Chapter 181 A Cabinet of Books
Grandma Hua, ignoring the bracelet, carefully opened the envelope.
Su Xiao placed the bracelet on the table beside her, wanting to help, "Grandma, let me help you..."
"No, no need," Grandma Hua refused without hesitation before she could finish speaking.
What she held in her hand was not just a simple letter, but a belief, a hope.
She opened the envelope and saw the familiar words on the letter. She could no longer hold back her tears as she read the contents of the letter.
Su Xiao looked at her, feeling somewhat heavy-hearted, and silently stood up and went out.
"Sister." In the courtyard, Hua Cunming saw Su Xiao come out and immediately went forward, peering behind her, but Su Xiao had closed the door behind her, so he couldn't see anything. "What did Grandma say?"
Grandma Hua had just asked Hua Cunming to stay in the yard while she talked to Su Xiao in the room, which made Hua Cunming curious.
Su Xiao rubbed his head and said, "It's nothing. Let's go to the kitchen to boil some water, and I'll wipe your grandma's body in a bit."
“Okay.” Hua Cunming nodded immediately and ran to the kitchen. “I’ll cook it. Sister, you can rest.”
Su Xiao looked at his lively and cheerful appearance and felt very gratified.
After estimating the time, Su Xiao filled a basin with hot water and carried it back to her room.
Grandma Hua still had tear stains on her face and was still in a daze.
Su Xiao gently put down the basin, wrung out a hot towel for her, and handed it over, saying, "Grandma, wipe yourself down."
Grandma Hua looked up at her, a forced smile on her lips, took the hot towel, and wiped her face as she said, "Girl, I'm sorry you had to see this."
Su Xiao shook her head, "That's not true."
Grandma Hua wiped her face, feeling refreshed and calm, and smiled, "I never expected you to become the old man's last disciple."
"Hehe, I am grateful for Master's kindness and generous teaching." Su Xiao smiled on the surface, but in her heart she was already sobbing. She was so miserable. She came back to take an exam, and Old Man Hua still didn't forget to assign her a bunch of homework.
"The old man is lucky; even in his old age, he can still find a good apprentice to pass on his mantle." Grandma Hua sighed softly, thinking of something.
Su Xiao smiled slightly, "It's my good fortune too."
Grandma Hua smiled noncommittally, looking at the letter in her hand, and said, "The old man asked me to give you the family's books. Go and open the wardrobe."
Wardrobe?
Su Xiao stepped forward to examine the situation, unsure of what to do next.
Grandma Hua gave instructions again, "There's a notch on the left, pull it forward..."
Following Grandma Hua's instructions, Su Xiao finally pushed open the wardrobe and saw that the back of the wardrobe was a bookcase.
I flipped through it casually, and all I saw were medical books and medical notes.
Su Xiao pouted, feeling that the days ahead were probably going to be dark and hopeless.
"Let's find a box and move them all," Grandma Hua sighed.
"These... are all Master's hard work. I'll take a few to look at, and leave the rest here. I'll come back to exchange them after I've finished reading them."
"Take it away, your master told me to." Grandma Hua waved her hand, somewhat resentfully, "I've been taking care of him for over ten years, and I'm already fed up with it."
"Okay." Su Xiao didn't refuse again.
Although she would still secretly complain and joke about studying medicine, she knew better than to be careless when it came to actually studying.
Having more skills is never a bad thing; it's always good to learn more, especially since she has an unfair advantage. It would be a waste not to learn more.
With a cabinet full of books, Su Xiao found a fertilizer bag and pretended to move it three times before finally finishing.
