Chapter 94 94 Purchasing Furniture

Cheng Jiulang bit his chopsticks, feeling a tremendous shock; he needed to calm down.

Su Xiao didn't think anything of it, because not only Shang Ziming served her rice, but Fang Minghao also served her soup, Shu Bowen served her food, and even Cheng Jiulang politely told her to eat more.

This is basic table manners. She's the youngest and a girl, so what's wrong with her receiving a little extra care? Besides, she did put meat on their plates.

It's just a matter of reciprocity.

Well, anyway, she enjoyed the meal very much and felt that it was worth it to have eaten with these people.

Also, Fang Minghao's cooking skills are indeed quite good; he's a man who worked in the kitchen.

After lunch, there is a short break at noon.

Su Xiao planned to take this opportunity to visit Carpenter Yang's house and add the cabinets and tables she needed to buy.

So after asking Shu Bowen, the two set off together toward the village entrance.

The journey was much more lively than the way there. As we passed by each courtyard, we could hear loud laughter, shouting, and cursing coming from inside.

Some courtyards even had their gates wide open, allowing a clear view of what was inside.

Sure enough, they had just passed by a house when the people inside called out to them.

"You must be new educated youth. Where are you going?" When Aunt Huang saw Su Xiao, she looked at him like a weasel seeing a chick, her eyes darting around furtively.

Su Xiao recognized the woman immediately; she was the one among the group of elderly women she had encountered when entering the village who had been staring at her. She then smiled and said, "Auntie, we're going to Carpenter Yang's house. May I ask which way to go?"

"The Yang family?" Upon hearing that they were going to the Yang family, the old woman couldn't help but show a hint of disgust, but she quickly regained her smile and said, "The Yang family is right next door, I'll take you there."

Before Su Xiao could refuse, she strode out and beckoned them to follow her.

It's only ten steps away, we'll get there.

"Da Gui, Da Gui, someone's looking for you." The old lady's voice preceded her arrival.

"Who is it?" came an impatient voice from inside. Aunt Yang came out. "Oh, Jinhua, what brings you here at this hour? We just finished eating, so we don't have anything to borrow."

"Hey, what are you saying, Lotus? I've brought your family the God of Wealth." When Aunt Zhao heard Aunt Yang's words, her face turned sour for a moment, but it quickly changed, and she smiled somewhat obsequiously.

Aunt Yang pursed her lips and ignored her. She and Aunt Zhao had been neighbors for decades, and she knew with her eyes closed that Aunt Zhao had no good intentions.

This person never gets up early for nothing; she's a master of petty theft and shady dealings.

She looked behind her and saw two young people she didn't recognize. She had heard that new educated youth had arrived today, and these were probably the two of them.

Aunt Yang immediately greeted them warmly, "Young comrades, come in quickly. Are you here to have my husband make furniture?"

“Yes, Auntie,” Su Xiao replied with a smile. “You know, Uncle Yang is the best carpenter in the village. He makes excellent furniture, which is why we came here.”

"Oh my, what a sweet talker you have, and you're so pretty too." Aunt Yang was captivated by her smile and compliments, praising her repeatedly.

"Come, come, tell me what you need, and I'll have my husband take care of it for you." Aunt Yang pulled Su Xiao's hand and walked into the yard.

"Thank you so much, Auntie. You're such a kind person." As soon as Su Xiao heard that she could receive the money first, she immediately showered the woman with compliments.

She could see it; there were quite a few pieces of finished furniture in the yard.
