Chapter 389 Quietly Watching Your Acting
The next day, Diancui continued to take Min Qiaoshi shopping, buying things, and enjoying Da'e delicacies.
From the time they left home in the morning until they were about to find a place to have lunch, nothing happened.
Just when Min Qiao thought she might have to return empty-handed, what she had expected finally happened.
The three of them entered a restaurant.
Diancui took the initiative to say to the waiter who came up to them, "Take us to a private room upstairs."
The waiter greeted the three of them with a smile and led them inside, but when he heard Diancui's words, he didn't immediately agree. "Oh, I'm sorry, we have too many customers today, and several private rooms have already been booked."
"I need to check with the manager to see if there are any private rooms upstairs."
"Sorry, please wait a moment."
After saying that, the waiter quickly ran to the counter and asked a question.
Because the restaurant was so busy, there was so much talking in the lobby that Min Qiaoshi couldn't hear the conversation between the waiter and the manager.
She only saw what the waiter said: the shopkeeper first shook his head, then flipped through the booklet in his hand, and finally smiled and pointed to the booklet in his hand.
Then the waiter ran over with a big smile and said, "Good luck, everyone. A guest just cancelled their reservation for a private room. Please come upstairs."
"Thank you for your trouble." Diancui smiled and took out a few coins to stuff into the shop assistant's pocket.
The waiter didn't complain about the small amount and led the three of them upstairs with a smile.
The group entered the private room and had just sat down when a waiter brought them complimentary tea.
The waiter who led them upstairs handed them the menu and waited for Madam Min and the others to order.
Min Qiaoshi didn't look at it much, just glanced at it briefly, and then handed the menu to Zhen Huan beside her.
"Bring four of your restaurant's signature dishes, the ones that are soft and easy to digest. The rest..."
She looked at Zhen Huan and said, "Pick a few that you like."
As for the kingfisher feather ornament, it's still standing to the side.
These days, although Diancui rides in a carriage with them, she never sits at the same table as Min Qiaoshi when eating, watching plays, drinking tea, or listening to storytelling.
At first, Madam Min invited her to sit with her, but Diancui refused, saying that she was not worthy to sit with Madam Min.
Seeing her resolute attitude, Madam Min Qiao stopped pressuring her. She only needed to think of herself and Zhen Huan in everything.
He nodded and pointed to two more dishes that Min Qiaoshi liked from the menu, as well as a soup, before putting the menu down.
After the waiter left, Madam Min Qiao told Diancui to go downstairs and get something to eat.
Diancui smiled and agreed.
However, not long after Diancui left, there was a knock on the door of the private room.
Both Min Qiaoshi and Zhen Huan thought it was a waiter coming to serve the food. They were just thinking that the restaurant was doing so well, but they didn't expect the food to be served so quickly.
But after waiting for a while, no one came in.
Just as Madam Min Qiao was about to call Zhen Huan to check what was going on, the door to the private room was suddenly pushed open forcefully.
A maid-like woman stood impatiently at the door. "Why aren't you opening the door?"
"Why should we open the door?" He actually glanced sideways at the maid.
The maid said angrily, "The private room you are sitting in was reserved by us a long time ago!"
"We originally intended to speak with you politely, but since you are so rude, we don't need to be polite to you anymore."
"Hey, hurry up and give us the private room."
"My young mistress is waiting for lunch."
He frowned slightly and said coldly, "The manager said this private room was returned to someone. What? Did you change your mind after returning it?"
The young maid choked, a flicker of panic crossing her eyes, before she said firmly, "What do you mean by 'go back on your word'? We never backed out!"
"Stop talking and get out of here!"
After saying that, he was about to come up and rummage through it.
He actually raised his foot and kicked the maid who had just arrived in front of him away.
The maid fell to the ground, clutching her stomach and wailing in pain.
The commotion was quite loud, and people from the surrounding private rooms kept coming out to check on the situation.
As more and more people gathered outside the private room, Madam Min Qiao couldn't help but curl the corners of her mouth into a smile.
She calmly glanced at the maid, then her gaze passed over her and landed on the young woman behind her. "Aren't you going to say something?"
The young woman frowned, looked coldly at Madam Min, and said in a suppressed voice, "Madam, aren't you going a bit too far with your actions?"
Madam Min Qiao feigned surprise and said, "I haven't done anything yet, how is this going too far?"
The young woman, her face grim, accused, "First they took our reserved private room, and then they assaulted us. If that's not going too far, then what would be?"
Madam Min scoffed, "The manager said this private room was booked by someone else who cancelled their reservation, otherwise he wouldn't have let us in. As for the assault, wasn't it your maid who started it?"
"If anyone's to blame, it's her skill level."
"So you're just saying you're not as skilled! Since you're being so unreasonable, old lady, then I don't need to be polite with you."
The young woman also lost her temper and beckoned to the two rough-looking women behind her, saying, "Go and invite the old lady out."
"Yes," the two old women replied, rolling up their sleeves as they prepared to enter the private room.
Madam Min remained seated as still as a mountain, and then gave Zhen Huan a meaningful look.
He nodded slightly, stood up, and waited for the two to approach.
The situation was on the verge of erupting.
Just then, an old and dignified voice rang out behind the young woman.
"Third daughter-in-law of the Liu family, what are you doing?"
The young woman turned around at the sound of her voice. Upon seeing the person, she quickly bowed respectfully and greeted her politely, "Greetings, Madam. I just encountered an unreasonable old lady who tried to take my private room. I didn't mean to disturb you. I apologize."
The crowd quickly made way for the newcomer.
Min Qiaoshi, who was facing the entrance of the private room, was not surprised to see the old woman, Lady Wang, the wife of the Marquis of Pingyan, walking past the crowd to the entrance of the private room.
"Oh my, is that so? Well then, I'll have to be your judge."
Wang walked over to Liu San's side with a smile, patted her reassuringly, and then looked into the private room, where she met Min Qiao's gaze.
In an instant, countless emotions flashed in Wang's eyes.
astonishment, shock, disbelief, surprise, long-awaited reunion, ecstatic joy...
In the end, she suppressed all her emotions, and everything returned to calm.
Madam Min watched Wang's act with a half-smile, her eyes filled with coldness.
Finally, Wang composed herself and said calmly, "This matter is simple. Just call the shopkeeper over and ask him. Everything will be clear then."
As he spoke, he instructed his attendants to fetch the shopkeeper.
However, before they could even go downstairs, the shopkeeper had already heard the news and rushed over in a panic.
When the shopkeeper saw so many people present, especially the Lady of Pingyan, he broke out in a cold sweat.
Without wasting any words, Wang asked directly what happened in the private room.
The shopkeeper glanced at Madam Liu, then at Madam Min Qiao, who remained as composed as a mountain in the private room, and for a moment he didn't know how to answer.
Seeing this, Madam Wang immediately rebuked her sternly, "Tell me the truth! Why are you stammering? Do you intend to lie to my face?"
