Chapter 189, /.

Lost in thought, Su Xiao soon found Gu Family Alley.

Gu Family Alley indicates that the surname Gu must be quite common in this alley.

Su Xiao approached the nearest house, where an old lady was sitting at the door. She asked, "Excuse me, ma'am, where does Gu Tingjiang from the Gu family live?"

The old lady looked at her with some surprise, "Who are you?"

Su Xiao smiled and said, "I'm here to deliver a message. Someone asked me to bring some things to Comrade Gu Tingjiang."

The old lady was momentarily stunned by Su Xiao's smile. When she came to her senses, she pointed to a house in the middle of the alley and said, "That's the one with the big stone lion at the door."

Su Xiao saw it by following her finger, waved to her and thanked her, "Thank you, Auntie, goodbye."

The old woman watched her retreating figure for a long while, then murmured, "Why do I feel like I've seen her before?"

Unaware of her doubts, Su Xiao successfully found the Gu family and knocked on the door.

Soon, someone came out to open the door. "Who is it?"

Seeing that it was an elderly person, Su Xiao quickly smiled politely and said, "Hello, I'm looking for Gu Tingjiang. Is he home?"

"Looking for the master? He's not here. Is there something you need?" The old butler looked at the girl in front of him, feeling that she looked familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had seen her before. "Why don't you come in first? The old master is at home."

"Okay, thank you, sir." Su Xiao smiled politely as always.

The old housekeeper led them to the main hall. The Gu family's house was a genuine courtyard house, but she didn't know how many courtyards it had. However, judging from the layout of the first courtyard, she knew that the Gu family was no ordinary family.

"Wait here for a moment."

"OK."

Su Xiao sat obediently on a chair to the side, silently observing the layout of the lobby. "Xiao Liu, are those paintings on the wall genuine?"

Xiao Liu said, "Yes, the paper is probably over two hundred years old."

Su Xiao pursed her lips. "Fine, very good. Zheng Banqiao's painting is hanging openly in the main hall. The Gu family is indeed not simple."

"Little girl, who are you?" Old Master Gu leaned on his cane, squinting at Su Xiao.

Su Xiao turned around, quickly stood up, and said with a smile, "Grandpa, hello, I apologize for disturbing you. My name is Su Xiaoxiao. I'm here today on someone's behalf to see Mr. Gu Tingjiang and deliver a message."

"Oh?" As Su Xiao introduced himself and explained his purpose, Old Master Gu had already taken the seat of honor. The old butler immediately poured him tea and casually served Su Xiao a cup as well.

"What message did you convey?" Old Master Gu looked at her sharply.

The superior's scrutiny made Su Xiao very uncomfortable, and her smile faded somewhat. She asked in a businesslike tone, "Can you help Mr. Gu Tingjiang make a decision?"

Old Master Gu raised an eyebrow, his gaze filled with deep inquiry and anger at being offended. "What do you think?"

"I have no idea," Su Xiao said calmly. "I was just asked to come and find someone. Since he's not here, perhaps I should come back later?"

Even so, she was really reluctant, as it would take too much time.

"Whatever you want." Old Master Gu looked indifferent as he picked up his teacup and took a sip.

Su Xiao was momentarily speechless, but her smile only deepened. "Hmph, I'll never lose face."

She looked at the old butler and said, "Sir, do you know when Mr. Gu Tingjiang will be back? It's a matter of life and death, so please tell me the truth."

"A human life?" The old butler was startled and looked at Old Master Gu, unsure how to answer.

“Yes, the person who asked me to do this is here to ask for help.” Su Xiao nodded earnestly and said, “Thank you for your trouble, sir.”
