He followed Old Master Gu through thick and thin his entire life, had no children, and now holds the important position of housekeeper in the Gu family.
"Hehe, don't you think her smile at the beginning was fake?" Old Master Gu laughed, he had done it on purpose.
Gu Yi suddenly realized what was going on. Looking back now, it was indeed true. The girl had been smiling the whole time, hiding all her true emotions behind a smiling face.
However, her smile is indeed quite beautiful and infectious, which makes people like her even more.
"She's quite an interesting girl, but I wonder what she wants with Tingjiang?" Old Master Gu was quite curious about Su Xiao's purpose in coming.
"I'll find out at noon," Gu Yi said with a smile.
"Hmm." Old Master Gu wasn't too fixated on the unknown; after all, he would find out when the time was right. "Tell the kitchen to prepare a couple more dishes."
Grandpa Gu actually found the little girl quite pleasing to the eye. After giving Gu Yi his instructions, he hummed a little tune and prepared to go for a walk.
As Su Xiao stepped out of the Gu family's gate, she looked back at the heavy door and couldn't help but smile.
Turning around and taking light steps, she planned to visit the Shu and Xu families. She had already planned it out before coming. The Shu and Xu families were not too far away, and she only planned to deliver the letter in a little over an hour. She did not intend to stay for long, so the time was enough.
Actually, she appreciated Shu Zhendong and Xu Xiuyun's good intentions, but she didn't really intend to bother the Shu and Xu families.
This time, just deliver the letter and find the door; that's all.
After a 30-minute walk, she arrived at the Xu family's house. She knocked on the door and went in. It was also a courtyard house, but the Xu family was vastly different from the Gu family she had just visited. The Xu family had a small population, with only Xu's mother at home. She accepted the letter and treated Su Xiao quite politely. Su Xiao exchanged a few pleasantries with her and then left.
After walking for another ten minutes or so, they finally arrived at the Shu family's house. The Shu family's house looked a bit bigger than the Xu family's house. There were only elderly people at home. They were very happy to see Su Xiao and invited her to stay for dinner. Su Xiao quickly declined, saying that she had something to do, and ran off.
There was nothing she could do; the family was just too enthusiastic, and she couldn't keep up with their hospitality.
Su Xiao returned to Gu Family Alley just in time, already panting heavily.
Gu Yi was already waiting at the gate. When he saw her figure in the distance, a smile involuntarily appeared on his lips.
"Comrade Su, you've finally arrived. Please come in quickly; the old gentleman and the young master are waiting for you."
Su Xiao was a little surprised and apologized, "I'm sorry I'm late."
"Not too late, not too late, just right. Your husband just got home too." Gu Yi led her to the restaurant.
Su Xiao stood at the door, too embarrassed to go in.
Lunch was laid out on the dining table inside. Old Master Gu and Gu Tingjiang sat and talked without touching their chopsticks.
"Little girl, what are you looking at? Come in quickly." When she didn't move, Old Master Gu put on a sullen look. "Do I, an old man, have to come and invite you myself?"
Gu Tingjiang also looked at Su Xiao, and his expression suddenly became dazed, "You are..."
Su Xiao felt very annoyed. She had been stupid to show up at someone's mealtime; wasn't that just obviously an attempt to freeload?
But she really didn't mean it that way, so what should we do now? We're in a bit of a dilemma.
Before she could even figure it out, someone grabbed her. "Are you Lulu? Are you?"
The other person was excited, somewhat uncertain, and looked at her expectantly.
"Sir, you've mistaken me for someone else."
