Chapter 79 79 At the Moment of Parting
I was busy all day, but before I knew it, it was dark.
When Huang Feiyan heard about her situation, she followed her around tearfully like a little shadow.
Su Xiao was still busy in the kitchen. She turned around to get a jar and almost bumped into her. She said helplessly, "Alright, you should go back now. It's getting dark. I'm just going to the next village. It's not like I'm saying goodbye to someone."
"But, but, if you leave, we don't know when we'll see each other again." Huang Feiyan was heartbroken and reluctant to part with Su Xiaoxiao.
“I’ll be back for my exam next month,” Su Xiao added. “And we can still keep in touch, so don’t be sad. We’re best friends, and distance won’t make us strangers.”
"You said it, we'll be best friends for life."
"Okay, I agree."
"Pfft..." They both laughed.
With Huang Feiyan gone, Su Xiao could finally get down to business.
Most of the things in the kitchen are tidied up, but there's still no space to put them in.
Su Xiao only planned to leave behind two days' worth of food and a few essential kitchen utensils, taking everything else with her. Luckily, she had a coal stove at home, which she kept in her spatial storage so she could cook for herself there.
If Grandma Su and Grandpa Su really move here, they will naturally bring their grain and belongings from their old home, so she won't have to worry about that.
She's bought quite a lot of things these days. She just finished braising the pork hock, pig's head, pig's tail, and pig offal she bought today, filling four large jars and there's still some left.
Su Xiao thought for a moment, then took a large basin, put the remaining braised meat in it, placed it in a basket, covered it with a cloth, and carried it to the next room.
"Little Miss." Hua Cunming opened the door and was very happy to see Su Xiao come over.
"Xiaoming, has your grandma come back yet?"
"You're back. I'm cooking dinner." The meat in Su Xiao's basket smelled so good that even though Hua Cun knew it wasn't right, he couldn't help but glance at the basket, and his mouth watered more and more frequently.
"Close the door, come to the kitchen." Su Xiao smiled, took two candies out of her pocket and gave them to him, then went to the kitchen.
Hua Cunming quickly closed the door, glancing furtively around as he did so, only feeling completely relieved when he realized no one was around.
"Grandma Hua, I've braised some meat. I'm saving it for you and Xiaoming to enjoy slowly." Su Xiao took out a large basin from the basket and placed it on the stove.
"You child, why are you bringing meat again? I can't accept it, take it back." Grandma Hua immediately refused when she saw the huge basin of meat.
Su Xiao held her hand, "Grandma Hua, I'm going to the countryside tomorrow, you..."
"What? Why are you going to the countryside? I didn't hear you mention it before." Grandma Hua interrupted her anxiously before she could finish speaking.
Su Xiao felt a warmth in her heart; it felt quite nice to be cared for.
She then recounted how she had been tricked into going to the countryside, which made Grandma Hua curse her, saying, "What a wicked person, doing nothing but wicked things!"
Su Xiao smiled as she listened, "Grandma Hua, I bought a lot of meat today and took three jars with me. These are for you and Xiaoming, so please don't be shy and accept them."
In my yard, my grandparents will most likely come to stay, and my uncle's family might also cause trouble. Just ignore them and let them make a fuss.
"If anything happens in the future, you can ask Xiaoming to go to the Huang family's youngest daughter. She's a good friend of mine, and we keep in touch."
“Hey, how will you manage if you, a young girl, go to the countryside?”
"I'm fine. I can do well anywhere. Don't worry."
