Hua Lu's return has finally brought this family together again after more than ten years.
Hua Cunming stared blankly at the man in front of him. He didn't recognize him, but his grandparents called him son, so could he be his father?
"Xiaoming, this is your father. Quickly call him 'Dad'!" Grandma Hua noticed her grandson's dazed expression and spoke with some urgency.
Hua Lu looked at his son, his eyes filled with emotion. "Son? Xiaoming, I'm your father."
Hua Cunming thought for a moment, and under the expectant gazes of everyone, he slowly spoke, "Dad."
"Hey." Hua Lu hugged her son tightly, buried her head in his small shoulder, and her tears soaked his coat.
Seeing this scene, Su Xiao's eyes also reddened.
At that moment, there was another knock on the door.
Su Xiao went straight to open the door, and just as she expected, said, "You've arrived."
When Shang Ziming entered the room and saw the scene in the living room, he was not surprised. "You're back. That was quick."
"You know?" Su Xiao asked in surprise, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Hmm." Shang Ziming nodded and said, "I thought he wouldn't be home until the first day of the Lunar New Year. It's good that he's a day early. The family can reunite and have a good New Year."
Shang Ziming's voice wasn't loud, but it wasn't quiet either. The room wasn't big, and with so many people, the living room felt a bit crowded.
"You're the one who brought him back?" Hua Shancheng looked at Shang Ziming, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you."
"Master, no need to be so polite, we're all family." Shang Ziming's use of "Master"... well...
Hua Shancheng looked at him and then at his own apprentice, and suddenly understood. He laughed and said, "Good, very good. One thing at a time, but I still want to thank you."
Shang Ziming pursed his lips in satisfaction; he must have passed the test of meeting the parents. Su Xiao no longer had parents, and since ancient times, a teacher for a day is a father for life; this Elder Hua was her elder.
Grandma Hua understood, and smiled with satisfaction. They were both good children; she only hoped they could soon achieve their happy ending.
Whatever the reason, the fact that Hua Lu is back is a great joy.
Shang Zimu did indeed play a role in Hua Lu's matter, and it was also due to the relaxation of policies that Hua Lu was able to return in the future, even if it wasn't Shang Zimu. However, it would be best if Hua Lu could return sooner rather than later.
Hua Lu was disheveled. Grandma Hua first made him a bowl of glutinous rice balls. After he ate, she took him to the bathhouse to wash up.
When he returned, he was a handsome middle-aged man, but his face and eyes still showed signs of fatigue and vicissitude.
After lunch, Shang Ziming said goodbye to Hua Shancheng and the others, and left with Su Xiao.
Su Xiao blushed and was dragged away under the teasing gazes of the crowd.
Once outside, she fanned her cheek with her free hand and asked somewhat shyly, "Where are we going?"
"Let's go see a movie first." Shang Ziming was prepared and took out two movie tickets.
Su Xiao thought about it and decided that going on a date to see a movie was a good idea.
The two walked hand in hand down the street and soon arrived at the movie theater.
"Hey, girl, it's been a long time! What brings you here today?"
That's right, this old man is the same one who sold him roasted nuts and seeds back then.
"I'm here to watch a movie. Sir, how's business?" Su Xiao asked with a smile.
The old man grinned, revealing his gap-toothed smile. "Alright, alright. Here, take some melon seeds and peanuts to eat inside. It's on me."
The old man generously gave her a small bag of sunflower seeds and a small bag of peanuts.
Su Xiaoli readily took out her money, saying, "It's not easy for you to do business, sir. I can't possibly take advantage of you."
