After leaving the Gu family home, Su Xiao felt relaxed and strolled home.
There's not much she can do in this matter; as long as she has a clear conscience, that's enough.
Passing by a street corner, Su Xiao spotted a vendor selling roasted chestnuts. She sniffed the air, bought a small bag, and happily ate them as she walked.
Mmm, it's fragrant, sweet, and delicious.
She seems to have collected and transplanted several chestnut saplings in her online space. I wonder how many years it will take for them to bear fruit. I'm really looking forward to it.
Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, her eyes widened, and in a moment of madness, she turned and ran away.
Shang Ziming was so angry he laughed. He took three steps in two, grabbed her by the back of her neck and said coldly, "You dare to run away after seeing me? You've gotten bolder in the few months I've been away."
"Brother Mu, Brother Mu, put me down quickly, I can't breathe." Su Xiao grabbed her collar with one hand and tried to pry his hand off with the other.
"If you don't run forward, how will you get strangled?" Unable to bear seeing her suffer, Shang Ziming released her collar, reached out, wrapped his arms around her waist, and trapped her between his arms and chest.
Startled, Su Xiao hid in his arms and looked around anxiously. When she saw someone looking over, she immediately patted his chest and urged, "Let go quickly, someone is looking over here. They might arrest you."
Shang Ziming raised an eyebrow, noticing out of the corner of his eye that there were indeed pedestrians looking around. He could only suppress the excitement in his heart for now, but he couldn't let her go so easily.
He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "I'll deal with you when we get home."
A tingling, electric current surged from the base of her ear, making her head buzz, her face flush, her heart pound.
After Shang Ziming finished speaking, he straightened up, released her, and was very satisfied to see her blushing face.
"Let's go home."
As he spoke, he naturally took her hand and led her forward.
Su Xiao's face was still flushed, and she silently lowered her head, following his steps closely.
After a long pause, she finally found her voice and asked in a muffled tone, "Why are you here?"
"Hmph." Upon hearing her question, Shang Ziming couldn't help but snort, showing how much resentment he harbored.
"How dare you ask me? Why didn't you come to see me first when you arrived in Kyoto? And you didn't even tell me beforehand."
Shang Ziming was angry, so he squeezed her small hand to vent his anger, but with just the right amount of force.
Su Xiao noticed the sudden pressure on her hand and knew he was angry, so she quickly explained, "I didn't come alone, Yanzi is with me. We came together, so I have to settle her in first before I can do my own thing..."
The little girl's tone was coquettish as she shook her large hand, begging for mercy decisively.
Shang Ziming remained aloof and seemingly unmoved. "Hmph, what kind of 'settling in' do you mean?"
As far as he knew, she had left Xiaheshan Village long ago and had been in Kyoto for who knows how many days.
"If I hadn't met Grandpa Hua yesterday, I wouldn't have known you were already here, and I would still be waiting foolishly for your call."
"Hehe." Su Xiao chuckled, "You're not stupid. You found out yesterday and came here today. Your efficiency is amazing."
"Hmph, stop with the fake smile and explain yourself. Why didn't you come to me? Don't tell me it's because of Huang Zhiqing, I don't believe you." Shang Ziming was determined to get to the bottom of this, after all, she had a history of running away.
"Uh..." Su Xiao knew she was in the wrong, so she stammered and didn't say anything.
