Chapter 145 You Run, I Chase

"I will bury your body alongside Shu Yao's." Qi closed his eyes briefly, coldly stating the purpose of his visit.

Huo Jingsha remained silent, listening with a faint smile as others discussed what happened after their deaths, as if... it had nothing to do with him.

"Xiao Bao, I can raise him for you and treat him like my own son. What else do you have to say?" Qi asked, his cold voice filled with cruelty and ruthlessness. He had absolute respect for Huo Jingsha, and if it weren't for Shu Yao, he would never have dared to provoke such a person. But now that he had provoked him, he would never regret it, nor would he back down. Unless Huo Jingsha killed him first, he would not give up!

Ignoring his rambling, Huo Jingsha filled her glass and downed it in one gulp. It was as if nothing in the world was more important than getting herself drunk.

Qi was not angry at his indifference. "I will bury you and Shu Yao together." Once again, he repeated the words that broke his heart, because he had no desire to kill Huo Jingsha at the moment, but he had to keep his promise to Shu Yao.

Huo Jingsha shook the empty pot as if nothing had happened, smiled nonchalantly, and called out, "Waiter, fill the pot with wine again." After the waiter took the empty pot away, his gaze fell on Qi's face for the first time. His once stern and resolute face was now haggard, and he had long lost the spirited demeanor that a commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard should have.

"Yao'er won't be grateful to you." He murmured softly, for no one understood Shu Yao's kindness better than him.

A hint of sadness flashed in Qi Yin's cold phoenix eyes. "I don't want Shu Yao to be lonely." Just like him, so even if Shu Yao blamed him, he would still make Huo Jingsha accompany her, even though doing so would cause him excruciating heartache.

"I can't die yet." Huo Jingsha's eyes revealed a hint of helplessness, unsure whether she should tell him the secret of Shu Yao's resurrection.

"When do you want to die? After you've found someone new? I'm afraid you won't want to die then, will you?" Qi lowered his eyes, his tone full of sarcasm. He just didn't want Huo Jingsha to have an easy time.

Huo Jingsha chuckled and said firmly, "I only have You Shuyao as my wife in this life." Then, after a moment of contemplation, his expression returned to a deathly stillness. "If you want me dead... don't rush. You don't need to lift a finger. I feel it should be soon."

"What do you mean?" Qi saw an indescribable bitterness creep into Huo Jingsha's brows, her previous arrogance vanished without a trace. Just as he was still wondering, a delicate cry suddenly rang out...

"Oh dear, Brother Qi... you heartless bastard, why didn't you wait for me before leaving?" Si Qiao's sweet and cloying voice suddenly came from outside the door, breaking the oppressive atmosphere between the two.

Qi's expression changed upon hearing this, but it was too late to avoid it. Si Qiao arrived gracefully like a butterfly, and in a flash, she sat in his lap.

He hadn't expected this woman's tracking skills to become so advanced. In just a few days, she had discovered his whereabouts, and his expression grew increasingly gloomy and unpleasant. Would he really have to be inseparable from her after a while?

"Is this fun? One day, I will make you disappear from my world completely."

When his patience reached its limit, so did his restraint. He didn't know if he would impulsively kill her and then commit suicide to put an end to all the grudges and grievances.

"I'm not afraid of death, but... rather than getting my hands stained with blood, why not use another method to thoroughly ravage people?" Si Qiao wasn't afraid at all; instead, she laughed lewdly. "If that's the case, I'd be happy to die a few times over."

As she spoke, she hooked her arm around Qi's neck and kissed his lips passionately, completely ignoring the several pairs of eyes watching them. Her kiss was ardent and bold, giving the man she was holding no chance to escape.

The mask of indifference that Qi Ben had built up crumbled under her enthusiasm, and his breathing gradually became heavy.

During the time Si Qiao followed him, similar scenes played out repeatedly, and the two seemed to have become accustomed to this chase-and-run lifestyle. The difference was that Si Qiao became increasingly charming and seductive, while Qi's self-control became increasingly weak, as if her easy flirting could make him succumb.

Si Qiao's delicate hand slipped inside Qi's clothes, gently kneading and teasing him while her tongue entwined with his, determined to arouse his desire. Qi, on the other hand, struggled to control his almost uncontrollable willpower, refusing to be enslaved by her. The two were immersed in their own world, neither noticing Huo Jingsha's departure.

The diners at the next table and the waiter were completely stunned, staring in disbelief at the sizzling scene before them, as if their eyes were about to pop out.

Qi let out a muffled groan, finally succumbing to his weakness. He ripped off the seven-colored brocade sash from Si Qiao's waist, his large hand irresistibly reaching inside the thin gauze to caress her delicate, smooth skin, turning the tables from passive to active. In truth, the outcome was always quite different, but he simply refused to accept his fate.

Gasps rose and fell around him. Without a second thought, Qi Lian ripped open his cloak and wrapped it tightly around Si Qiao's half-naked body. He tilted his head slightly, his phoenix eyes peering through his long, drooping hair, and cast a chilling glance at the group of people at the next table who were oblivious to the impending doom, still watching the spectacle with wide eyes. He spat out a single word with viciousness: "Get lost!"

Si Qiaorou nestled into his arms with a smile, her pretty face flushed as she watched the people who were scrambling out of the shop in fright. The waiter even remembered to close the shop door behind him. She couldn't help but chuckle and whispered in his ear, "Look at you... how scared you made them! If they weren't so brave to stay by your side, who else would want to keep you company!"

Qi Muran said, "I don't need anyone to accompany me, especially not you."

Although he said this, his exquisite eyes shone with a burning light as he stared intently at Si Qiao's beautiful smiling face. He swept the cups and bowls off the table and carried Si Qiao to the table.

Si Qiao hooked her arm around his neck and slowly lay down, her gaze filled with an unprecedented seriousness. "You really don't want me to keep you company? Aren't you afraid of being lonely, Brother Qi? Hmm... slow down..."

"Hmph! Loneliness?" Qi sneered, yanking back the apricot-yellow veil and covering her snow-white body. "You have no idea what loneliness is..."

In his mind, Si Qiao was a woman who attracted many suitors and was always surrounded by men. How could such a woman be lonely? And what did she even know about loneliness?

“I understand, Brother Qi… I know loneliness best!” Si Qiao murmured softly, arching her back to hug Qi’s back. Her long, thick, curly hair swayed gently with his movements, but a faint loneliness floated on her small face hidden in Qi’s shadow.

He never truly understood her, nor did he bother to try.
