Chapter 28 Choking

On this side, after Ji Yanli went upstairs, he said he was going back to his room to rest, but in fact he went to the attic on the top floor.

He walked to Li Shu's door and stopped, then raised his hand and knocked twice. After waiting for about two or three seconds, the door was opened.

"Brother, why are you back?" Li Shu's delicate eyebrows raised frivolously, a little surprised, "Aren't you recording a show?"

Ji Yanli's eyes flickered slightly, and his left hand in his pocket subconsciously tightened the phone inside. A faint smile appeared on his face, and he explained in a gentle voice: "There was a problem with the program crew, so we won't be recording for the time being. It just so happens that it's on the way home, so I came back to take a look. We'll leave tomorrow morning."

Li Shu folded her arms and leaned lazily against the door frame. Her voice was clear and cold without a trace of impurities. "Second brother, just ask whatever you want to ask. There's no need to hold it in."

Ji Yanli was slightly stunned for a moment, then came to his senses and asked in surprise, "Xiao Shu, how did you tell that?"

You have to know that he has always disguised himself very well, and it is almost difficult for others to know what he is thinking or to see other unusual emotions from his face.

Li Shu tilted her head, her black and white eyes looking quite pure and beautiful, and she said nonchalantly, "Well, I guessed."

Ji Yanli chuckled softly. Since Li Shu had said so, there was no need for him to talk about other things. He asked directly, "Xiao Shu, did you know what would happen during my recording today, so you reminded me to carry the amulet you gave me with me?"

Li Shu nodded slightly, without further explanation, and just said, "That's about right."

"I originally thought the amulet you gave me was just a random imitation of those online drawings, but I didn't expect it to be a real amulet. But how could you know this? After all, you didn't grow up in..."

He didn't finish the rest of his words, paused, and continued: "It's okay, it doesn't matter if you don't want to tell me, after all, everyone has a secret."

Li Shu seemed to have anticipated that Ji Yanli would ask her these questions. Her fair and pretty face showed a serious expression as she calmly and nonsensically said, "It's not a secret that cannot be told to anyone. It's just that no one would believe it if I told anyone else."

"Actually, I learned to draw talismans and other things in my dreams. When I was about ten years old, I suddenly had a dream one night. In my dream, an old man with gray hair and wearing a Taoist robe appeared. He said he had been looking for a disciple to inherit his mantle. He found that my bones were amazing and I was very suitable to practice Taoism with him. So from then on, he would come to my dreams every night to teach me."

After hearing this, Ji Yanli's mouth twitched slightly. He didn't completely believe what Li Shu said. After all, it did seem a bit nonsense. But he didn't expose her. He nodded seriously and said, "So that's how it is. Then our Xiaoshu must be very powerful."

Li Shu coughed dryly, admitting to feeling guilty. She touched the tip of her nose and changed the subject, "By the way, second brother, I'll give you a few more amulets. They can protect you from all kinds of external attacks."

Ji Yanli curled the corners of his lips in a good mood, raised his hand and rubbed the top of her hair, "Okay, then Second Brother will thank our Xiaoshu."

Li Shu ignored her messed-up hair and returned to her room. She walked to the table and randomly pulled out a few amulets. She then walked back to the door and said, "Here."

Ji Yanli took it and looked at the bright red cinnabar on the yellow talisman paper. Suddenly, something occurred to him. He looked up at the girl in front of him and asked, "Xiaoshu, why did the cinnabar on the amulet you gave me fade?"

"No matter if it's a peace talisman or a protective amulet, every time it works, the color of the cinnabar will fade a little, until it disappears completely and the talisman loses its function." Li Shu explained concisely.

Ji Yanli's eyelashes slightly drooped as he looked down at the amulet in his hand, somewhat incredulously, "So that's how it is."

Li Shu hummed, "Second brother, do you have anything else to do? If not, I'll go into the house and take a nap."

Ji Yanli nodded, his gentle voice tinged with a smile, "Okay, go to bed. It's just right that my second brother should go back to his room to rest for a while."

He paused for a moment and then said, "Xiao Shu, are you free tonight? Second brother will take you out for dinner."

Li Shu thought about how she had been reborn in this body for several days and hadn't been out much. After thinking for a few seconds, she said leisurely, "No, it's okay."

Ji Yanli put the talisman paper away and said, "It's settled then. I'll call you later."

Li Shu looked at his handsome face and suddenly thought of something. She asked, "Second brother, aren't you a celebrity? Won't we be secretly photographed if we go out like this?"

Ji Yanli raised his eyebrows. "You are my sister, not someone else. What's the big deal? Besides, the place we are going to is very secretive. Not only can paparazzi not get in, they can't even swat a fly."

Li Shu nodded obediently, "That's it."

Time soon came to six o'clock in the afternoon.

After Ji Yanli called Li Shu, the two went downstairs together.

In the living room, Ye Lan looked at the brother and sister walking side by side, talking and laughing. She was slightly stunned, and a trace of surprise flashed in her eyes. When did the second brother become so close to Li Shu?

Even with Qianya before, it wouldn't be like this.

Ji Yanli happened to notice her and greeted her, "Mom."

Ye Lan came back to her senses, "Yan Li, wake up! I heard Qianya say you're back. Why didn't you tell me in advance?"

"I made the decision suddenly and didn't have time to tell you." Ji Yanli replied.

Ye Lan nodded and said lovingly, "Come sit here for a while. Your father hasn't come back yet. I've already sent instructions to the kitchen. They're all your favorite dishes."

Ji Yanli put his hands in his pockets and said, "No, Xiaoshu and I are going out to eat."

Ye Lan subconsciously frowned, "Why are you going out to eat when you come back this time? And since you brought Xiaoshu with you, why don't you call Qianya as well?"

The smile on Ji Yanli's face faded a little, and if you look closely, there is still a slight cold light in his eyes. "Mom, this is my business. I can take whoever I want. As for dinner, you guys should eat by yourselves."

He paused for a moment and continued, "Besides, Xiaoshu is my biological sister, I can still tell the difference."

After Ji Yanli finished speaking, he put his arm around Li Shu's shoulders and took her out of the living room without waiting for Ye Lan to speak.

Ye Lan's face looked a little ugly, and her brows were full of disbelief. She never thought that her second son, who was always gentle and polite, would actually argue with her one day.

What did his last sentence mean? Was he saying that she was confused?

Looking at the intimate backs of the brother and sister as they left, Ye Lan couldn't understand why these two people suddenly became so close.

You have to know that Ji Yanli didn't even treat Ji Qianya, whom he had watched grow up, like this, let alone such an intimate action as taking the initiative to hold her in his arms.

Moreover, he only came back twice in total, and I didn't see him have much contact with Li Shu. It was really strange.
