Chapter 167 Hope for Light

Grandma Hua's throat was like this, and she couldn't get any information out of her, so naturally she had to go to the doctor for advice.

Su Xiao knocked on the door of the doctor's office and went inside.

We learned from the doctor that Grandma Hua had developed pneumonia with a high fever when she was brought in. After two days of treatment, her condition has improved, but she still needs to continue receiving intravenous treatment.

Also, Grandma Hua's foot is broken, and it takes a hundred days to recover from a broken bone, so she'll probably need to rest for quite a while.

Su Xiao breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this. As long as he could be cured, everything would be alright.

Back in the ward, Su Xiao asked Hua Cunming about his condition at the time.

Hua Cunming recounted the story in detail, which was basically the same as what he had heard from others. However, in the middle, the health center said that they couldn't cure Grandma Hua, which caused Hua Cunming to break down. Later, he remembered the envelope she had given him and felt like he had grasped a lifeline.

He went to Huang Feiyan and gave her the letter. Huang Feiyan did not disappoint him and agreed to help. She found someone and used the money in the envelope to get Grandma Hua into a larger hospital, complete the admission procedures, and settle in.

After hearing this, Su Xiao felt a wave of fear. She thought that when she got back, she would go and thank her helpful friend properly.

Su Xiao frowned as she glanced at the cold, mushy noodles in the lunchbox. "They must be made with dark flour. They look so unappetizing."

"Don't eat this, throw it away, it's not nutritious." Su Xiao said as she pulled a basket out from under the bed and took out the malted milk powder and sponge cake inside.

Hua Cunming was about to argue when he heard that his sister had taken out malted milk powder. He picked up the lunchbox and gulped down the soup noodles in one go.

Meeting Su Xiao's surprised gaze, Hua Cunming smiled and said, "I'll eat this, and give the malted milk powder to Grandma."

Su Xiao pursed her lips slightly, sighed, and patted his head, saying, "From now on, I'll take care of all three meals a day. You just need to stay here with Grandma."

Hua Cunming's eyes sparkled, filled with joyful tears. "Thank you, sister."

"Make a cup of malted milk powder and feed some to Grandma with the steamed egg custard. I'll go back and cook. Give me your house key."

"good."

Hua Cunming was full of energy, which shows that for the weak, having hope and support is like having light, and no amount of hardship is frightening.

After leaving the ward, Su Xiao went to the hospital's cashier to inquire about the fees. As expected, there was no money left in the account, so she immediately deposited two hundred yuan.

Afterwards, she returned to the Hua family home and started cooking porridge—rice, vegetables, and shredded chicken porridge, a nutritionally balanced meal.

In the afternoon, Su Xiao went to the school and inquired about the exam with the principal.

The principal was very happy about her return and even let her come back to teach for a few more days so she could make a final push.

Su Xiao declined, but the principal wasn't angry and respected her decision. He quickly completed the formalities for her, and she just needed to bring her documents on the day of the exam.

Su Xiao thanked him, tucked his ID into his pocket, and happily left the principal's office.

"Xiaoxiao." It was right after class, and as expected, she was hugged tightly by Huang Feiyan. "Ah, you're back. Why didn't you tell me sooner? I could have come to pick you up."

"I just got back, so I came to see you." Su Xiao looked at Huang Feiyan and said nice things without hesitation. Of course, she really did come to see her and thank her in person for her help. "I went to the hospital to see Grandma Hua. Thank you for your help."

"Oh, it's nothing. I just ran errands and didn't really help much." Huang Feiyan felt embarrassed about this, as she genuinely felt she hadn't done anything.
