"Now that you've already smelled it, can we leave now?"
"Can you not be so heartless? We all grew up in the same compound. Can't you let us in for a bite to eat? We're so hungry we don't have the energy to go home." Song Wei gave Zhou Tianyu a look and squeezed into the house first.
The table was set with steaming hot food, each dish exquisitely prepared, resembling the kind of food only found in state-run restaurants.
"Wow, your family eats so well!" Song Wei's eyes practically popped out.
Lu Ting caught up and made a gesture to tell them to leave, "Our family has always eaten so well, but that has nothing to do with you. We're going to eat, can you please leave now?"
"I'll just watch from the side. You guys eat your food and don't worry about me." Song Wei felt like he was getting a good deal even if he only got to see a few glimpses of the food.
Actually, he had other ideas in mind. If Xu Qingmo's family couldn't stand it, they would definitely give him a bowl of rice, and he could then eat there without any problem.
"We can't eat while you're here watching, so hurry up and leave," Lu Ting said, still trying to shoo them away.
"I really won't bother you, please let me stay here," Song Wei pleaded.
Zhou Tianyu stood at the door looking troubled. He wanted to go in, but couldn't find a reason to do so.
As he hesitated, he saw a figure walking towards him. When the figure got closer, he could see clearly that it was Song Wei's mother, Liu Guiying.
It was already lunchtime, but Liu Guiying still hadn't seen Song Wei come home. She went out and looked around, and saw Zhou Tianyu standing at Xu Qingmo's door. She went up to ask him.
As soon as Liu Guiying arrived at Xu Qingmo's door, she saw Song Wei being dragged away by Lu Ting.
Liu Guiying was immediately displeased and went straight into the house, pushing Lu Ting aside.
Lu Ting staggered a couple of steps before regaining his balance. Liu Guiying's grip was very strong; if he hadn't been working out to strengthen his body recently, he probably would have fallen to the ground.
Liu Guiying looked at the people sitting at the table and immediately showed displeasure. "I say, you people are really heartless. You're eating and you don't even think to let my Song Wei stay for a bite. Are you afraid of eating your family out of house and home?"
Liu Guiying's words were harsh, and Xu Qingmo certainly didn't like hearing them.
Xu Qingmo retorted, "Am I that familiar with your family? Why are you letting Song Wei stay here for dinner? You should know what he's done before, right?"
Everyone else present knew what had happened, except for Zhang Yan.
Zhang Yan asked curiously, "What have you been doing before?"
Liu Guiying was worried that the matter would get out, so she immediately interrupted, "Children are bound to make mistakes because they don't know any better, but people can't always look back. They need to look forward to broaden their minds. Xu Qingmo, it's wrong of you to keep dwelling on the past."
"I'm just a five-year-old girl. You should be an adult making these unreasonable demands of me. You did the right thing."
Liu Guiying choked, and Song Wei, not wanting to involve Liu Guiying in this matter, took the initiative to speak up, "I didn't intend to eat your food. I was just playing around for a while. There's no need to keep chasing me away. It's so disrespectful."
Xu Qingmo retorted, "What contributions have you made to our family? Why should we take you seriously?"

Lu Ting felt a sweet warmth in his heart after being suddenly praised.
Lu Ting chimed in, "Song Wei and Zhou Tianyu cheated on us at our house before. Many people in the compound know about it. Instead of taking them back to discipline them, you let them keep coming to our house. What are you up to?"
What Liu Guiying had been trying to cover up was casually revealed by Lu Ting.
In an instant, she felt a burning sensation on her face.
Liu Guiying immediately retorted angrily, "Stop talking nonsense! My child would never do such things. It's all Wang Xiaohu and Zhou Tianyu who led him astray."
Zhou Tianyu found it unpleasant to hear and immediately retorted, "It was clearly Song Wei and Wang Xiaohu who brought me here together. I even advised them not to do this at first. Why are you now putting all the blame on me?"

Xu Qingmo pushed one of them with each hand, directly shooing them out the door.
Liu Guiying wanted to say something more, but as soon as she turned around, she saw the door being closed.
The mother and daughter were turned away.
Liu Guiying wasn't really going against Xu Qingmo's family; after all, she couldn't fight city hall. In front of so many people, she had to stand up for herself and not let them look down on her.
Now that they were out of sight of Xu Qingmo's house, she gradually regained her composure.
He slapped Song Wei on the head. "Look at you, why don't you go home so late at night? What are you doing at Xu Qingmo's house? You're making a fool of yourself."
"The food at Xu Qingmo's house smelled so good that I couldn't resist going over."
Did they give you a bite to eat?
"No." Mentioning this matter made Song Wei feel that his family was being too stingy.

He silently followed Liu Guiying home.
Meanwhile, Zhou Tianyu deliberately covered his face as he went home, and Zhang Cui noticed something was wrong as soon as he entered the door.
"Why are you only just getting home? What happened to your face? Why are you covering your face?" Zhang Cui asked curiously.
Zhou Tianyu covered his face, unwilling to say more, "I'm not hungry today, so I won't eat. I'll go back to my room and sleep first."
"Wait a minute." Zhang Cui called out to Zhou Tianyu and impulsively stepped forward to remove his hand.
