Behind the crowd.
The Fourth Princess and Luo Twelve walked out with puzzled expressions.
Jiang Xue, who was hiding behind Prince Jing, widened her eyes as if she had seen something unbelievable. Her mouth was agape, and her face was full of shock. She almost blurted out, "What are you doing here?"
The fourth princess paused, puzzled, and asked, "What do you mean? If I'm not here, where should I be?"
"impossible--"
Prince Jing was no less shocked than Jiang Xue. He had personally tricked the person into coming here, so how could he be wrong?
"Second brother, what you're saying is strange. I don't understand at all."
The fourth princess was quite surprised. She walked up to the emperor and curtsied. "Father, please forgive me. I was a bit drunk and had a short rest with Feiyan in the palace before I came. But what happened?"
The Yellow Emperor looked at the King of Beimeng and the woman behind him.
Before he could speak, Prince An rushed over, grabbed the woman's hair, revealing a slightly immature face, and exclaimed in shock, "Seventh Sister—"
"ah--"
With a scream, the Seventh Princess covered her face abruptly. Through her fingers, her gaze was fixed on the Fourth Princess, as if she were facing an irreconcilable enemy.
She was waiting for good news in the palace when she was suddenly knocked unconscious. When she woke up, she was already in the arms of the Northern King Ding. Before she could struggle, she was interrupted by a little palace maid who screamed.
The one who should have been in the arms of the Northern King was the Fourth Princess!
It was her! It must have been her!
The Northern King's gaze fell on the Fourth Princess, and his eyes lit up. So this was the Fourth Princess?
"King of Northern Mongolia, what do you have to say!"
The Yellow Emperor questioned in a cold voice, his tone carrying an undeniable authority.
Just as the Prince of Beimeng was about to say that the Fourth Princess had invited him to meet, he immediately met the Prince of Chen's staring gaze.
Shut up immediately.
We must not break the bet in front of Prince Chen.
With a single glance, the envoy immediately stepped forward and said with an air of smugness, "It was this princess who arranged to meet our king. Upon meeting him, she immediately snuggled into his arms. She must be attracted by our king's majestic appearance and want to become his woman."
“There are plenty of women like that in northern Mongolia.”
“My king came here to marry the princess. She is willing, and I am willing to marry her.”
"No--"
"No—I was framed!"
Upon hearing this, the Seventh Princess became instantly agitated, struggling fiercely, her eyes filled with hatred as she pointed directly at the Fourth Princess, as if she wanted to devour her alive.
"It's her! It's all her! She's the one who delivered the message to the King of Northern Mongolia, and she's also the one who admires him!"
The seventh princess screamed hysterically, her voice sharp and piercing, filled with endless anger and resentment. She seemed to have lost her mind and was screaming recklessly.
"She also has letters and scrolls in her palace proving her affair with the Northern Mongol King! This evidence proves her crimes!"
Everyone present showed expressions of surprise and shock upon hearing the Seventh Princess's words.
The Fourth Princess's fingers trembled, her face filled with astonishment and anger. "Seventh Sister... what nonsense are you spouting? What letters and scrolls? This is the first time I've met the King of Northern Mongol. How could I possibly be in love with him? Besides, I'm already engaged. Why would Seventh Sister want to harm me!"
Upon waking, Consort Mei immediately rushed forward to protect the Fourth Princess, pleading, "Your Majesty and Her Highness, please do justice for the Fourth Princess! The Fourth Princess has always been dignified and proper; she would never do something so humiliating!"
"The Seventh Princess is spouting nonsense and making baseless accusations; is she trying to force the Fourth Princess to her death?!"
Consort Mei, shedding her usual timidity, wept bitterly.
Luo Twelve had long since lost patience and sneered, "Seventh Princess, you can't hide your affair with another man in the artificial hill anymore, so you're trying to shift the blame onto Fourth Sister?"
"My fourth sister and I have not been separated for even a moment today. You are clearly the one crying wolf!"
"If you have taken a fancy to the Prince of Northern Mongolia and want to marry him, just tell His Majesty yourself. Why bother with this pretense!"
"No—that's not how it is!"
The Seventh Princess was no match for the three of them in words.
In a moment of rage, she lost her temper and glared at Prince An, screaming, "Second brother! You have to be my witness! I'll listen to you, I haven't stepped out of the palace all day! Promise me you'll let her go for the marriage alliance! You promised me!"
Prince An's expression changed drastically. In a panic, he slapped the Seventh Princess across the face, yelling, "Have you lost your mind! What nonsense are you spouting!"
The Empress's face darkened as she coldly glanced at the Seventh Princess, her expression threatening.
What an idiot!
The seventh princess was slapped so hard she fell to the ground, completely losing her temper. "Ah—you dare hit me!"
"You're all in cahoots! You're lying to me!"
"All those letters and paintings are lies! You never even sent them to her palace! You never intended for her to go on a marriage alliance, did you! Waaah—"
"You're all bad people! You lied to me! She's the one who should be sent to a political marriage, not me! Father—Mother! Waaah—I don't want to go to a political marriage!"
"I don't want to marry into that barbaric place like Northern Mongolia!"
The seventh princess burst into tears.
If Consort Li were here, she would have protected her beloved child with all her heart and soul.
But Consort Li, or rather, Lady Li, is in the Cold Palace, and no one will protect her.
Upon hearing the Seventh Princess's cries, the King of Beimeng's face darkened, filled with deep anger.
Prince An's mind was buzzing.
Especially the horrified looks from everyone who was looking over.
Jiang Jingtian finally came to his senses and immediately flashed to the Fourth Princess's side, blocking her from the Northern Mongol King, staring intently at Prince An, "What is Your Highness Prince An going to do!"
"Father—I am innocent! This matter has nothing to do with me, I know nothing about it!"
Prince An tried his best to distance himself from the matter.
But he had pressed Jiang Jingtian too hard just now, so if he said it had nothing to do with him now, few people would believe him.
"Today, the Imperial Garden is full of the Second Prince's people, so naturally... the Second Prince has the final say."
Prince Chen suddenly spoke up.
The eldest princess was taken aback, and immediately followed up with a sarcastic remark, "I don't know where I can't stand watching fireworks, but I insisted on coming here. It turns out that my second brother not only wanted us to watch fireworks, but also prepared such a grand show."
The Empress's expression changed, and she spoke up to plead, "Your Majesty..."
Then a roar was heard.
"You were the one who planned tonight's banquet, and now that this has happened, you still dare to complain!"
"I see you are incorrigible and show no remorse!"
The emperor unleashed all his fury on the second prince, roaring furiously, "Guards—issue an imperial decree! The second prince is unfilial and unjust, demoted to a prince of the county! His fief is revoked! He is imprisoned for three months to observe his future conduct!"
The prince, who had barely had a chance to warm up to his new life, was demoted to a duke and then imprisoned.
Prince An's face was filled with terror and despair, as if the whole world was about to collapse. His lips trembled, but he could not utter a single word.
The Empress clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her palms, and swept her gaze over Prince An and the Seventh Princess, a surge of anger and disappointment rising within her.
It's utterly ridiculous that she naively thought two idiots could get things done together!
