Half an hour later, the car slowly stopped at the foot of Baiyun Temple.
Li Shu opened her eyes as if she had sensed something.
She unbuckled her seat belt, turned her head to greet Qin Can in the driver's seat, opened the car door and got out neatly.
Li Shu didn't waste any time and used the teleportation talisman to quickly reach the top of the mountain.
She walked to the main entrance of Baiyun Temple and stopped. She just took out her cell phone from her pocket and was about to send a message to Wenxuan to let him know that she had arrived, but her phone vibrated first.
Seeing this, Li Shu unlocked the screen and opened WeChat. It was a message from Wenxuan.
[Sister Li, where are you now? ]
Li Shu raised her eyelids and glanced at the plaque above the main gate with the words "Baiyun Temple" written on it. She tapped her phone screen with her fingers and replied: [At the entrance of your Taoist temple. I was just about to send you a message.]
Wenxuan: [Oh, you're here so soon. Sorry, Sister Li, my uncle had to leave suddenly due to an emergency, so I told you to meet him next time.]
Li Shu frowned. Could it be that Jingchen discovered something and was deliberately avoiding her?
Or is it just a coincidence?
Seeing that Li Shu didn't reply, Wenxuan sent another message.
[Sister Li, I'll come pick you up. Now that you're here, come and play for a while. Master is here.]
Li Shu collected her thoughts and was about to say no, as she had things to do and leave first, but suddenly she remembered something and typed a reply: [Okay, I want to meet Taoist Xukong.]
Wenxuan: [I'm here, Sister Li, wait for me for a minute!]
Li Shu replied with an "OK", then turned off the screen of her phone and put it back in her pocket.
Sure enough, in less than a minute, Wenxuan's figure appeared in sight.
He waved his hand and said loudly, "Sister Li!"
Upon hearing this, Li Shu immediately walked over.
Wenxuan touched the back of his head and said apologetically, "Sister Li, I'm so sorry for making you come here for nothing. I apologize to you again on behalf of my uncle."
He paused, curled his lips, and complained to himself, "Master uncle is really something. He always leaves suddenly for something. Sometimes he doesn't come back to the Taoist temple for several days."
Li Shu's eyes flickered slightly, and she walked side by side with him into the Taoist temple. "Then didn't you ask him what he was doing?"
"I asked, but my uncle wouldn't tell me, saying it's best not to ask about adult matters." Wenxuan said helplessly, "But Sister Li, I'm not a child anymore. I'm going to be an adult soon."
"Hasn't Taoist Master Xukong asked that either?" Li Shu asked again.
"Master never asks about my uncle's affairs." Wenxuan said.
"Okay." Li Shu said.
…
Soon, the two arrived at the courtyard where Xukong was.
"Master, Sister Li is here." Wenxuan walked into the room first and spoke to Xukong who was reading a book at the table under the window.
Upon hearing this, Xukong put down the book in his hand, stood up from his chair, and said kindly, "Miss Li."
Li Shu nodded, "Master Xukong."
Xukong took her to the other side of the table and stopped, "Ms. Li, please take a seat."
Li Shu nodded and sat down on the stool.
Seeing this, Wenxuan immediately picked up the tea set on the table and poured a cup of tea for each of them.
Li Shu took the teacup handed to her by Wenxuan, skimmed off the foam, lowered her head and took a sip. Then she looked up at Xukong who was sitting opposite her and said slowly, "Master Xukong, I have something I want to tell you."
Xukong glanced at Wenxuan who was standing beside him and said, "Wenxuan, please leave first. Remember to close the door."
Wenxuan was actually quite curious about what Li Shu was going to ask, but after hearing what Xukong said, he nodded and replied, "Okay, Master."
After Wenxuan arrived and left, Xukong then spoke to Li Shu, "Miss Li, may I ask?"
Li Shu hummed and put down the teacup in her hand, "I want to tell you about Taoist Jingchen."
Xukong's eyes flashed with surprise when he heard this, "Jingchen?"
"I stumbled upon something related to Taoist Master Jingchen. Besides practicing Taoism, he's also an evil cultivator, relying on absorbing the faith of his followers to increase his own power," Li Shu said. "But his followers aren't normal. He uses evil magic to help them realize their wishes."
Xukong's brows were filled with shock and astonishment. "Ms. Li, do you have evidence for what you said?"
"Yes." Li Shu fished out her phone from her pocket, opened the photo album, and found the photo of the statue she had taken. She then handed it to Xukong. "He founded his own church somewhere in G City. This statue was found in that church. His face is somewhat similar to Taoist Master Jingchen. Those believers call him God."
Xukong's gaze fell on the photo on the phone screen, and his eyes froze.
But he didn't quite believe Jingchen would do such a thing. After all, the two of them were brothers in the same sect, practicing Taoism together since childhood. He knew Jingchen's character very well. "Miss Li, this statue is only slightly similar. Could it be a coincidence?"
"Master Xukong, take a look at this," Li Shu said, pulling out the sound transmission note that had fallen from the statue from her pocket and handing it to him. "This fell from the statue, and that's how the believers communicated with the statue."
Xukong reached out to take it, his pupils suddenly contracted, and he could tell at a glance that it was painted by Jingchen, "This..."
"Actually, I came here today to find Taoist Master Jingchen, but after I came up, Wenxuan told me that Taoist Master Jingchen suddenly had something to do and left the Taoist temple again, so I found Taoist Master Xukong and told you about this." Li Shu said.
"Miss Li, let me investigate this matter further." Xukong clenched the sound transmission talisman in his hand, his face solemn. "If it is true, I will definitely clean up the mess."
Li Shu nodded and stood up from the chair, "Then I won't bother you for now, Taoist Xukong."
Xukong also stood up and said, "I'll take you out, Miss Li."
"Master Xukong, please stay. I can go out by myself." Li Shu said.
Xukong was concerned about Jingchen's affairs, so he didn't insist. "Okay, take care, Miss Li."
Li Shu nodded, greeted him, opened the door and walked out.
As soon as she stepped out of the door, she saw Wenxuan sitting on the railing in the corridor outside, "You didn't leave?"
Wenxuan immediately stood up and asked, "Sister Li, have you finished talking to Master?"
"Yes, I'm going down the mountain now." Li Shu said.
"Sister Li, I'll take you to the entrance of the Taoist temple." Wenxuan said.
Li Shu knew Wenxuan's personality and didn't refuse him, "Okay."
Wenxuan chuckled and walked side by side with her towards the entrance of the Taoist temple.
"Wenxuan, what kind of person is Taoist Jingchen in your eyes?" Li Shu suddenly asked.
Wenxuan was slightly stunned when he heard this, then came to his senses and asked curiously, "Sister Li, why are you asking me this all of a sudden?"
