Chapter 102 My Sister Isn't My Sister

Just as Wen Yi was about to step forward, a servant hurriedly came over and said, "Second Madam, the Second Master is waiting for you in the study."

Wen glanced at the maid beside her, then couldn't help but look towards Xiao Lan.

Xiao Lan had already carried Ruan Ruan upstairs and into the room.

Even if Wen Yi found it strange, there was no point in chasing after her now, so she simply ignored it and replied to the servant, "I understand."

She went to the study.

I don't know what that second master wants with me.

However, after marrying into the Royal Garden, things weren't as terrible as she had imagined, nor were they as difficult as she had thought. In fact, Wen Yi felt somewhat fortunate and grateful.

I'm grateful that at least that second master treated me kindly.

Thinking of this, Wen Yi felt a bit of sneer.

She went to the study and knocked on the door.

Only after receiving a response from inside did Wen Yi push the door open and enter.

This was the first time Wen Yi had entered the Second Master's study. The entire study was decorated in a retro-style modern Chinese style, with bookshelves built into the walls and filled with books of all kinds.

Wen Yi's first impression upon entering was that the study had a particularly heavy intellectual atmosphere, which was not at all like the style of this second master.

In Wen Yi's mind, this Second Master should be a tyrant-like figure, with rude and ruthless behavior, and completely devoid of knowledge and wisdom.

However, Wen Yi felt relieved.

Before she married into the Imperial Garden, there were rumors that it was like a haunted house, but in reality, the Imperial Garden was very bright and cheerful, and the people there were as lovely as Ruan Ruan.

Wen Yi didn't know what state she was in with everything in the Imperial Garden now, but in short, she wasn't as resistant as before.

"Are you taking Ruan Ruan to the amusement park?"

As Wen Yi was pondering these things, a cold voice suddenly rang out from behind. Wen Yi turned around sharply and saw the man sitting in the study.

He wore a mask, revealing his scarred face. He sat there with a cigarette between his teeth, his eyes slightly narrowed as he stared at Wen Yi, who stood there looking somewhat lost. His smile widened.

Wen Yi wasn't exactly at a loss; she was just thinking about something when the Second Master suddenly called her, so it was a bit of a surprise.

Wen Yi calmed herself down and walked towards the other person.

"Ruan Ruan said she wants to go to the amusement park tomorrow and hopes I can go with you. I saw that I have some free time these two days, so I agreed and didn't think it was a big deal."

"Oh." Gu Huaixu nodded lightly. "It's no big deal to agree."

Wen Yi sensed that the man's tone of voice was somewhat meaningful, and he probably meant that he had a problem with Wen Yi agreeing to take Ruan Ruan to the amusement park.

Wen Yi explained, "I just felt that whether I agreed or not, Ruan Ruan would go to the amusement park. I agreed, so that having more people with her would make her have more fun."

Wen Yi gave a very serious explanation.

Gu Huaixu looked at Wen Yi and found it somewhat amusing.

Most of the time, he thought Wen Yi was a bit simple-minded, but a few times he thought Wen Yi was shrewd and straightforward, with a clear understanding of his own interests.

But Gu Huaixu knew very well that Wen Yi was only truly Wen Yi on a few occasions.

However, the environment of the Wen family severely limited Wen Yi's room for growth.

Wen Yi offered an explanation, but the other party did not give a clear response, making Wen Yi inexplicably a little nervous.

She had promised Ruan Ruan and didn't want to break her promise.

"Second Master, I hope you can rest assured about me. Ruan Ruan has Xiao Lan and other servants taking care of her. I am just accompanying her, so there will be no accidents."

What if something unexpected happens?

"Second Master, are you deliberately making things difficult for me?" Wen Yi chuckled. "I was just accompanying you, so how did I become the main person in charge here? Shouldn't Xiao Lan be responsible for any problems that arise?"

"So you mean you don't care whether Ruanruan lives or dies, you're just going to accompany her?"

"Second Master is misinterpreting me again," Wen Yi said. "What I mean is, Xiao Lan is taking care of Ruan Ruan, and she has absolute authority over Ruan Ruan. Why is it that when she doesn't take good care of her, the responsibility falls on me?"

Wen paused for a few seconds, then added, "Could it be that Second Master is deliberately trying to make things difficult for me?"

Gu Huaixu chuckled, "I really never knew my little bride was so quick-witted."

"I don't think it counts as being quick-witted."

"But, let's stick to the facts?" Gu Huaixu raised an eyebrow.

Wen Yi nodded matter-of-factly and affirmatively, "That's the truth."

Gu Huaixu did not respond further, but stared at Wen Yi with a half-smile.

"So, if something happens to Ruan Ruan, it's because Xiao Lan didn't take good care of her, not because I, as her companion, did anything wrong, right?"

Wen asked a question.

Gu Huaixu could tell that Wen Yi's words contained some hidden meaning.

Gu Huaixu, seeing through the unspoken truth, nodded, "Theoretically, that's how it is."

“I understand now,” Wen Yi said. “Don’t worry, Second Master, Xiao Lan will definitely take good care of Ruan Ruan.”

After saying this, Wen Yi turned and walked out.

...

The next day.

Ruan Ruan came to knock on Wen Yi's door very early.

With Wen Yi's consent, the little boy slid in, holding onto the doorknob with both hands, his big eyes full of anticipation as he searched for Wen Yi in the room.

When Wen Yi knocked on the door, she hid behind the door and secretly watched the child. She was looking for Wen Yi in the room with great anticipation, but after searching around, she found that Wen Yi was gone. She was immediately confused and at a loss.

She took a few steps inside but couldn't see Wen Yi, and her eyes immediately turned red.

"New sister-in-law..."

"It's here!"

Wen Yi suddenly called out from behind, startling the child. When the child turned around and saw Wen Yi, he immediately burst into tears.

Wen Yi was just joking with the child, but when she suddenly started crying, Wen Yi was at a loss.

"I'm so sorry, I was just joking with you. I'm so sorry."

Wen Yi squatted down and quickly hugged Ruan Ruan, apologizing and comforting her, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

Wen Yi was comforting the child in her arms when she suddenly heard the child giggle.

Wen was taken aback for a moment, then pulled the child out. "Hey, little Gu Ruanruan, you're lying!"

"New sister-in-law, my name isn't Gu Ruanruan anymore." Ruanruan covered her face with her hands, a little shy. "My name is Cheng Tangtang."

Wen Yi was stunned.

Wen Yi had previously asked Xiao Kongkong, and the Second Master's surname was Gu.

His sister's surname isn't Gu, it's Cheng?

"Does Ruanruan take her mother's surname?" Wen Yi asked casually, ruffling Ruanruan's hair.

Ruan Ruan shook her head, "No, I take my father's surname."

Wen Yi suddenly found the entire Imperial Garden to be interesting.

If the younger sister isn't a younger sister, then is the younger brother still a younger brother?

The third and fourth sons probably don't have the surname Gu either.

"New sister-in-law." Ruan Ruan looked bewildered.

Wen came to her senses and smiled. "It's nothing. Ruan Ruan, wait for me for a bit. Oh, I need to change my clothes, then we'll have some food and then head to the amusement park, okay?"

Ruan Ruan nodded vigorously, "Okay!"
