The Shanghai Stock Exchange has put a lot of effort into organizing this investment bidding conference.
Early that morning, Su Xiao took out the outfit she had prepared and put it on: a black long over-the-knee cotton coat of her own design, with a cinched waist, simple and elegant, paired with a red turtleneck sweater and a plaid midi skirt, and black high-heeled leather boots.
This outfit, which would be quite ordinary in later generations, is now considered eye-catching.
Su Xiao styled her hair into a classic updo, and a jade hairpin with emerald green cloud patterns elevated her overall demeanor.
This jade hairpin was a gift she received after she was recognized as a relative by the Gu and Qin families. It was one of the pieces in a set of jade ornaments given to her by Old Madam Qin.
The accessories included bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and jade rings. Wearing the whole set would be too flashy and wouldn't match her outfit.
Shang Ziming stared at his girlfriend, unable to look away; he was completely captivated.
Su Xiao doesn't usually wear makeup; she's naturally beautiful, and even without makeup, she's stunning. Today, she specially applied light makeup, and with a touch of brightening, she looked even more like a fairy, captivating and enchanting.
"What are you standing there for? Let's go." Su Xiao stood in front of Shang Ziming, her eyebrows curving and her lips curving into a light smile.
Shang Ziming reached out and took her hand, gently stroking it, and sighed softly, "I'm blinded by you, Xiaoxiao, when will I be able to get a permanent position?"
The deep, husky voice entered her ears, causing her heart to flutter. Su Xiao felt her heart pound uncontrollably, and she said awkwardly, looking away, "Why are we talking about this? Let's go, time is almost up."
"No rush." Shang Ziming knew that now was not the time to discuss this topic, so he could only regretfully give up asking further questions, take her hand, and walk slowly.
Su Xiao smiled shyly at Fang Minghao and Cheng Jiulang standing to the side.
Fang Minghao and Cheng Jiulang smiled back, enjoying the gossip like little kids, pushing and shoving each other as they followed behind.
The group quickly arrived at the venue. The host had already begun the proceedings.
Shang Ziming led Su Xiao to an empty seat and they sat down quietly to listen to the speech on stage.
Su Xiao listened attentively. The country's economy is in dire need of rebuilding, and business opportunities are everywhere. As long as one is not truly incompetent, investing in any project at this time can bring in a fortune.
She needs to be selective, since she has limited funds and cannot afford to cast a wide net and focus on key catches.
After all the projects on stage had been introduced, Shang Ziming finally asked with relief, "Did you find anything you liked?"
Su Xiao nodded, "Let's go over and take a closer look."
Shang Ziming raised an eyebrow. "Okay."
By this time, the crowd had dispersed.
Su Xiao and Shang Ziming walked together to one of the booths, where the staff were enthusiastically explaining their products.
The venue was very large, and Su Xiao walked past each booth, stopping to learn more about those that interested her.
"Xiaoxiao, stay in the venue and don't leave. I'll come pick you up in a bit." Suddenly, Shang Ziming spoke up.
Su Xiao glanced at him, and seeing his serious expression, she naturally nodded obediently, "Okay."
Shang Ziming squeezed her hand, turned and left, catching up with Fang Minghao and Cheng Jiulang. He certainly hadn't come here just for this bidding and investment conference.
Su Xiao watched his departing figure with a solemn expression, and only after a long while did she turn back to continue listening to the explanation on the display stand.
