At midnight, Yu Rong, taking advantage of the guards' shift change, led An Le into the largest castle in the center of the palace.
The place was heavily guarded. Even Yu Rong could barely manage to sneak in on his own, let alone with An Le in tow. It would be impossible for them to move an inch.
Yu Rong pursed her lips. "If this continues, we'll probably be discovered. I'll distract the soldiers here, and then you can sneak in by yourself. I'll come find you later."
Anle glanced at the stained glass windows on the pointed archway and paused for a moment.
“No, we go out through the stained glass window, go around to the roof of the side aisle, and then enter through the flying buttress.”
Yu Rong frowned. Although she didn't understand how the woman knew so much about the castle's construction, she didn't bother asking her that question. Her focus was on—
"No, that would be too conspicuous and easily spotted."
"It's alright, so be it. If we act quickly, we'll meet the king by the time we find him."
We're not here to kidnap or murder the king; we're just here to talk to him about things that are in the best interests of his country.
Your reckless act of drawing the soldiers out alone is actually a more dangerous move.
"Let's stand tall and be more upright; it's better than you recklessly throwing your life away."
Yu Rong hesitated for two seconds. In that moment of hesitation, An Le reached out and opened the lattice window without hesitation, the sound startling the soldiers in the corridor—
Yu Rong was too late to stop them and could only helplessly go with the flow, breaking through the window with An Le.
Just as Anle had planned, she nimbly scaled the roof of the side corridor, leaped onto the flying buttress before the soldiers could intercept them, ran to the other end of the flying buttress, jumped down, and pounced towards the huge stained-glass window of the pointed archway below—
Yu Rong kicked open the window, shattering the stained glass, and rolled inside with An Le in his arms, rushing along the corridor toward the king's palace.
I was able to meet the King of the Kingdom of Islaile as I had hoped.
But before he could say anything, he was surrounded by soldiers who barged in shouting.
"Your Majesty—"
The king glared at Yu Rong and An Le, both shocked and furious. "Who are you? Who are you people? How dare you break into the palace?"
The head guard knelt on one knee. "Your Majesty has been disturbed. We will immediately apprehend this trespasser."
Anle, her face still wrapped in a veil, glanced at the soldiers surrounding her and Yu Rong, who were making dumplings with her, with a smile in her eyes. Her expression was one of fearlessness and superiority.
“Your Majesty, this action was taken out of necessity and was not intended to offend you.”
We have only come to discuss a deal with His Majesty the King, concerning the Kingdom of Kro. Would His Majesty be so kind as to grant us your request?
Anle dropped a bombshell, getting straight to the point.
She can't afford to dawdle around like this during a crisis.
Upon hearing Anle mention the Kingdom of Kro, the king paused for a moment, then his gaze lingered on Anle's small, veiled face.
The person in front of him was just a child, who looked gentle and harmless, so he wasn't afraid that the two of them, one big and one small, might do something offensive to him.
He waved his hand, leaving only the head guard behind, and said, "Let them go."
The head guard frowned and glanced hesitantly at the boy and girl. Although they did not look like vicious criminals, they were clearly not harmless people who could break into His Majesty's palace under the noses of so many guards.
But His Majesty the King only told them to leave, not that he should leave as well.
He could stay here to protect His Majesty the King's safety. "Everyone, get out."
"Tell me about it," the king said with some interest, though his tone was gentle, a hint of coldness was also in his voice.
If it weren't for the little girl mentioning the Kingdom of Kro, he wouldn't have kept them here to hear their purpose.
Unauthorized trespassing in the royal palace is already an unforgivable crime.
It's not too late to stop after you've listened to everything.
Anle clenched her trembling hands under her sleeves, stood upright opposite the king, tilted her head back, raised her chin to meet the king's gaze, and spoke in a calm and composed manner.
"I heard that His Majesty the King has been quite troubled recently because of the dispute with the Kingdom of Kro."
The king of the Kingdom of Kro was quite unhappy and was already planning to send troops to Islail.
I came here specifically to be understanding and to share His Majesty's burdens.
