Chapter 138 (138) A Little Jealous

Huang Feiyan was heartbroken. She took out some stationery and began to write a letter in a long and flowing style.

She was very distressed. She was graduating from high school in just over a month. What would await her after graduation?

A job? Her mother definitely wouldn't be willing to spend money to buy her one. It seems that besides going to the countryside, getting married is her only option.

She didn't want to get married.

Huang Feiyan wrote for three whole pages before she stopped.

Then, stopping at the very end, the ink from the pen tip smudged the white paper, making a small black blob stand out conspicuously.

"Feiyan, dinner's ready." Huang's mother's voice startled Huang Feiyan. She frowned and quickly typed, "Xiaoxiao, when is your brother coming back?"

Su Xiao was cooking zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) when she received the reply.

Actually, the Dragon Boat Festival has been over for several days, but everyone was busy with the final finishing work in the fields, so we didn't think about doing anything.

Well, it's raining today, and I'm just killing time anyway.

Su Xiao braved the rain to go to Aunt Wu's house, exchanged some bamboo leaves, ten eggs and some glutinous rice. On the way, she took out half a bag of five catties of glutinous rice from her space, mixed it together and took it back.

Inside the pavilion, Shang Zimu and his companions were brewing tea and chatting.

Seeing that Su Xiao was struggling to hold an umbrella in one hand and a basket in the other, they noticed that Su Xiao was holding the umbrella in one hand and carrying a basket in the other.

Without saying a word, Shu Bowen rushed out and took the basket from her hand. "Xiaoxiao, what did you buy? It's so heavy. Why didn't you ask me to go with you?"

Shang Ziming silently resumed his sitting posture, his fingers unconsciously tightening around the teacup. He secretly regretted that he was sitting in the wrong position and hadn't been the first to notice the commotion at the courtyard gate. He had been too focused on the intersection in the backyard.

"It's okay, it's just a few pounds, I can carry it." Su Xiao tilted the umbrella closer to Shu Bowen, trying to keep them both dry.

Shang Ziming watched the two of them walk over, leaning on each other and chatting happily. His dark eyes were unfathomable.

"Click"

With a crisp sound, the cup in Shang Ziming's hand broke in two, and the tea inside splashed all around.

"Wow." Fang Minghao looked at the tea spilled on the round table, stuck out his butt, and backed away repeatedly.

Su Xiao stopped in her tracks, holding her umbrella, staring wide-eyed at Shang Ziming's hand and the broken cup.

Shang Ziming's face darkened instantly, his brows furrowed, and he was secretly annoyed.

Cheng Jiulang looked at this and then that, and suddenly exerted force on his hand, shattering the cup with a crack. "Oh dear, this cup is of such poor quality."

Shang Ziming raised an eyebrow and gave him an appreciative look. As expected of someone who had followed him for five years, he really had a good eye.

Cheng Jiulang stood up and started tidying up while looking at Su Xiao, and greeted her naturally, "Xiao Xiao, come here quickly, where have you been this morning?"

Su Xiao pursed her lips, composed herself, and put on a smiling face, saying, "I went to Aunt Wu's house and exchanged some things. I'll wrap some zongzi later. It was the Dragon Boat Festival a few days ago, and we didn't prepare any or eat any zongzi. We'll make up for it today."

"Zongzi, oh, delicious." Cheng Jiulang was very supportive, his eyes darting around as he added, "Brother Mu especially loves zongzi, Xiaoxiao, you should wrap a few more."

"Haha, yes, I bought a lot of glutinous rice. I'll make several different flavors for everyone to eat." Su Xiao laughed it off, refusing to look at Shang Ziming.

"Then you guys are busy, I'll go to the kitchen and pack it up early so we can have it for lunch."

As she spoke, Su Xiao turned and headed towards the kitchen, while Shu Bowen braved the rain to bring the basket to the kitchen while she was lost in thought.
