Chapter 104 104 Job Assignment
Su Xiao held the bowl, watching them eat with relish, and was in a particularly good mood. Her eyes crinkled into smiles, and her dimples never disappeared. "I brought a lot with me this time. We can make more when we finish eating."
"Mmm, Xiaoxiao, it's so good to have you here. We can even eat an extra bowl of rice..."
"Cough cough, why eat so much? Eating only food won't help you grow your brain, it's a waste of food, cough cough." Shang Ziming glanced at them sideways, and the two immediately fell silent.
This damn oppressive force.
Fang Minghao muttered resentfully, "You're just jealous."
Shang Ziming's eyes were deep as he calmly replied, "Yes, so what?"
Fang Minghao and Cheng Jiulang had no particular reason; they buried their heads in their porridge and slurped it down, biting into the dried radish with a satisfying crunch—their silence spoke volumes.
Shang Zimu scoffed, "Naive!"
Yes, he was just jealous because both the dried radish and the chili sauce were spicy, and he had a cough and couldn't eat them.
Seeing them enjoying their food, I reached out to take some too, but the little girl stopped me.
Su Xiao found their playful antics amusing. Noticing Shang Ziming's gaze occasionally drifting to the dried radish and chili sauce, she couldn't help but say, "Next time I'll make you some non-spicy dishes."
"Thank you, Xiaoxiao." Shang Ziming was satisfied, his eyes flashing slightly.
Shu Bowen suddenly felt that the food didn't taste good anymore. "Xiaoxiao, I want some too."
He couldn't quite articulate what he wanted, but he wanted everything they had.
“Okay, I’ll take care of everything.” Su Xiao readily agreed, taking full responsibility.
"Hehe." Shu Bowen chuckled, happy.
Shang Ziming tightened his grip on the chopsticks.
After breakfast, the men took turns washing the dishes and tidying up the table.
Afterwards, the group went to the village committee in a large procession.
"Captain, Secretary, we're here." Fang Minghao took the lead.
"Good morning, Secretary; good morning, Captain." The others who arrived later also greeted him.
"Good morning, everyone." Zhao Xi quite liked this group of young, energetic, and polite children.
"Xiaoxiao, come with me to the chicken farm to work in a little while." Zhao Xi waved to Su Xiao.
Su Xiao was delighted and smiled broadly, "Okay, thank you, Secretary."
Chicken farm is great, it's close to the mountains, which makes things convenient for her, hehe.
"Oh, what's the good news? You're giving thanks first thing in the morning?"
Another group of people came over and overheard Su Xiao's words, so they casually asked a question.
"Here you are. Today's task is still to replant seedlings in the fields. Everyone, be careful, this is related to the autumn harvest." Zhao Xi ignored his question and directly assigned tasks.
Su Xiao quietly shrank into a corner, trying to make herself less noticeable.
After everyone had finished their tasks for the day and left, Zhao Xi led Su Xiao towards the back mountain.
“Our village has a farm at the foot of the mountain behind the village. Right now, we have twenty pigs, five cows, and twenty sheep. We also have over a hundred chickens, ducks, and geese each…” Zhao Xi led the way while introducing the farm to Su Xiao.
Soon, they arrived at their destination, and Su Xiao finally got a clear view of the entire farm. Five rows of low houses were neatly arranged; the two rows on the left were for pigs, sheep, and cattle, while the three rows on the right were for chickens, ducks, and geese.
However, two of the rooms looked different.
"Old Gong, Old Hua, Old Cai, Tian Sheng, Tian Niu, Granny Cai, where are they..." Zhao Xi called out to the breeding farm several times.
Sure enough, two people came out of one of the rooms, an old man and a young man.
"Secretary Zhao, you've arrived." Granny Cai, with her back hunched, greeted him with a smile.
