Chapter 180 High-ranking officials come to provide disaster relief

Now that Jincheng has become hers, she can manage and renovate it better, making it easier for her to expand her business ambitions.

From now on, she will transform Jincheng into her own commercial paradise kingdom.

The current situation in Jincheng can be considered the beginning of a process of destruction and reconstruction.

The journey back to Jincheng was still along mountain roads, but we weren't in such a hurry to get back. It took us six days to cross mountains and valleys to finally return to Jincheng.

Yu Rong found the goods by following the marks left by his companions; the medicinal herbs filled a cart, but the people were nowhere to be found.

Jincheng was under lockdown, so carts were naturally not allowed to enter the city. As for how Yu Rong's companions managed to get the carts into the city, An Le didn't ask any further questions.

Where are they?

Yu Rong glanced around and then looked away.

"They might have gone down the mountain. Let's leave with the goods first, and leave them a secret signal to let them know we've been here."

Yu Rong picked up a few stones from the ground, arranged them into a shape under the cart, and then pulled the cart away with An Le.

Upon entering the town, passing by the clinic, we saw several porridge stalls set up in front of the clinic, distributing porridge, with many refugees lining up with bowls in their hands, waiting to receive the porridge.

Anle glanced at the bowl of medicinal porridge held by a child next to her, paused for a moment, and tugged at Yu Rong's sleeve.

Yu Rong, who was pulling the cart, paused and glanced down at An Le.

"There's porridge being distributed at the clinic. I'm going to take a look. Wait for me here," Anle said, and jogged towards the clinic.

The old doctor was busy brewing medicine in the back of the clinic, while in the front hall, there was only a young apprentice who looked about seven or eight years old, who didn't seem to be busy at all.

"Um... young man, where is your senior doctor here?"

"My master is busy brewing medicine in the back. I'll go and invite him over now."

Anle quickly stopped her, "No need, I just wanted to ask, why are these soup kitchens set up outside—"

Upon hearing this, the young apprentice grinned and said, "A high-ranking official came to the city last night. He ordered us to cook medicinal porridge here, set up a porridge kitchen, and provide relief to the refugees."

They brought in a lot of grain and medicinal herbs.

That's why they set up soup kitchens outside.

Master was worried that the medicines in the clinic's pharmacy were running out.

These high-ranking officials managed to procure so much grain and medicinal herbs that there was enough for everyone in our town to have access to medicine.

These high-ranking officials have such a brilliant idea! This medicinal porridge is both medicine and porridge; it's filling and therapeutic at the same time.

Anle: "..." What high-ranking official came up with this idea? It was clearly her idea!

However, the action was quite swift. Anle stared at the porridge stall outside the door with some surprise, a slight smile playing on her lips.

"Young man, do you know where this high-ranking official comes from?"

The young medicine boy shook his head.

"I don't know, but they've set up a disaster relief post near the government office. They said they'll be coming here to patrol every day starting today."

Anle blinked, smiled, and waved goodbye to the young medicine boy.

"Thank you for letting me know, sir."

Returning to Yu Rong's side, An Le muttered to herself.

"When you get back, after you put the cart down, hurry up and go to other towns to inquire about the situation and see if there are any disaster relief stations there. I heard they arrived last night."

Yu Rong glanced at the flags planted on the disaster relief tents. "These flags are indeed the flags of the Kingdom of Islaile."

It seems that King Islay had already begun preparing disaster relief resources the moment the agreement was reached.

Did it take five days to travel from the Kingdom of Islaile to Golden City via the official road? Yes, we certainly rushed here without wasting a moment.

Anle crossed his arms and smiled with satisfaction, "That's right, it concerns the survival of their Islaile Kingdom, they wouldn't dare to cheat or shirk their responsibilities."

As they talked, the two left the clinic and soon arrived at Paradise Dessert Shop.

"Dad, Mom, I'm back."

Seeing that the main gate of the house was open, Anle removed the crossbeam under the gate and let Yurong pull the medicinal herbs inside.

"Huh? Why is no one here? Could they be in the next yard?"

The backyard of Paradise Dessert Shop was originally two houses connected by a wall. After a moon gate was built, it was transformed into a large house.

If the person isn't in this house, then they must be in the house next door.

As Anle passed through the moon archway, she saw a group of children chasing each other and making a ruckus in the courtyard. Her mind went blank for a moment.

"Did I go to the wrong house?"

Anle paused for a moment when her gaze fell on a familiar little figure among the group of children, and then she heard Anning's joyful shout.

"Little sister? You're back?"

Anle looked a little stunned, pointing blankly at the several mischievous monkey children running and jumping in front of him.

"What's going on here? Where did all these children come from? If I hadn't seen my little brother, I would have thought I had entered the wrong house."

Ankang, who was playing with the other children, turned around when he heard this and rushed towards Anle with his bright eyes.

"Fifth Sister, Fifth Sister, it's Fifth Sister! Fifth Sister's home!"

Anle was knocked off balance by the little guy and almost fell over.

"Little brother, have you been a good boy at home? Have you been listening to your father?"

The little guy had rosy cheeks and kept nodding, tilting his head back and waiting for Anle's praise, looking like a good baby expecting a reward.

"Good girl, your fifth sister brought you something nice." Anle magically produced a kite in her hand.

Ankang looked at it with excitement and shouted, "It's a big bird, a big bird that can fly!"

Anle bared his teeth.

"Wow, my little brother is so smart! He even knows that this is a big bird that can fly."

An Ning was also delighted when she saw it, "Oh, it's a kite!"

They were all children in their early teens, still playful, so seeing kites was naturally novel to them. Even Anning had only ever seen the young masters and ladies of the town fly kites before.

But watching them fly kites, all I could do was envy them.

This was a novelty that poor children like them couldn't afford to play with; they could only watch others play with it.

But things are different now. Now that her family is well-off, they have some extra money and can afford to play with such things. However, she didn't think of kites for the moment.

"Fourth Sister, what's going on with this group of children?" Anle handed the kite to Ankang and patted Ankang's head. "Go play, sweetie."

Yu Rong, standing behind An Le, stared at An Le's mysterious behavior with deep confusion in his eyes.

She's always been with me, so when did this thing appear?

We were traveling along mountain roads and didn't encounter any vendors or anything, so it was impossible to buy anything on the way.

Anle, however, completely ignored the burning gaze coming from behind him, still fixated on these unfamiliar children.
