Chapter 189, /.

After Su Xiao left, she paid little attention to the Qin family and continued to do her own things in an orderly manner every day.

The Qin family mobilized a considerable number of people for her sake.

When Qin Yumei woke up the next day, she still felt uneasy and anxious, so she called Gu Tingjiang.

When Gu Tingjiang received Qin Yumei's call, he was so excited he almost fell over. "Yumei, you're finally talking to me?"

Qin Yumei remained noncommittal, only saying calmly, "Do you know that Elder Hua has a young apprentice?"

"Ah, yes, that's true." The news had already spread throughout the circle. Gu Tingjiang thought for a moment and asked, "Is there a problem?"

“She’s from Nancheng, and she’s about the same age as our Lulu. Plus, she looks about five-tenths like me. Do you think that’s all okay?” Qin Yumei was always so aggressive when facing Gu Tingjiang.

This courage, however, is the result of Gu Tingjiang's indulgence over the years.

"Yu Mei, don't worry. Since this has happened, I will definitely investigate it thoroughly."

"Let me know if you have any news," Qin Yumei replied coldly.

"Smack!"

The other end of the phone hung up.

"Hey, Yumei." Gu Tingjiang hung up the phone dejectedly. Then, as he thought about what he had just said, Hua Lao's apprentice, a young face suddenly appeared in his mind.

He had once suspected that the girl might be her.

Gu Tingjiang grabbed the clothes beside him and put them on as he walked.

Today is Sunday, and Su Xiao slept in a little later than usual.

I exercise first thing in the morning.

"Knock knock, is anyone there?" Gu Tingjiang had a cigarette dangling from his mouth, his brows furrowed tightly. Puffs of smoke squinted his eyes.

He recalled the initial doubts and subsequent denials, one of which involved her delivering a message to Qin Huifang, carrying a jade pendant when she approached him. If she were his child, she should also possess a jade pendant like that. Could the pendant have been lost?

Secondly, she also treated Qin Huifang's illness.

He subconsciously categorized her as being in Qin Huifang's group.

Indeed, there's no way it's such a coincidence.

Su Xiao opened the door and saw a disheveled middle-aged man, who was nowhere to be seen the gentle and refined aura she had when she first met him.

"Mr. Gu, what brings you here?" Su Xiao asked, taking a few steps back without making a sound. The smoke was too pungent, and she didn't want to inhale secondhand smoke.

Although Su Xiao was careful, Gu Tingjiang still sensed something was wrong and quickly threw away and stomped out the half-smoked cigarette.

"I've come to see you. Can we talk?" Gu Tingjiang asked nervously.

"Please sit down. What would you like to ask?" Su Xiao hadn't expected him to come; she thought it would be someone from the Qin family looking for her.

"You, you are Elder Hua's disciple?" Gu Tingjiang's palms were sweating.

"Yes," Su Xiao said with a frank smile. "Grandpa Hua is my neighbor. I grew up under his watchful eye. Last year, when we reunited, I became his apprentice and started learning medicine from him. What's wrong with that? Is there anything wrong with it?"

Gu Tingjiang shook his head, took out a jade pendant and handed it to her, "Have you ever seen a jade pendant like this?"

Su Xiao immediately recognized it as the piece that Qin Huifang had given her to find Gu Tingjiang.

"The same? No."

Su Xiao remained expressionless. She had indeed not seen a single jade pendant that was exactly the same; she had only seen similar ones.

Both jade pendants feature simple phoenix designs, but they face different directions, which most people wouldn't notice.

Gu Tingjiang's face darkened, but he still persisted, asking, "Are your parents good to you?"
