Chapter 189, /.

Old Guan couldn't help but look at Old Master Gu, but unfortunately Old Master Gu ignored him. He thought for a moment and then said truthfully, "The master will be back for lunch at 12 noon."

Well, this is a matter of life and death after all. But this little girl is quite brave; she's not afraid of the old man at all.

Hearing the answer she wanted, Su Xiao smiled with satisfaction and thanked him, "Thank you, sir."

She then looked at Old Master Gu and said with a smile, "Then I'll come back at noon. Sorry to bother you, sir."

Old Master Gu didn't even lift his eyelids, and said unhurriedly, "When did our Gu family become a place where any Tom, Dick, or Harry can come and go as they please?"

The old butler's expression turned serious, and he straightened his back ramrod straight. "Sir, it was my dereliction of duty."

Su Xiao felt a surge of displeasure. This old man was really too hateful. Had he taken some kind of poison?

"Do you have many cats and dogs at home?" Su Xiao asked with curiosity and envy. "As the saying goes, a good dog protects three neighbors, and a fine cat guards three houses. Sir, animals are the most intelligent. You are very lucky."

Haha, what did those cats and dogs do to offend you, old man? They're so cute, how dare you complain about them?

Grandpa Gu held his teacup, concealing the twitching at the corner of his lips, and glanced at Su Xiao with great interest.

"Quick-tongued." Putting down his teacup, Old Master Gu sneered, "You keep saying you're looking for my son because it's a matter of life and death, but I don't seem to be in a hurry to see you."

The villain in Su Xiao's heart was already baring his fangs and claws, but her face still smiled brightly, "There's nothing I can do. I was entrusted with this task, and I have to be loyal to it. They asked me to find Comrade Gu Tingjiang."

Changing the subject, her smile held a hint of amusement, and she said, "I'd also like to go find him at his workplace, sir. May I ask where his workplace is?"

“There are priorities. I am his father, and he was born of me. Why can’t I make decisions about his affairs?” Old Master Gu said angrily, puffing out his beard and glaring.

Su Xiao wasn't afraid of her, so she retorted directly, "Isn't that exactly what you just said?"

"Hey, you dare to talk back?" Old Master Gu rolled his eyes, selectively forgetting, "What did I say? Did I say I couldn't make the decision?"

"But you didn't say you could make the decision." Su Xiao was speechless at this old man's antics. One minute he was unfathomable, the next he was being unreasonable. What was he trying to do?

"Little girl, you're so young, and your hearing isn't working properly. You need to get it treated." Old Master Gu stroked his mustache smugly.

Su Xiao was speechless. She looked up at the time and saw that it was only a little past ten o'clock. There was still some time, which was just enough time for her to get things done.

“Alright, sir, I understand. You’re amazing; you can make decisions for your son.” Su Xiao stood up and smiled. “However, I have my principles. I won’t hand over the token to deliver the message until I see Mr. Gu Tingjiang. I’ll be going now, sir. See you at noon.”

"Sir, thank you for your trouble." Su Xiao glanced at the fuming old Mr. Gu out of the corner of her eye and spoke to the butler in a very good mood.

"Oh, no trouble at all, Comrade Su, this way please." The old butler glanced at his master, understood, and led Su Xiao out.

When she returned, she saw Grandpa Gu leisurely sipping his tea, looking quite content. She couldn't help but chuckle, yet also curious, "Brother Gu, why did you decide to tease that little girl today? Is there anything special about her?"

The butler, Gu Yi, is a cousin of Old Master Gu.
