"Mancang family, what are you planning to do with these pigs and deer?"
"Of course they'll take them to town to sell. These pigs are still alive. If they're taken to town to sell, they'll be fresh and healthy."
"Oh my goodness, Mancang, how did you catch them? How did you manage to bring these wild boars back alive? And five of them at once? Did your ancestors' graves emit auspicious smoke or something?!"
"I have to say, the Mancang family really hit the jackpot!"
A crowd of onlookers gathered in the courtyard, some envious, some jealous, their words dripping with blatant sourness.
Anning wanted to come out and join the fun, but a crowd of people blocked the doorway, so she had to stay inside and excitedly asked Anning a bunch of questions.
"Second brother, how did you catch so many pigs?"
An Ding opened his mouth with a dazed look in his eyes, and said woodenly, "It was my little sister who caught it." She used the treasure bestowed by the gods and caught it in an instant.
That thing is a real treasure!
"What? It was really our little sister who caught it?"
"Um."
An Ning was stunned for a moment, then her face lit up with excitement. "I have to say, our little sister is really something now. With these five wild boars and this deer, our family is rich!"
"If we took this to the town, how much silver would we get for it?"
An Jing also smiled with delight, "No wonder our little sister insisted on going up the mountain yesterday."
Anle struggled to squeeze into the house from outside, raised her little head, and chuckled, "If this were converted into silver, my eldest sister, second brother, and fourth sister could all go to school."
Anning was moved to tears, hugged Anle and gave her a big kiss on the cheek, "Little sister, your fourth sister loves you so much." She never expected that her little sister would really keep her word and be able to go to school.
Anle wiped non-existent drool from her face with her sleeve with a look of disgust. "Fourth Sister, you're disgusting."
"Little sister, how come you're so amazing? Nobody in our village can catch this wild boar. It's fast and strong. One snout from it can cripple a person. You can't even run away when you see it."
"Fourth sister, my second brother and I brought back a litter of baby rabbits from the mountains. Could you find a place for them to be raised?"
While her adoptive father was down the mountain calling for help, she and her second brother found another litter of babies.
However, compared to the huge harvest of a sika deer and five wild boars, the impact of this litter of rabbits seemed particularly insignificant and had been overlooked.
An Ning was both surprised and delighted to hear this.
"What? There's a whole litter of baby rabbits?"
Anle nodded.
"Yes, I just put them in the side room. Fourth Sister, you should quickly find a place in the yard to build a nest. There are six of them, including the big ones and the five little ones."
An Ning frowned and glanced at the people blocking the doorway to watch the commotion.
"There's a bunch of onlookers outside, we can't get out."
In the courtyard, Qiao Qiuniang was serving sweet soup and tea to guests, while An Mancang and his cousins chatted with them. Occasionally, An Dafeng's hearty laughter could be heard, indicating that he was also quite happy.
"Oh, let's talk about it tonight then." Anle smiled and touched Ankang, who was staring at her with big, wet eyes and a curious look outside.
"Little brother, I'll let you play with the rabbit tonight!"
Ankang grinned, a piece of malt candy in his mouth. As he grinned, drool dripped from the corner of his mouth. "Playing with rabbit candy, playing with rabbit candy."
Anjing took a handkerchief and wiped Ankang's mouth.
“Mom was so happy today, she even gave my little brother a piece of candy. She usually doesn’t give me candy.”
An Ning grunted twice in dissatisfaction.
"Hmph, I get angry just thinking about this. She usually won't even let my little brother have a piece. I just saw Mom take two pieces out, she must have given them to Brother Antai."
Anjing blinked and asked, "Is Second Aunt here?"
An Ding nodded with a complicated expression.
"Yes, I see them. They're outside, and Grandpa and Grandma came over too."
An Ning muttered something.
"Second brother, don't call me so affectionately anymore. Our parents have been kicked out of the house and left with nothing."
Those are now Third Grandfather and Third Grandmother!
"Hmph, let them watch the show. It'll never become theirs anyway. Let those two old fogies watch with envy."
Anle sneered and suddenly uttered a sentence.
"He doesn't seem like someone who's here to watch the show."
An Ning was taken aback.
"Huh? What's wrong?"
Anle had a cool smile on her lips.
"When I came in just now, Third Grandma said that our family was able to get these wild boars and deer from the mountains because of An Manyan's good fortune."
"Huh?" An Ning stared in surprise, then sneered, "That old man said that?"
Anle grinned.
"Yes, that's what they say. I think that old bastard wants to get two pigs."
"Shameless old man!" An Ning gritted her teeth and cursed.
An Ding listened with a composed expression.
"With Grandpa here, they won't get the better of us. Grandpa will be back tonight."
The lively noise in the courtyard continued until it was almost dark before people dispersed.
Anjing and Anning were busy preparing dinner to entertain An Dafeng and An Daliang's family.
As soon as the meal was ready, An Dalin, along with An Yi, the grandfather and grandson, entered the yard, looking refreshed and radiant.
Upon seeing the five wild boars and one sika deer bound tightly in the yard, the proud grandfather and grandson stopped in their tracks, paused for a moment, and rubbed their eyes in unison.
