As Su Xiao was lost in thought, she saw the man walk straight toward them.
The nurses around them got excited, pushing and shoving each other while yelling "Ahhh!"
Cui Sheng stopped three steps away, simply because the group of girls opposite him was intimidating.
He composed himself and looked directly at Su Xiao, saying, "Hello, we meet again."
Su Xiao was quite surprised that he would come all the way to say hello, but since he was already there, she naturally couldn't be impolite. "Hello, thank you for yesterday."
"You're welcome, it was nothing." Cui Sheng spoke in a clear and pleasant voice, unhurried and easy to like.
The two exchanged pleasantries but didn't know what to say, mainly because a group of women were watching them intently, their reactions to their acquaintance ranging from curiosity and surprise to jealousy...
A woman's heart is especially complex.
One moment they're best friends, the next they're harboring dirty thoughts because of something.
And so, the sarcastic remark came out: "Oh, so Xiaoxiao knows Dr. Cui?"
It's just an ordinary sentence, but the tone of voice makes it sound strange.
Su Xiao chuckled awkwardly, "It was just a brief encounter. I only just found out that his name is Dr. Cui."
Not wanting to talk much more with these young women who were obsessed with love, she said to Cui Sheng, "Dr. Cui, it's getting late, I'll be going now."
Without waiting for his response, she said to the nurse, "Miss, you're busy, goodbye."
With that, she turned and walked away quickly.
Cui Sheng watched her departing figure. Was that direction towards the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine?
He said nothing and turned to leave, not even glancing at the group of nurses.
The nurses looked at each other for a long time before one of the more senior nurses spoke up, "What are you all still standing here for? Go away."
Upon hearing this, everyone scattered like birds and fish, and soon the lobby service desk returned to silence.
When Su Xiao arrived at Hua Shancheng's office, he hadn't come in yet, so Su Xiao started cleaning, making tea, and preparing things for the consultation.
Soon after, Hua Shancheng arrived.
"Good morning, Master." Su Xiao eagerly helped him with his bag and began her workday.
Hua Shancheng's appointments are highly sought after at the hospital; there's a fixed number of appointments available each day, and once they're full, they're gone.
There were still many people today. Su Xiao and Hua Shancheng faced each other and took the pulses of the patients. When they encountered an unusual pulse pattern, Hua Shancheng would ask Su Xiao to take the pulse for a while longer. Then the two of them discussed the prescription, with Su Xiao taking the lead and Hua Shancheng providing supplements or comments. Su Xiao was also responsible for recording the information and writing the prescription.
That's how she is—accumulating experience, learning knowledge, and constantly improving herself day by day.
Cui Sheng arrived at her office and began her workday.
The news that a returned overseas PhD neurosurgeon was working at the hospital had spread like wildfire, and many patients came seeking his expertise. On his first day back at work, all appointments were booked.
At noon, after seeing off the last patient, the hospital director walked in with a smile.
"Xiao Cui, how are you? Are you adjusting well?" The hospital director had been keeping an eye on things here, and as soon as he saw that the patients had been seen enough, someone called him over, which was just in time.
"That's good, Dean," Cui Sheng replied with a smile.
"That's good." The dean smiled like a Buddha. "Come on, I'll take you to the cafeteria for lunch, and I'll introduce you to a few renowned doctors. They're the living advertisements of our hospital..."
Cui Sheng couldn't help but think of Su Xiao's face again, and secretly looked forward to it, "Okay."
