Chapter 72: Sending the Bride

In the blink of an eye, it was 12 o'clock in the morning.

Zhang Zhe glanced at the wall clock, then looked at the closed door not far away. He subconsciously clenched the amulet in his hand and asked in a low voice, "Master Li, is she here?"

Just as he finished speaking, he suddenly heard the sounds of gongs and drums, and wind and musical instruments, just like the weddings in ancient times.

Especially the high-pitched suona sound made me feel creepy and gave me goosebumps.

"Damn, is this the legendary Chinese horror?" Qin Can couldn't help but get nervous when he heard the noise outside the door.

Two minutes later, the music stopped abruptly, and the next second, there was a knock on the door.

“Bang, bang, bang!”

It rang four times in succession.

Then came a woman's cold voice, "Zhelang, open the door quickly, I'm here to pick you up!"

Zhang Zhe shuddered with fear when he heard this, and subconsciously covered his mouth, not daring to make a sound. Then he looked at the girl standing beside him for help.

Li Shu gave him a calming look in return. Her delicate and fair face showed no emotion and seemed quite calm.

She slowly took out a paper figure from her pocket, recited some incantations, then bent down and placed the paper figure on the ground.

The paper man, which was originally the size of a palm, suddenly grew to half the height of a person. The paper man's originally stiff and weird face also became lively. If you look closely, it looks about 70% similar to Zhang Zhe.

Qin Can couldn't help but widen his eyes when he saw this, rubbed his eyes, and suspected that he had seen it wrong. Just when he was about to ask Li Shu what was going on, he saw the paper man suddenly move and walked towards the door step by step.

Li Shu then took out a talisman from her pocket, and a golden light flashed. With the position where the three people were standing as the center of the circle, a transparent and fully enclosed circular barrier rose up.

As if knowing that the two would be curious and unable to resist asking, he took the initiative to explain: "This barrier will conceal our presence, so that when we open the door later, they won't notice us. From now on, just watch quietly."

"They?" Zhang Zhe was smart this time and immediately grasped the key.

Li Shu glanced at him lazily and said slowly, "A ghost wedding naturally involves more than just the bride. There are also sedan chair bearers, musicians, and so on. If there are many, there can be more than a dozen."

Zhang Zhe swallowed hard, "Master Li, are you saying there are more than a dozen ghosts standing at the door now?!"

Li Shu hummed, her eyes falling on the paper figures that had already reached the door, "Not that many."

At this time, the paper man who looked like Zhang Zhe raised his hand and placed it on the door handle, then opened the door.

A gust of cold wind suddenly blew, blowing the curtains in the room. Fortunately, Li Shu and the other two were behind the barrier and were not affected at all.

Looking up towards the door, what caught my eye was a woman in a bright red wedding dress standing upright at the door.

The woman folded her hands in front of her abdomen, her nails were thin, long, and bright red.

There was a red veil covering her head, so her appearance could not be seen.

There was also a dowry maid accompanying her, but her face was as pale as if she had fallen into flour, and she was carrying a basket full of paper money in her hand.

Behind him was a large red sedan chair, with four bearers standing at the four corners with their heads bowed. On both sides stood a few indistinct ghosts beating drums and gongs.

The ghost bride finally made a move this time. She raised her hand and slowly lifted the veil, revealing her equally pale face. Her eyes, with only the whites of the eyes, fell strangely on the paper man in front of her. It was obvious that she had completely mistaken the paper man for Zhang Zhe.

She curled her red lips, took the paper mannequin's hand, and a happy smile appeared on her stiff face.

"Tetsuro, let's go home!"

The ghost bride turned around and got into the red sedan chair with the paper doll. The sedan bearers and the musicians raised their heads at the same moment and their bodies began to move.

The music started again, and the maid grabbed the paper money in the basket and scattered it everywhere. After a while, the entire wedding procession disappeared in the corridor outside the door.

Seeing this, Li Shu raised her hand and waved gently, removing the barrier in front of her. She said calmly, "That's enough, they're gone."

Zhang Zhe hadn't dared to utter a single word the entire time. Upon hearing this, he suddenly relaxed his shoulders and let out a long sigh. "Fuck, this is so fucking scary. Master Li, is this over?"

"Yeah, will this female ghost find out that the paper man is not Zhang Zhe, and then come back to kill him again?" Qin Can said.

Zhang Zhe became nervous when he heard him say that, his heart was lifted up again, "Ah? No way..."

Li Shu raised her eyebrows. "No, didn't you notice that the wedding invitation on the table has changed?"

Upon hearing this, the two turned their heads to look at the coffee table behind them, only to see that the place where the wedding invitations were originally placed had been replaced by round paper money.

Li Shu stepped forward and picked up the paper money on the coffee table. Then she turned her head to look at the two people behind her and asked, "Do you have a lighter?"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Zhang Zhe nodded, took out a metal lighter from his pocket and handed it to Li Shu, "Here, Master Li."

Li Shu hummed, reached out to take it, made a handsome circle in her hand, opened the lid, and with a "click", a blue-purple flame jumped up, and she moved the paper money in her other hand over.

The paper money was lit and turned into black ashes that scattered on the ground in an instant.

Li Shu handed the lighter back to Zhang Zhe and said slowly, "You can transfer the remaining balance to my bank card now."

"Okay, Master Li." Zhang Zhe took the lighter and put it in his pocket, then took out his mobile phone, unlocked the screen, and directly transferred the remaining 10 million to Li Shu.

Li Shu yawned, her expression becoming somewhat lazy, and she raised her chin slightly. "Then we'll leave first, and you should get some rest early."

Zhang Zhe scratched his hair and hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "Master Li, why don't you and Brother Can stay at my house for one night? Although everything is fine now, I'm terrified when I think about what I just saw. I feel like I'll be that ghost if I close my eyes. If you stay in the guest room next door, I'll feel more at ease."

Qin Can said: "I don't have any problem, it depends on Master Li."

Li Shu thought about it after hearing this. If she climbed through the window to enter the dormitory in the middle of the night, she might wake up her roommates. Or maybe someone happened to be groping in the dark to go to the bathroom and saw a dark figure climbing through the window. They would probably be scared to death. So she said, "Okay."

"I'll ask someone to clean up two guest rooms." Zhang Zhe's face lit up with joy, as if he was afraid that Li Shu would suddenly change her mind again, and he hurried out the door.

But suddenly he realized something, and the foot that had just stepped out of the door was retracted. He coughed dryly, turned his head to look at Qin Can in the room, and said a little embarrassedly: "Um, Brother Can, can you accompany me? I'm scared now."
