Chapter 122 Am I Your Biological Son? (Seeking Monthly Tickets)

“Zhang Cui must be feeling guilty, otherwise why would she keep telling Hong Lanlan to shut up?”

"I didn't quite believe it before, but now it seems to be true."

Discussions arose again from all around, with everyone taking sides against Zhang Cui.

Zhang Cui was unhappy, while Hong Lanlan looked at her smugly, with the air of a petty person who had achieved her goal.

Zhang Cui warned, "You'd better not spread this around the family compound. If my husband hears anything unfounded, I will pursue it to the end. If I'm not having a good time, no one else will be either."

Those around her were even more convinced that Zhang Cui was guilty.

Hong Lanlan chimed in, "You don't need to worry. If you don't want to say anything, I can. Just remember to come and watch the fun."

Zhang Cui glared at Hong Lanlan and retorted, "What exactly do you want?"

“I didn’t do anything, I just told your man what you’ve done, so he knows what kind of person you really are. After being married for so many years, he still doesn’t know anything about you, right?”

Hong Lanlan finally won a round and felt extremely happy.

"Stop talking nonsense. I'm not going to argue with you right now. I have things to take care of at home." Zhang Cui led Zhou Tianyu home.

Once she got home, Zhang Cui immediately closed and locked the door.

She felt uneasy. Hong Lanlan's words were largely exaggerated, but there were some things she couldn't refute.

That woman did indeed die, and she did indeed die while pregnant.

However, she didn't hang herself; she drowned in the small river in front of her house.

This incident was widely circulated in the village, with everyone saying that Zhang Cui, together with her lover, drove the other man to his death.

To sever ties with Zhang Cui, her family, especially her mother, threatened suicide, forbidding the two of them from having any contact.

Finally, Zhang Cui's mother declared in the village that if anyone spread rumors about this again, she would kill herself by crashing her head into their doorstep and disturbing their peace.

The matter was then suppressed. Later, Zhang Cui met Zhou Qiang, and they got married without any objections.

Later, she left the small mountain village and followed Zhou Qiang to the family compound.

But every year around the Qingming Festival, she would dream of that woman. She would come to her kneeling, her body soaking wet, her belly round, and her face swollen from being soaked in water, demanding her life.

Having no other choice, Zhang Cui had to take the paper money to the riverbank to burn it.

She was so scared that she couldn't help but mutter to herself, and coincidentally, Hong Lanlan, who was passing by on her way out, overheard what she said.

Hong Lanlan reassured her not to be afraid, as this had nothing to do with her.

Zhang Cui thought that since Hong Lanlan had already heard it, she also wanted to find someone to confide her secret to. If she kept it bottled up any longer, she was afraid she would become mentally ill.

So she poured out the secrets she had kept hidden in her heart like beans spilling out.

After Zhang Cui finished speaking, she told Hong Lanlan not to tell anyone, and Hong Lanlan agreed.

They became very close and got along very well for a period of time afterward.

It wasn't until Xu Qingmo's house was robbed that Zhang Cui took her anger out on Hong Lanlan, and the two completely broke off their relationship.

Zhang Cui wasn't afraid of anything else, but she was afraid that Zhou Qiang would find out about this. She hadn't figured out how to explain it to him yet.

"Mom, is everything Hong Lanlan said true?" Zhou Tianyu couldn't help but ask curiously.

Zhang Cui was already irritable, and upon hearing Zhou Tianyu's voice, she became even angrier.

She felt that if Zhou Tianyu hadn't been running around recklessly, none of this would have happened, and Hong Lanlan wouldn't have revealed it.

Unable to vent her anger, Zhang Cui turned her gaze to Zhou Tianyu.

"Kneel down!" Zhang Cui roared, and Zhou Tianyu reluctantly knelt on the ground.

Zhang Cui picked up a broom and hit his buttocks hard several times.

Zhou Tianyu's eyes were red, he felt wronged and extremely resentful.

"Mom, why are you always so mean to me? Am I not your own son?"

Zhang Cui raised the broom in her hand and hit his buttocks hard a few more times.

"Tell me, am I your biological mother or not?"

How would I know?

"You little brat, I've been taking good care of you, feeding you well and treating you well. I never expected you to say such things now. Doesn't your conscience hurt?"

Zhang Cui was furious. Zhou Tianyu's expression changed slightly as he watched Zhang Cui about to take out other things to serve him.

Zhou Tianyu immediately surrendered, "Mom, you are my own mother. What I just said was wrong. I know I was wrong. Please don't be angry."

Zhang Cui then withdrew her hand, bursting into tears of anger.

Zhou Tianyu stood aside, at a loss. He hadn't cried much even after being beaten like that, so why was Zhang Cui crying?

"You probably think I'm a bad mother now, that I hit you so hard, but I didn't want to do this to you either."

“If you don’t want to treat me like this, just stop hitting me,” Zhou Tianyu said seriously.

"Who told you to make me angry? It's only right that I hit you," Zhang Cui said.

Zhou Tianyu remained silent, but Zhang Cui continued, "Can't you be a little more sensible in the future? Don't disturb the whole residential compound all the time?"

Zhou Tianyu said with dissatisfaction, "It's not just me who's caused a stir in the family compound. Now the whole compound is talking about you."

His whispered words reached Zhang Cui's ears without missing a single one.

She realized with alarm that if things continued this way, the news would surely reach Zhou Qiang's ears very quickly.

Zhang Cui stared intently at the person in front of her. "If your father comes home, you must not tell him about this. If you want this family to live well, don't do such a foolish thing."

Zhou Tianyu protested, "Why can other people in the family compound say it, but I can't? You beat me when I do something wrong, but I have to keep Mom's mistakes a secret. Isn't that too much to ask?"

Zhang Cui glared angrily, "What, you want me to get beaten up too?"

"No, I didn't mean that," Zhou Tianyu said softly.

Zhang Cui snorted, "I think that's exactly what you're thinking, you little brat. I might as well tell you, if this gets to your father's ears, he and I will most likely get divorced, and I won't be able to stay by your side anymore, let alone do your laundry and cook for you."

Zhou Tianyu fell silent; he clearly understood Wang Xiaohu's current predicament.

He doesn't want to become someone everyone hates.

Although he is being beaten now, Zhang Cui will still step in to help him regain his footing when trouble arises.

"Mom, don't worry, I won't tell Dad about this."

"You're such a good son, I've never spoiled you for nothing."

"Mom, my butt hurts, I want to eat meat."

Zhang Cui thought for a moment, "I'll go get some pork. I'll make you pork and scallion dumplings today, okay?"

Zhou Tianyu's eyes lit up. "Really? Can we really eat this well today?"

Zhang Cui patted his head. "Of course you can."

"Since your family eats so well, why don't you take me with you?"
