Chapter 70 Mentioning Divorce Every Now and Then (Seeking Monthly Tickets)
"I really didn't steal the clothes. Why doesn't anyone believe me? Get out of here. I don't want to see you."
Immediately afterwards, Zhou Haihong was pushed out the door, and Hong Lanlan closed the door.
Aunt Chunhua happened to be free, so she went over to ask what had happened.
Zhou Haihong sighed, "Song Cuiping told me about Hong Lanlan stealing clothes. I came over to ask about the situation, but I didn't expect Hong Lanlan to be so emotional. Not only did she refuse to say anything to me, she also kicked me out. It's really hard for me to be a good person."
Aunt Chunhua glanced at the tightly closed door and whispered, "Hong Lanlan almost drowned yesterday. Song Cuiping sent you here at this time. She's really carefree."
Zhou Haihong looked at the person in front of her in disbelief, "Is what you're saying true?"
"Of course it's true, but you weren't in the family compound yesterday, so you didn't hear about it. It's not your fault, blame Song Cuiping for keeping things from you," Aunt Chunhua said.
Zhou Haihong shook her head, feeling very guilty.
"It's my fault, it's all my fault. I went to Hong Lanlan's house to question her without understanding the situation. It's understandable that she kicked me out."
"You don't need to blame yourself too much, this has nothing to do with you."
"I'll wait until she calms down before I go to apologize to her." Zhou Haihong glanced at Hong Lanlan's house; the door was still tightly closed.
Aunt Chunhua pulled Zhou Haihong aside and whispered, "This Hong Lanlan is no pushover either. She took my number tag and went to Xu Qingmo's house to cook. She even deliberately spoke ill of me in front of the mother and daughter, which is why none of them gave me a friendly look when I went to see Wang Jing and the others today."
Although I didn't hear Hong Lanlan say anything bad about her, judging from Wang Jing and Xu Qingmo's behavior, they must have been spoken ill of.
Furthermore, when the clothes that Song Cuiping's family had stolen appeared at Hong Lanlan's house, Aunt Chunhua's impression of Hong Lanlan worsened.
"Hong Lanlan wouldn't talk badly about me behind my back, would she?" Zhou Haihong didn't think too badly of her.
Aunt Chunhua began to speak eloquently, "She has a sharp tongue. Other couples were living happily together, but she went around saying that they were getting a divorce. Song Cuiping and she fell out because of this. Also, the injury on her face was caused by Song Cuiping scratching her."
Zhou Haihong found all of this fascinating.
"I never expected that something like this would happen in this residential compound after I only went to town for one night."
"This is a complicated matter. In short, you shouldn't mess with someone like Hong Lanlan. It's safer to stay away from her," Aunt Chunhua said.
Zhou Haihong was somewhat embarrassed, "But I promised to ask Song Cuiping about the situation, and I can't go back on my word."
"Song Cuiping is a talkative woman, so don't worry about her. It won't do you any good."
Zhou Haihong just smiled and didn't reply.
Aunt Chunhua glanced at the height of the sun and said, "I'll stop here for now. I'm going home to mend the child's pants."
After seeing Aunt Chunhua off, Zhou Haihong also went home.
Not long after I entered the house, Song Cuiping rushed over in a great hurry.
Zhou Haihong recounted what had happened.
Song Cuiping sighed, "It seems that Hong Lanlan doesn't want to compensate me, but she can't escape it. I have to make her give me the money."
Zhou Haihong said, "I noticed that Hong Lanlan doesn't look well, so let's wait a couple of days before going."
“She’s a really bad person. She’s even willing to jump into the river to avoid paying compensation. I can’t let her scheme succeed.”
"Oh, you're leaving already?" Zhou Haihong wanted to say something more, but Song Cuiping had already left her house.
Like a gust of wind, it comes and goes as it pleases.
Nothing particularly noteworthy happened in the family compound for the next two days.
On the afternoon of the third day, Daya suddenly ran to Xu Qingmo's house, her eyes red, and asked Wang Jing to come and help her.
Wang Jing couldn't bear to see the child cry, so she immediately followed.
Xu Qingmo was worried about Wang Jing, so she went over as well.
As soon as I arrived at Song Cuiping's house, I heard the sound of arguing coming from inside.
Song Cuiping retorted angrily, "I already said I'd handle this matter of the clothes, why are you stopping me? Did Hong Lanlan drug you?"
"Let's not dwell on the clothes; just pretend we never bought them."
"You make it sound so easy. I sewed all those fabrics myself, stitch by stitch. It cost money and took a lot of my time. You wanted to divorce me because I lost my clothes. Didn't you see how much I suffered?"
Song Cuiping grew angrier as she spoke. She resented Du Jun for only seeing Hong Lanlan jump into the river, but not for noticing that she had stayed up all night for several nights.
"Alright, that's enough. Go cook and let's pretend this never happened." Du Jun repeated his previous words.
Song Cuiping shook off his hand, "Impossible! I must make Hong Lanlan compensate me for my clothes."
"Song Cuiping, don't go too far. I've been very lenient with you. Don't push your luck." Du Jun snapped.
"What? Am I going to ask for money for clothes to go home for the good of this family? Da Ya finally got a new set of clothes, but it was stolen. Now that we've found out who stole it, you pretend to be the good guy and not investigate, while I'll be the bad guy."
"If you dare to go, our marriage is over," Du Jun growled at Song Cuiping.
Song Cuiping paused, staring at Du Jun in disbelief.
"Fine, you've wanted a divorce from me for a long time, haven't you? You've brought it up every now and then lately." Song Cuiping's eyes reddened with grievance.
Du Jun remained silent.
Er Ya cried on the side, trying to stop Song Cuiping and Du Jun from arguing.
Daya brought Wang Jing home, hoping she could persuade them to stop arguing.
As soon as Wang Jing entered the room, Song Cuiping immediately turned her back and wiped away her tears.
Du Jun asked in confusion, "Wang Jing? What brings you here?"
Wang Jing drives for the military. Du Jun has met her a few times. Everyone else in the military praises Shen Jiang for being so lucky, finally marrying the person he wanted to marry after being single for so long.
Looking at the mess in the room, Wang Jing saw Daya emerge from behind her, looking timidly at Du Jun.
Du Jun instantly understood what was happening and sighed silently.
"I heard you two had a fight and were even talking about divorce over clothes. Isn't that too impulsive?" Wang Jing asked.
Before Du Jun could speak, Song Cuiping said, "If he wants a divorce, then let him get one. Don't think I can't live without him."
Du Jun didn't reply, his expression serious.
Wang Jing could tell that Du Jun didn't want a divorce either.
Perhaps he blurted out the topic of divorce in the heat of the moment.
"Song Cuiping, don't say hurtful things. Your quarrel with your husband is making the child restless. It's not a big deal. Once you talk it out and resolve it, it will be over." Wang Jing tried her best to persuade the two of them to come together.
Song Cuiping stubbornly insisted, "I didn't say anything in anger."
Du Jun tried to soften his stance, but Song Cuiping didn't give him the chance.
"Tell me, when are you going to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get the divorce certificate? I'll accompany you to the end!" This time, Song Cuiping was determined to get a divorce.
