After dinner
Everyone returned to the room.
When the little girl came out of her bath, she saw someone sitting on her big bed.
There was a moment
The little girl even felt like she had returned to her childhood, when Aunt Pei was always with her.
"Have you finished washing?" Pei Shiyi turned around gently, holding the photo frame in her hand.
She nodded and walked over, "Aunt Pei, why don't you go and rest?"
"I want to talk to you, but I'm afraid..."
I’m afraid that next time, there won’t be another chance to get along like this!
The little girl turned her face away like a child who had done something wrong and whispered, "I...I won't do this again next time. Aunt Pei, just treat me...treat me as being unreasonable this time!"
"But Qingqing..." She suddenly tightened her grip on the photo frame. "If I don't figure out why, and you do this again next time, it will be like tearing Aunt Pei's heart out!"
"I'm sorry, Aunt Pei..." The little girl stood by the bed, wanting to explain but not knowing how to do so. She looked extremely helpless.
Her eyes were red as she unfolded the photo frame in her hand and said, "I remember that when you were little, you didn't like taking pictures because you felt that no one could spare the time to go out with you."
"This is the only photo of you and me, and we took it on Sunday—"
"It was very hot that day, and we waited for a long time. You also ate ice cream and stained your skirt, so your face was stern in the photos..."
"Aunt Pei..." The little girl's heart trembled slightly when she heard it, and a sour feeling surged in her heart, and her voice became a little hoarse.
She stood up, took the little girl's hand, and said in a trembling voice, "Did you really hear something?"
"No, no, it's not like that..." The little girl cried and shook her head, her little shoulders trembling.
"Then tell me why? If you keep going like this, Aunt Pei will go crazy!"
"Because of Pei Yuxin!" the little girl blurted out anxiously.
After the words fell
The whole room was silent.
The little girl's lips moved slightly, "I..."
"What did you say? Pei Yuxin?" She lowered her head in surprise and looked at her. "You know Yuxin?"
"Yu...Yuxin? Aunt Pei really knows her, right?" The little girl's face suddenly turned slightly cold. Even though she was tearful, the sudden change in her aura was clearly visible.
Pei Shiyi was stunned, her eyes trembling slightly as she said, "Yes, I know her. So why did Qingqing do that to her?"
The little girl sneered, "I hate her!"
"Hate, hate? Hate Yu Xin?"
"Yes! I just hate her!" The little girl yelled like an angry child, her brown eyes red. "Her family, her father, the mayor of Y City, framed Aunt Pei of the Tan family at that party. Don't you know?"
She stiffened and whispered, "I know, but they didn't do anything afterwards, did they?"
"Aunt Pei is speaking for them? So Aunt Pei is from the Pei family, right?!"
"Yes!" she said without denying it.
The little girl's pupils shrank slightly, and she looked up at her with a little surprise.
"I am indeed from the Pei family! The Mayor Pei you mentioned, Pei Yan, is my brother!"
"……What?"
She shook her head ridiculously, "But I'm just the Pei family's adopted daughter. I don't have a single drop of Pei's blood!"
"How could this be?" The little girl clenched her hands involuntarily, with a hint of confusion and astonishment in her eyes.
"Hasn't Qingqing always wanted to know why I'm still unmarried?"
"No——" The little girl suddenly shook her head in fear. She was scared, she was really scared.
She seemed to have triggered some mechanism, and the past events of her adulthood seemed to be unfolding before her.
"Qingqing, you should know this. I don't want to hide anything from you!"
"Aunt Pei..." She raised her little face with red eyes, her eyes full of guilt and self-blame, sweeping over her for a moment.
Pei Shiyi raised the corners of her lips gently, reached out and gently brushed her hair, and slowly explained: "Originally, I was just adopted as the Pei family's adopted daughter because the Pei family's parents loved their daughters -"
"But the two elders of the Pei family have never acknowledged my identity. They think I—"
"Don't have any selfish motives!"
"Aunt Pei..." The little girl shook her head tremblingly. She didn't want to listen anymore. She was scared. She seemed to be able to guess what kind of story was going to happen next.
"Qingqing..." She smiled gently with red eyes, "I hope you can listen to it and then resolve the misunderstanding between us, okay?"
The little girl hugged him crying, sobbing hoarsely.
She patted her back gently and continued, "So later, my adoptive parents moved away from the Pei family and took me and my brother, who was five years older than me, to live in Country E."
"The customs and practices there are very different from ours."
"I also went to a top high school and a prestigious university in Country E with excellent grades, and then passed the postgraduate entrance exam to study for a doctorate. After graduation, I also stayed in Country E to further my studies and work—"
"Later, I also met someone from Country G who was also studying for a PhD in Country E!"
The little girl's figure suddenly froze. She vaguely guessed something and a huge wave of shock passed through her heart.
She raised the corners of her lips, her eyes reddened as she trembled, "Qingqing, do you know how similar we are?"
"He is actually also an adopted son of a big family!"
boom--
The little girl was shocked and her body was so stiff that she couldn't move at all.
"But he is different from me in that—"
"He is loved by the older generation of his family and has high hopes for him!"
