Su Peipei went from being cautious at the beginning to now thriving in the Gu family.
However, Liu Cuihua's existence still made her very annoyed and regretful, as it seemed that bringing her to the capital with her was a bad move.
These days, she desperately tries to find a way to get him to leave, but ultimately it comes down to money.
"Mom, I've rented a courtyard house on Xuanwu Street. Why don't you move in there?"
"Why? I'm perfectly happy living here." Liu Cuihua was very unhappy to hear her words, and her tone became unfriendly. She was suspicious. "You're not planning to kick me out after I've served my purpose, are you?"
She wasn't stupid; she could naturally sense that her daughter was becoming increasingly impatient with her.
"No way." Su Peipei knew that it was easy to invite a god but hard to send him away, and her mother was a reckless person. She suppressed her irritation and said patiently, "I must have something important to tell you to come over."
"Really?" Liu Cuihua asked suspiciously. "What important matter?"
Su Peipei leaned closer to Liu Cuihua and said in a low voice, "I plan to reopen the small workshop."
"Are you crazy?" Liu Cuihua exploded instantly. She hadn't forgotten why she had been arrested and sent to the farm for labor reform.
Su Peipei, however, remained calm with her arms crossed. "Mom, don't be so alarmed."
"How could I not..." Liu Cuihua realized something was wrong and stopped talking, then said irritably, "I'm not going, you go by yourself."
As she spoke, she sat down and continued cracking her sunflower seeds.
Su Peipei frowned impatiently and said coolly, "You have to go whether you want to or not."
"Why should I? I'm not going." Liu Cuihua angrily swept the sunflower seed shells on the ground to express her dissatisfaction.
Su Peipei sighed softly and said earnestly, "Mom, we've been here for over half a month now. You've been staying at the Gu family's house every day, and you've had no worries about food or drink. But, as you've seen, the Gu family doesn't seem to have any intention of arranging another room for you. You don't mean to live with me forever and just eat and drink for free, do you?"
Liu Cuihua slowed down her sunflower seed eating, clearly having taken the words to heart.
Su Peipei lowered her voice again, "Mom, you have to understand, although we've moved into the Gu family home, they haven't officially acknowledged my identity yet. Besides, I'm still an imposter, and who knows when I'll be exposed. Your good days aren't secure at all; you might get kicked out any day..."
Su Peipei's words completely woke Liu Cuihua up. Actually, she wasn't unaware of the situation, but she was so comfortable with her current good life that she didn't want to think and just wanted to get by.
However, she was still aware of Su Peipei's abilities.
"What do you plan to do?" Liu Cuihua relented, but still stuck to her principles, "I won't do anything illegal."
She didn't want to be taken away to a labor camp again.
"Don't worry, nothing will happen this time," Su Peipei said confidently. "I haven't been wandering around aimlessly these past few days. Mom, haven't you noticed? There are a lot more mobile stalls on the streets of Kyoto these days. Even your sunflower seeds..."
Su Peipei picked up a piece and popped it into her mouth. "They're openly selling them at the movie theater entrance, and nobody cares. If you don't believe me, you can go out and take a look."
Liu Cuihua pondered for a moment.
"Furthermore, I have received accurate information from the Gu family that the government will fully liberalize the policy by the end of the year at the latest, making it legal to do business..."
"Really?" Liu Cuihua exclaimed excitedly.
"Of course it's true. If you don't believe me, just wait and see."
