Chapter 389: Unrepentant

Seeing Bei Ming's indifference, the smile on his eldest brother's face froze. He nervously tugged at the corner of his clothes, licked his lips, and then said, "Bei Ming, are you back to visit Dad this time? He has been ill for a long time. I wanted to call you, but Dad wouldn't let me go find you."

Bei Ming's heart tightened when he heard his elder brother say that his father had been ill for a long time, but he did not show it. Instead, he sneered and said, "Yes, I knew something happened to him, so I came back to see if he was dead!"

Bei Ming's eldest brother's expression changed, the smile on his face froze at the corner of his mouth, and finally the slightly raised arc flattened.

He looked at Bei Ming angrily and said, "If you came back just to say these sarcastic words, please leave. You are not welcome here!"

"Just go, who cares?"

Bei Ming also got angry and turned around to leave.

At this time, the sound of Old Man Bei coughing violently was heard in the room, and it seemed as if his lungs were about to be coughed out.

"Is Bei Ming back? Bei Ming..." Old Man Bei said while coughing violently.

Bei Ming's eldest brother looked at Bei Ming and pleaded in a low voice, "Dad won't be alive for long. I know we've done a lot of bad things. I don't ask for your forgiveness, I just hope you can go in and see him and talk to him."

Bei Ming frowned as he listened to Old Man Bei's violent coughing, but he did not move his feet.

He thought for a moment and pulled out a purse from his waist: "Here's some money, use it to buy medicine for him." Bei Ming paused and said, "I'll send someone to help you pay off your gambling debts later."

Big Brother Bei Ming's face lit up with joy. He said, "You are willing to do this. Does it mean that you are willing to forgive us?"

"Forgive?" Bei Ming sneered and said, "You may forget what you did, but I cannot, and I don't intend to forgive you.

But this was my mother's last wish, and I just didn't want her to be unhappy if she knew about it."

Bei Ming couldn't believe his elder brother, because he was the one who sold his wife and daughter for gambling money.

He is even less human than his father!

So he didn't give the money to his elder brother but went to pay it back himself.

"Don't think I'll always pay off your debts. I'm only helping you this once. If you continue gambling in the future, whether you live or die has nothing to do with me."

"I dare not, I dare not gamble anymore." A glimmer of light flashed in Bei Ming's eldest brother's eyes.

Bei Ming threw the purse to his eldest brother and left without looking back.

As soon as he left the house, the toughness on his face disappeared and he became very depressed.

He felt that his eldest brother was a pervert. If his father could still move, he would definitely go to the gambling house with the money.

He was very disappointed with them, but he had not completely given up, so he came back this time. If they really repented, he would not really ignore them.

But he knew from his elder brother's expression that he had no intention of changing.

When he reached the entrance of the alley, he saw Nanfeng waiting for him from afar. The moment he saw Nanfeng, his cold heart began to warm up again.

He, Nanfeng and the eldest brother have depended on each other for so many years, and he has long regarded them as a family.

As long as they are around, he feels at ease.

Before Bei Ming reached Nan Feng, the door of the house at the corner of the alley suddenly opened, and the uncle who had gone to the White Wolf Alliance to find Bei Ming walked out.

When the uncle saw Bei Ming, he stopped him excitedly and said, "I told you that you would come back to see your father. Why don't you stay home and take care of him?"

Bei Ming glanced at the uncle calmly and said, "No need, I just came back to see if he was dead." Seeing the uncle's face change, Bei Ming had no intention of stopping. He said to the uncle, "If they have anything in the future, they don't need to tell me, I don't need to know."

"Why are you so stubborn, kid? There's no way a father and son would hold a grudge overnight." The uncle said helplessly.

"You don't have to say more. I have made up my mind. Don't meddle in my business." Bei Ming said.

The uncle was also annoyed. He was just a neighbor and he had to help out when he saw something he couldn't stand. But he couldn't do anything if they didn't want to listen: "Forget it, these are your family affairs, and I, an outsider, really can't interfere.

Anyway, I have tried my best, you can do whatever you want."

After saying that, the uncle walked into the house and slammed the door.

Nanfeng walked over, patted the depressed Bei Ming on the shoulder, and dragged him away.

"Let's go eat roast chicken." Nanfeng said.

He knew that no matter how many words of comfort he said, they would not be as good as a delicious meal for Bei Ming.

Bei Ming wanted to say that he had no appetite, but then he remembered the rule between the three of them: whenever someone suggested going to the old place to eat roast chicken, the others were not allowed to object.

Bei Ming had no choice but to respond: "Okay then."

"Let's go back first and steal some of the good wine that the boss left behind." Nanfeng said.

Bei Ming paused for a moment. He looked at Nan Feng deeply, raised the corner of his mouth slightly, and replied, "Okay."

Nanfeng hasn't touched Xie Yunjiao's wine since he got hungover all day. He must have suggested drinking today just to keep her company.

Nanfeng is really his good brother, what reason does he have to refuse?

He thought it would be even better if the boss was here at this time.

"Is Bei Ming back?" Bei Ming's father looked at his elder brother Bei Ming with expectation and looked behind him while speaking.

A glimmer flashed in Big Brother Bei Ming's eyes, and he said to Old Man Bei: "No, you heard it wrong."

Old Man Bei looked deeply at Big Brother Bei Ming, but Big Brother Bei Ming's eyes flickered and he didn't dare to look at Old Man Bei at all.

Old Man Bei suddenly laughed, and while laughing he began to cough violently: "What a sin, it's all my fault, cough cough cough..."

Suddenly, Old Man Bei coughed violently and vomited blood, and his complexion became much worse than before.

He paused for a moment before speaking to Big Brother Bei Ming, "I'm sorry, Dad. I was always thinking about making a profit, and since I saw you had talent in this area, I brought you in. I never thought you would become so obsessed with it.

Forget it, someone like me has done so many wrong things, and in the end, I will not have a good ending.

Do whatever you like, but don't regret it on your deathbed like me."

As he spoke, Old Man Bei suddenly sat up and slammed his head against the wall with a bang. A big hole was created on his head and blood gushed out.

By the time Brother Bei Ming reacted, Old Man Bei had already died.

Big Brother Bei Ming held the purse tightly in his arms and cried bitterly over Old Man Bei's body, "Dad!"

When Bei Ming learned of Bei Lao's death, he was drinking with Nan Feng. The wine glass in his hand suddenly loosened, and the glass fell to the ground, scattering the mellow aroma all over the floor.

He stared blankly at the fragments on the ground, lost in thought.
