Feng was originally waiting for Jiang Mingzhi to go crazy and make a fuss, but now he came back from making tea in good health. Just as she was thinking about what to do next, Jiang started to make a fuss. It was a coincidence.
"Mingzhi has been weak since she was young, so naturally I have to pamper her. I say, sister-in-law, if this child does anything wrong, you should bear with her!"
When Feng said this, she deliberately raised her voice a few notches, attracting the attention of the officials and their wives around her.
"Take responsibility?" Madam Jiang sneered, pointing at Jiang Mingzhi and saying, "Look at her. How can she even look at you, her stepmother, and me, her aunt? She clearly has shortcomings, so she should be more humble and enterprising. But she relies on being Madam Wang's granddaughter to act so arrogantly and look down on others. I must teach her a lesson today! This unruly little bitch is even rebelling!"
Jiang Mingzhi was still sitting in his seat, holding a bowl of Chunshui rice wine dumplings calmly and enjoying it by himself.
She didn't mind the commotion at her ex-husband's wedding banquet, but she really didn't want to pay any attention to someone like Madam Jiang who was so arrogant and successful.
"Madam Jiang, what you said is ridiculous!" Qingtang saw that the young lady had no intention of paying attention to Madam Jiang, so he retorted: "You keep saying that our young lady has no rules, but I wonder what Madam Jiang's rules are?"
"You dare to say that to me?" Madam Jiang laughed in anger. She looked around and saw that everyone around her was whispering and laughing. She felt even more stuffy in her chest. She glared at Qingtang, wishing she could bite her to death.
"Our eldest daughter is at least the daughter of a marquis. She's noble, and even if she's getting married to your family, that's decided by the adults. What does it have to do with our daughter? Besides, our daughter hasn't married yet. The marquis' wife is in charge. When will it be Madam Jiang's turn to worry about it?"
Qingtang has always been eloquent and speaks in an orderly manner, so Jiang Mingzhi was very relieved. When he said this, many people nodded in approval.
This is indeed true. The Jiang family has only produced a fourth-rank minister. How can they be so bold as to threaten to scold the daughter of the marquis? Her parents are here, so when will it be her turn?
Seeing that her sister-in-law was trapped in the fire and couldn't get out of it, Feng coughed twice and then slowly stood up.
"You cunning servant, you're usually fine in the mansion, but now you're so cunning outside! The master hasn't even spoken yet, and you've already finished your words. I wouldn't mind a few words of backtalk, but your young lady is going to get married in the future. Wouldn't it be a joke to be so defiant and disobedient?"
These words were said half-heartedly, but they made sense to the ears of the listener.
After Jiang Mingzhi finished a bowl of dumplings, he stood up slowly and bowed to both Feng and Madam Jiang.
When everyone saw this, their eyes all fell on the young lady of the brocade-robed marquis's family.
Jiang Mingzhi had a polite and light smile on her face, and she opened her red lips slightly: "Madam, there is no need to be like this. If you treat me well, I will naturally remember it in my heart and be grateful. I will repay you for the rest of my life. But there are gods above our heads, and whether they are good or bad, only time will tell." These words just blocked Feng's words.
"Madam Jiang, you are a relative of the Feng family, so naturally I respect you. Otherwise, I wouldn't have personally made tea as you instructed. It's not easy for women in the inner house, so why would you be so hostile to me, an orphan without a mother to protect me?"
When Feng heard the words "there's a god above my head," her heart sank. Then she thought, if there really was a god above my head, how could she still be standing here alive? She was almost frightened by these words.
Listening to Jiang Mingzhi's slow and steady speech, seemingly nonchalant but every word was thought-provoking, Feng took a deep breath, thinking that this damn girl seemed to be different from what she thought. What went wrong?
Seeing that there were more and more voices pointing and talking at them, Feng knew that now was not a good time to deal with this little bitch, so she winked at her sister-in-law.
Jiang was being roasted on the fire. She had never been treated like this before! Who in the Feng family didn't listen to her? Now, she was being humiliated by a motherless bitch!
But Feng insisted on pulling her to sit down and not letting her get angry again. Madam Jiang thought that Jiang Mingzhi would soon get married, and if he fell into her hands, she would have the final say on whether to beat or kill him, so she gave up.
"There will always be a chance to deal with you, don't be so arrogant too early, little bitch!" She lowered her voice and cursed angrily, but Qingtang still heard it.
Qingtang was about to retort, but Jiang Mingzhi gave her a look and she had to swallow the words back.
Apart from this little episode, the wedding banquet at Prince Jin's Mansion went very smoothly.
When Marquis Jinyi and his companions returned, they brought back a piece of news for Feng: "I don't know why, but the young master of the palace was crying and making a fuss in the hall, saying that the concubine had killed his mother."
These words were spoken in a low voice, but Jiang Mingzhi heard them clearly. Thinking of seeing Ce'er crying in the main courtyard just now, and hearing Jiang Rongqing's words now, her heart suddenly tightened.
Ce'er was only ten years old. How could he know that he was murdered by Bai Huiniang and Chu Jincheng? Could it be that someone was behind this?
There were no other concubines in the palace, and she couldn't imagine who would do this.
"Prince Jin was deeply affectionate and loyal. When his princess passed away, he was so heartbroken that he fell ill. Now his mansion is in dire need of a mistress, so he hurriedly married Miss Bai." Jiang Rongqing couldn't help but sigh as he spoke of this, "It's true that even the days grow old!"
Jiang Mingzhi almost spit out her tea. She had never heard anything more ridiculous!
How can the murderer who killed his original wife have the nerve to say such shameless words?
Her thoughts were occupied by other things, but she didn't notice that Madam Jiang, who had returned to her seat, was staring at her sinisterly.
