Xiuer hugged her child tightly and stood behind Li Rouniang.
"Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Lei. We'll be leaving now," Hua Ruyi said gracefully.
"Wait, they can go first, you stay."
“No, we must go together,” Li Rouniang said, protecting Hua Ruyi.
Although she didn't know what was going on between Hua Ruyi and Boss Li, she knew from Hua Ruyi's absence that Hua Ruyi didn't want to come, but only came because she was afraid something might happen to her.
Therefore, she could not abandon Hua Ruyi and leave on her own at this moment.
"Rou Niang, it's alright, you can go back and wait for me." Hua Ruyi smiled, patted Li Rou Niang's hand, and gestured for them to leave first. Li Rou Niang had no choice but to leave with Xiu'er and her daughter.
She arrived at Ruyi Teahouse, but it was already closed. She led Xiu and her daughter inside. Waiting for Hua Ruyi:
"Now my daughter and I belong to you. From now on, we are your servants. Let me call you 'Miss' instead," Xiu'er said after thinking for a moment.
"No, please. Why don't you just call me Sister Li? Since you have nowhere to go, come home with me later," Li Rouniang said.
She didn't want to be addressed as "Miss" or "Young Master."
“Okay, Sister Li. Thank you for saving us,” Xiu’er said.
Li Rongniang quickly waved her hand: "Let's not talk about this. By the way, take this money and buy some things for yourself and Xiaocao. We'll go back in a little while."
"I can't accept this."
"I won't take it for free. You can pay me back when you make money in the future."
Xiuer then accepted the money, hurriedly took Xiaocao to the street, bought some necessities, and then returned.
However, Hua Ruyi has not returned after so long, and Li Rouniang is getting anxious.
Just as she was about to go out to find Hua Ruyi, Hua Ruyi walked in.
"Ruyi, are you alright?" Li Rouniang asked with concern.
"It's nothing, why are you still here? Haven't you gone back?" Hua Ruyi asked.
I was a little worried because you didn't come back.
"What could be wrong? You go back first, we can talk again tomorrow, I'm a little tired," Hua Ruyi said.
Li Rouniang had no choice but to nod and leave with Xiuer. After they all left, Hua Ruyi finally sat down in a chair, exhausted.
Yes, what could possibly happen between a man and a woman?
"Xiuer, tell me about your story."
On the way back, Li Rouniang asked, since she wanted to keep Xiuer and her daughter here, she needed to understand the whole situation.
So that we can make plans for other things in the future.
"My mother died the year I was born, and I grew up relying on my father. Later, my father became addicted to gambling. One day, someone came to our door to collect debts and threatened to cut off his hand, so I ran away and paid off the debt with myself. I never saw my father again after that. I was transferred from one man to another by the casino, and I thought that was the end of my life."
Later, I met Er Gou. He didn't look down on me and took me back to Zhao Family Village, telling everyone I was his wife. I was very grateful to him. So I could tolerate whatever he did to me, except that one day he drank too much and beat me, and the baby was gone. I was heartbroken.
But he insisted on being with me regardless of everything... I tolerated all of that, but I never expected that one day he would actually reach out to the grass.
That's his own daughter. I couldn't bear this monster any longer, so I wanted to end this miserable life with my child in my arms, and then I met you.
That day, when I got home, I was given a severe beating and tortured. Then Ah Gou tied me up and, along with the child, gave us all back to the gambling den.
It briefly recounts the first half of Xiuer's life. These few short sentences, however, reveal Xiuer's helplessness and sorrow.
"Have you ever thought about going to find your father again?" Li Rouliang asked.
"I'm not looking anymore, we can't find it anyway." Xiu'er shook her head.
Why didn't she think of going to look for him? But the house was deserted, and the house had been mortgaged. She had nothing left. She asked the neighbors, but no one had seen her father again. She thought the worst outcome was that he couldn't pay back the money and was thrown into a mass grave.
It's all fate.
Li Rouniang didn't say anything more, patted Xiuer's shoulder and said, "You'll stay with me for now. Don't think too much about it. What are your plans for the future?"
"Don't worry, Sister Li, I won't be a burden to you. I know some sewing skills, and I can sell my embroidery in town to make money."
Li Rouniang nodded, quite pleased. It's always good to have the ability to make a living.
"Mother, you're back!" Erni and Dani ran up to her.
Li Rouniang introduced the two children: "This is your Aunt Xiu. She will be living with us from now on. And this is Little Grass. You must treat her as well as you treat Sanni, understand?"
"We know," Da Ni and Er Ni greeted obediently.
“I think Xiaocao is about the same age as Sanni, but I haven’t asked her yet. What time was Xiaocao born?” Li Rouniang asked.
"Little Grass is actually almost seven months old," Xiu'er said with heartache.
Li Rouniang felt sorry for her. She was more than three months older than Sanni, but she was so small. Alas, she had a hard life. She would have to make sure Sanni got proper nutrition in the future.
