Chapter 54 Seeing Him After He Was Captured

Huo Jingsha... Huo Jingsha... You absolutely cannot die! Don't people say that good people don't live long, but evil people live forever? A man like you who has done bad things for several lifetimes shouldn't die by a single, insignificant sword, right?

You Shuyao was locked back in the room, but she had forgotten how she was dragged back. The fierce battle during the day was still deeply etched in her mind. When she thought of Huo Jingsha being dragged away and the long trail of blood on the ground, her heart ached beyond measure, as if a layer of her flesh had been ripped off.

The ambush and battle ended with Huo Jingsha's capture. She could only watch helplessly as Qi held a knife to his seriously injured neck, thus hindering the Imperial Guards from pursuing him and allowing all the assassins to escape unscathed.

She didn't know if Huo Jingsha was still alive, or how much longer he could live. Falling into the hands of those assassins was like being trapped in a dragon's den or a tiger's lair. She couldn't imagine it; given his severe injuries, it seemed like he was doomed!

He was always brave and skilled in battle, with a deep and shrewd mind, and his wisdom and courage were extraordinary. Now, however, he was captured alive for saving her. He was always the one scheming against others, so how could he be schemed against by others now? You Shuyao intertwined her fingers, her heart filled with turmoil.

Didn't he say before that he had laid a trap, just waiting for the assassins to slip up, so that he could wipe them out and eliminate the threat forever? How could he have fallen into someone else's trap?

She knew... that she was the one who dragged him down, causing him to fall to this state. It was all because of saving her; otherwise, even the entire organization's assassins wouldn't be a match for him.

"Huo Jingsha, from now on... we owe each other nothing!" A relieved yet sorrowful smile appeared on her face, but her heart was bleeding, and tears blurred her vision again. At this moment, the door was opened from the outside, and someone walked in, but she didn't even want to look at them, because she didn't care who was standing in front of her.

Now, her previous indomitable will had vanished, and even her will to live had been exhausted. She didn't care who came; she could be killed or tortured at will. She was doomed anyway, and she'd experienced all sorts of deaths, so one more wouldn't make a difference. If she could be reborn, she and Huo Jingsha would be even; if she couldn't be reborn, then death would be the end of it all.

Qi walked up to her and saw her face ashen, with only tears silently streaming down her face. Her desperate and heartbroken appearance made his expression even colder.

"Don't tell me you're heartbroken over Huo Jingsha!"

Qi's voice remained cold and indifferent, just like the man himself, taking everything lightly. But only he knew that the jealousy burning in his heart was almost overwhelming him.

Shu Yao slowly raised her eyes when she heard that person's name. Her watery eyes were filled with sorrowful tears, as if she was so sad that she could no longer cry.

"Is he... is he dead?"

When she asked this question, a tiny spark of hope still lingered in her eyes, but even this sliver of expectation was unbearable for him, and he only wanted to destroy it ruthlessly.

Yes, he's dead!

Even though she had anticipated this outcome, the affirmative answer still caused her pupils to shrink abruptly, turning completely lifeless. She closed her eyes painfully, as if someone were stabbing her heart repeatedly with sharp, cruel blows.

Suddenly, an assassin burst in to report. "Qi, that guy surnamed Huo is very stubborn and still refuses to confess. What should we do next?"

Qi glared fiercely at the talkative assassin at the door, blaming him for revealing his secrets so quickly, his face contorted with malice.

Although the assassin didn't immediately realize what he had done wrong, he froze instantly when he received the fierce glare from the assassin's eyes. He knew that he might have said something wrong by barging in, so he immediately fell silent.

Qi turned to look at You Shuyao and saw that her originally desperate face suddenly blossomed with a brilliant light. Even her dark eyes, which were full of tears, turned into tears of joy, and her whole person came alive.

The reason she went from "life" to "death" so quickly and with such a drastic difference was all because of that man—Huo Jingsha.

"go out!"

At Qi's shout, the frozen assassin, like a frightened bird, turned and left the house in two steps.

As soon as You Shuyao met Qi's angry gaze, she immediately suppressed her joyful expression, lowered her eyes, and avoided his sinister and chilling stare.

Knowing that Huo Jingsha was still alive, she became so smug that she forgot her own position. After all, Huo Jingsha was their enemy, and she shouldn't have shown such joy, because it would only anger Qi, and both she and Huo Jingsha, now in their hands, would suffer the consequences.

Qi slowly clenched his fists behind his back. He really wanted to kill Huo Jingsha, but he had just received a secret order from the organization to capture Huo Jingsha alive instead.

He knew this was Prince Jing's order. If it weren't for this command, he would have already pierced Huo Jingsha's heart with a sword. This foolish woman, does she even realize that if he hadn't suppressed everything, her disobedience and falling in love with the person she was supposed to assassinate would have already resulted in her being punished by the leader?

It seems the only solution now is to force her to give up through some means.

Having made up his mind, he suddenly stepped forward and pulled You Shuyao up.

You Shuyao bumped into his chest without warning and quickly stepped back, but her hand was still firmly held in his palm. She tried to struggle, but he seemed determined and refused to let go of her.

"Let's go!" He said without giving her a chance to protest, insisting on taking her out of the house.

Shu Yao staggered, a bad premonition rising within her. Trembling, she asked, "Where to?"

He didn't answer, but continued to forcefully pull her out of the house, walking briskly along the corridor until they reached the end. There, two men stood guard, and upon seeing Qi, they opened the door.

"Keep an eye on this, don't let anyone in."

"yes."

Qi pulled her into the house, and suddenly from a bright place into darkness, You Shuyao felt her eyesight fail her for a moment, and she couldn't see anything clearly. But gradually, after she adjusted to the environment inside the house, she saw that there was no one there. She couldn't help but look at Qi in confusion, wondering why he had brought her here.

But soon, she had an answer. Qi walked to the wall, pulled on the hanging iron ring, and then the seemingly ordinary wall cracked with a "crack". He gently pushed along the crack, and the wall actually moved. It turned out that the wall was a hidden door, and inside the door was a large secret room.

Shu Yao's heart pounded, guessing who might be imprisoned inside. In a moment of distraction, Qi grabbed her wrist and led her into the secret room. Four torches burned on the wall, illuminating the figure of a person. The moment her gaze fell upon that person, her pupils suddenly narrowed, and her whole body began to tremble.

Huo Jingsha was locked inside, his arms and legs suspended in mid-air by iron chains, his hair disheveled, his head drooping limply, and in addition to the knife wound on his chest, he was covered with various bloodstains, indicating that he must have suffered a lot of torture.
