Chapter 27: Two front teeth fell out (Seeking monthly votes)

The villagers of Xujia Village quickly gathered at the door of the barefoot doctor's house.

Er Gou died a horrible death; his head was split open, blood flowed everywhere, and he died from excessive blood loss.

The onlookers pointed and whispered, some out of fear, others speculating about the origins of the rumors.

Many people believe that Xu Hongbo couldn't stand the humiliation and, taking advantage of Er Gou's inability to move, broke into the barefoot doctor's house and deliberately killed him.

Some say that Er Gou had offended many people, and that some people might have harbored resentment towards him and wanted to take advantage of his illness to kill him.

But some people don't understand why Er Gou is in such a hurry to be killed when he's practically a cripple and won't have a good life for the rest of his days.

The crowd discussed it amongst themselves, but no one could come to a definitive conclusion.

The bedroom door opened, and the barefoot doctor walked out of the room. Everyone in the room suddenly saw him, and someone shouted, "Run! The barefoot doctor has been infected with rabies. Xu Guangcai's grandson died from this disease, and his son is about to die too. This shows that this disease can kill people."

Everyone's expression changed, and they all ran outside.

Some ran too slowly and were pushed and shoved by the people behind them. They accidentally fell to the ground and were trampled by the people behind them as they left.

For a time, cries of agony filled the air.

The barefoot doctor was conscious and felt much better.

He took his pulse and found that all the toxins in his body were gone.

That's really strange.

Was it all a dream?

The barefoot doctor looked closely at the wound on his shoulder and was surprised to find that the wound had been bandaged, and that the place where the skin had just fallen off yesterday only had a faint pain.

Who bandaged his wound?

The sound of a child crying came from the yard. The child, a few years old, lay on the ground, having lost the courage to run away.

The adults left the barefoot doctor's house and stood outside watching what was happening inside.

The barefoot doctor approached the children in the yard, while the people outside deliberately shouted loudly to scare him.

"Don't go near the child! You have a disease and you can't pass it on to the child!"

"Have you lost your conscience? Get out of here!"

"Don't move, don't go any further, that's enough."

The adults only dared to stand there and shout, and few dared to step forward and snatch the child away.

The barefoot doctor waved his hand, "I won't hurt them, don't worry."

Some villagers picked up stones from the ground and threw them at the barefoot doctor.

The others followed suit, picking up whatever they could and throwing it at him.

Grandma Wang, standing in the crowd, also picked up a stone and threw it forcefully at the barefoot doctor.

Thump! A large bump appeared on the barefoot doctor's forehead.

Immediately afterwards, his body was smashed so badly that there wasn't a single patch of unscathed flesh.

These people used to be sick and helpless, and they came to him begging him to save their lives.

Whether rich or poor, barefoot doctors would lend a helping hand.

He practiced medicine in Xujia Village for more than 20 years, and almost everyone in the village benefited from his services.

At that moment, those people revealed their claws and fangs, fiercely driving him away.

Xu Qingmo watched all this from a distance. She had never had a good impression of the people in this village before, and now she looked down on them even more.

She was about to leave when the porcelain vase in her hand caught her attention.

After all, the barefoot doctor had treated her, and Xu Qingmo felt guilty that he was leaving like this.

Why does such a small five-year-old have so much compassion?

With a huffy little face, Xu Qingmo shouted at the group to stop, "Stop smashing! The person inside wasn't infected with rabies at all."

The villagers were taken aback and stopped what they were doing.

They were familiar with the name Xu Qingmo, especially recently, the story of her killing a wild boar with her bare hands and dragging it back down the mountain had been spread like wildfire.

Some say she was possessed by a mountain spirit, others say she was chosen by the mountain god and adopted as his goddaughter, and still others say she was a little fairy born in the first place.

But no one dared to verify it.

Grandma Wang was smashing the eggs with great enthusiasm. When she saw Xu Qingmo stepping forward to help the barefoot doctor, she still harbored resentment towards Xu Qingmo. If Xu Qingmo had let her stay there to cook, her grandson wouldn't have taken the eggs away, and none of what happened afterward would have occurred.

They hadn't had a chance to cause trouble for Xu Qingmo yet, simply because they hadn't gotten their money's worth from the barefoot doctor.

At that moment, Xu Qingmo took the initiative to come over, and Grandma Wang turned around halfway and threw the largest stone in her hand at Xu Qingmo.

The stone was almost half the size of Xu Qingmo's face, and Grandma Wang was deliberately being mischievous.

Xu Qingmo opened her small hands and caught the flying stone, shocking everyone.

Xu Qingmo swung the stone in her hand at Grandma Wang, knocking out one of her front teeth.

Grandma Wang spat her bloody tooth onto the ground, her eyes wide with shock.

"You naughty girl, you knocked out my teeth! I won't let you get away with this!"

Grandma Wang impulsively stepped forward, disregarding everything else.

On the contrary, with his son and grandson about to pass away, this old body is of no use anymore.

Even if you manage to drag a jinx down with you before you die, it's not a complete loss.

Anyway, the barefoot doctor has already been infected with rabies and will die sooner or later.

Xu Qingmo deliberately hooked a stone next to her with her foot, grabbed it in mid-air, and then forcefully threw the stone at Grandma Wang.

Grandma Wang spat out another mouthful of blood, and another front tooth fell to the ground.

Xu Qingmo warned, "If you dare to step forward again, I'll smash a hole in your forehead."

Grandma Wang paused, and for some reason, she felt a sense of fear towards the little girl not far away.

Xu Qingmo continued walking forward with the porcelain bottle, passing by Grandma Wang, whose eyes were fixed on her.

Xu Qingmo suddenly threw a pebble from her hand, hitting Grandma Wang in the right eye.

Grandma Wang covered her eyes in pain.

"You wretched girl, you'll die a horrible death! I'll curse you forever."

Xu Qingmo paused, amused. "Too many people have cursed me to die. Who do you think you are? Get in line at the back."

The villagers witnessed all of this and were so frightened that they all retreated, and no one dared to provoke Xu Qingmo.

Xu Qingmo entered the room and handed the porcelain bottle to the barefoot doctor.

"Drink up, I'm waiting to go back and eat meat." Perhaps because she had eaten too much wild boar meat, she found wolf meat quite delicious as well.

Especially when sprinkled with Sichuan peppercorns, it has a strong numbing and spicy flavor, which she inexplicably likes.

The barefoot doctor was taken aback and asked curiously, "Did you bandage my wounds?"

"Hmm..." Xu Qingmo responded casually.

The barefoot doctor, agitated, hurriedly asked, "Was it you who cleansed the toxins from my body?"

Xu Qingmo picked at her ear, looking disgusted. "I'm young, I don't understand what you're saying. Just drink it."

The barefoot doctor didn't ask much about what was in the porcelain bottle, only that it was drinkable. He took the bottle, opened the lid, and drank the spiritual spring water inside.

After drinking it, he immediately felt much lighter, and even the places where he had been hit no longer hurt.

That's really strange!

"You...you...you must be a little deity!"
